Fox News Makeover: Liberal Son Natch!

4/24 UPDATE: Bill O’Reilly podcast statement, “I am sad that I’m not on television anymore. I was very surprised how it all turned out. I can’t say a lot, because there’s much stuff going on right now.

But I can tell you that I’m very confident the truth will come out, and when it does, I don’t know if you’re going to be surprised – but I think you’re going to be shaken, as I am. There’s a lot of stuff involved here.

Now, I can’t say any more because I just don’t want to influence the flow of the information. I don’t want the media to take what I say and misconstrue it. However you, as a loyal O’Reilly listener, have a right to know, I think, down the lane what exactly happened. And we are working in that direction, OK?

There’s a chance he may be right. Lisa Bloom, the lawyer for O’Reilly’s accuser Perquita Burgess, revealed the ultimate goal of going public with her client’s accusations: “The mission was to bring down Bill O’Reilly.”

FOX News has been a powerhouse in the news business. This was a problem for of left-wing politicians and the lock step liberal media that had grown comfortably rumpled and used to its power to control the national narrative. FOX was a thorn the left desperately wanted to remove. It’s was a surprise to exactly no one that an Alinsky style smear campaign, ongoing for years, was waged. The problem for progressives is the campaign had no real effect. Fox retained it’s popular position, it’s many stars winning in the ratings again and again. Then suddenly, after years on the air, a conga line of sexual harassment accusers came forth, filing lawsuits in the millions of dollars. As of today both Roger Ailes, former CEO of FOX, and Bill O’Reilly, it’s top performer, are gone. Are these men guilty or are they the victims of a campaign of destruction like that waged against Clarence Thomas? Accusations are not evidence. I have no evidence of an organized plan to destroy FOX News. However, the tumbling of dominoes, including controlling power in the company shifting to Murdock’s progressive son James, suggest the possibility. Contracts and high ratings make it difficult to fire people for cause. Another method had to be found.

James Murdock’s plan to fundamentally transform FOX News is no secret:

He seized his first opportunity for reform in July when, over his father Rupert’s protests and his brother and co-executive Lachlan’s ambivalence, he pushed for the ouster of Ailes, the network’s founder and almost all-powerful executive. When the O’Reilly story hit the Times, he overrode his father and brother again — and, by the same method he had used with Ailes, hiring a Democratic-associated law firm, Paul Weiss, to perform a rubber-stamp investigation. (In neither the Ailes nor O’Reilly investigations were the targets of the investigation interviewed.)

It was, he proudly told friends, a right decision rather than a business decision. The billionaire scion was aligning himself, profits be damned, with a new generation of corporate responsibility. That put him quite directly at odds with his father. It would be quite inconceivable to imagine Rupert sacrificing sure profits for greater good or a better image; indeed, his company had always been a pirate company.

But that really is the larger point — in which Bill O’Reilly and Roger Ailes were in the end just collateral damage — it isn’t his father’s company anymore.

If the expulsion of Ailes, and, even more dramatically, O’Reilly, mean anything, it means most of all that James is in charge.

And, most immediately, this means that Fox News, that constant irritant in James’ view of himself as a progressive and visionary television executive, will begin to change. Virtually overnight.

Will James Murdock succeed in reforming the company into mediocrity? Time will tell. One thing is for certain. If FOX becomes another mouthpiece for the progressive agenda it will crash. The biggest change will be the fast exit of most of the loyal viewers who will find a home elsewhere, perhaps here.

Sean Hannity just addressed this on his radio program. He says his live show will not change. The rising star Tucker Carlson will take over O’Reilly’s 8:00 PM time slot.

This nation has been a beacon for free speech. The radical left works hard these days to change that. We wish James all the luck in the world, he’ll need it. The progressive position is hypocritical and sinister. Cookie cutter newsrooms have been eschewed by at least half of the citizens of a nation hungry to hear opposing views. I acknowledge the fact that there is (and has been) a determined effort to silence conservative voices and push them from the public square. These forces are relentless. But they are being met with a strong opposition.

Have been reading numerous comments on the O’Reilly departure on both Lib and Conservative websites. A large number of commenters were urging Ailes and O’Reilly to create their own network and let FoxNews crumble – especially if FoxNews starts repeating the same mantra as the other moron media presstitutes.

While O’Reilly’s fans will follow him wherever he goes, it remains to be seen if others will find employment elsewhere.

James Murdock’s plan is to move the network to the left. Apparently he’s offended by some of the content on his fathers network. Poor kid. I’m sure he’s taken a lot of crap from his friends.

FOX has a very talented crew. The thing that will be interesting to watch is how someone will creatively fill the demand left in the void.

Read Hannity will be the next one to come under attack.

Another new home possibility is Glenn Beck’s facility in Texas. It’s set up for radio, TV and movie production.

He’s friends with O’Reilly, left Fox on good terms with Ailes, has fences to mend with Hannity and could use the business after supporting Cruz for president.

Forming a media partnership with CRTV and Beck could be a major joining of conservative media.

    Miss Tina, Captain Jack,

Are you sick of what those criminals in Sacramento have been doing? And mark my word this is only the beginning.

Here’s a great must read article about the latest round of tax increases and the criminality involved. Maybe you could make this a separate featured post. Everyone should read this. Please pass this on to everyone you know.

If this doesn’t cry out for the state of Jefferson or the east/west split or some other solution I do not know what does.

In transportation tax rush, did Sacramento break the law?

And check the end of the article. Disgusting.

In addition to the billion dollars of “reward” written into SB132 on April 6, the bill was amended on April 5 to add $1 billion for “augmented employee compensation.”

Yes, another $1 billion of “compensation increases and increases in benefits” for state workers was slipped in while everyone was wondering where the state spent all our transportation taxes.

Talk about being taken for a ride.

    Had enough yet?

Good info. It’s something that I failed to notice. Next time I meet with the gov. I’ll ask him about it.

Sacramento made the news for another reason today. They received a letter for the DoJ .

DOJ Sends a Letter to Nine Sanctuary Cities: Comply With Federal Immigration Laws or Lose Your Grant Money:

“Acting Assistant Attorney General Alan Hanson sent a letter Friday to local government officials in nine different suspected or declared sanctuary cities and counties,  demanding proof of compliance with federal immigration laws.

The letter, sent to officials in Sacramento, Chicago, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, New York City, Miami Dade County, Milwaukee County and Cook County, notes that these jurisdictions receive U.S. government grant funding. If it is to be renewed, cooperation with federal immigration authorities is expected.

“I write to alert you that under the terms of your FY 2016 Byrne JAG grant, award 2016-DJ-BX-0106 from the Office of Justice Programs (“OJP”), your jurisdiction is required to submit documentation to OJP that validates that your jurisdiction is in compliance with 8 U.S.C. 1373, which states that ‘a Federal, State, or local government entity or official may not prohibit, or in anyway restrict, any government entity or official from sending to, or receiving from, the Immigration and Naturalization Service information regarding the citizenship or immigration status, lawful or unlawful, of any individual.’ As your grant agreement makes clear, this documentation must be accompanied by an official legal opinion from counsel that adequately supports the validation and must be submitted to OJP no later than June 30, 20107, ” the letter from Hanson to Chicago Police Superintendent of Police Eddie Johnson states.

“Failure to comply with this condition could result in the withholding of grant funds, suspension or termination of the grant, ineligibility for future OJP grants or subgrants, or other action, as appropriate,” the letter continues. ”

Just got my copy of “Shattered” from Amazon.

Hillary lost because Dems really do believe people are stupid, just like Gruber said. They don’t think we can figure out for ourselves that if the Russians were helping Trump he wouldn’t have lost the popular vote by over three million. We are also smart enough to figure out he won because of the Electoral College votes, where even some of them broke ranks and refused to vote for him.

Bottom line is Trump won because he ran against Hillary, who “defeated” a democratic socialist who wasn’t a member of the Democrat party in a rigged primary.

Dems are lying about having proof the Russians hacked the election. There is NO proof. Because of WikiLeaks there IS proof that John Podesto, because of his own stupidity, opened the door to his and the DNC’s computers, which exposed what DWS, Brazile and all of the others were up to.

I’m saddened to hear that Bill O’Reilly, two time winner of the prestigious Peabody award, will be leaving Fox. I really enjoyed his rants and I hope that he finds another venue from which to express his opinion. Hopefully getting away from the mainstream media will be a positive and productive change.

  7. Tina says:

Joe I have only one disagreement with Daniel Lang who concluded his article by writing:

We’re becoming two distinct nations with two competing visions for what the country should be. Two visions that are diametrically opposed. We used to be a nation of many nations that was held together, because there was still some common ground on what it means to be an American above all else. Now we can’t even agree on that.

He’s right we cannot agree on what it means to be American. But we need to know how we came to this impas if we are going to know how to choose a winning side.

It’s possible that Mr. Lang is a younger man, educated in modern American schools. If so, his statement makes sense. The reality expressed by the influential left educators and pundits is that diversity is the thing that made America great…the thing that made us American…they keep saying we are who we are because of the many nations our citizens represent.

But this is not how most citizens my age understood America. We understood that America stood out in contrast with other melting pot nations because we stood for and valued liberty. No matter where we came from the thing that united us was the freedom for all to succeed and own property. Americans valued hard work, we had respect for the law, and we respected the property of others. We knew that although we might disagree we could count on the fact that we all understood the value of the Constitution and that our freedom and rights would be protected.

The diversity crowd has thrown those precious ideals under the bus. Now a growing part of the population has been taught to be intolerant of anyone who values freedom above special interests and the authority of central planers. This is the shift, the cause, of the great division that we are witnessing. Foreign ideals are being imposed. The more the people resist this imposition, the more controlling those leading the interloper ideology become and the more violent and vicious their “army” becomes.

I stand on the side of liberty, just as our brilliant founders did. I invite others to join the side of liberty.

Just read Bill O’Reilly will release a podcast, “”No Spin News” on Monday. Looks like he will be fighting back in what very well may be a vicious attempt to discredit and silence a strong voice on the side of liberty.

  8. Chris says:

So only liberals would fire someone for being a serial sexual harasser?

What does that say about conservatives?
