Hearing Footsteps Republicans? Democrats to Unveil a “Better Deal Economic Agenda” Monday

UPDATE: The Hill reports, “Schumer: Dems, not Russia, are to blame for loss to Trump”:

“When you lose to somebody who has 40 percent popularity, you don’t blame other things – [James] Comey, Russia – you blame yourself,” Schumer said in an interview Saturday with The Washington Post.

“So what did we do wrong? People didn’t know what we stood for, just that we were against Trump. And still believe that.”

Democrats have knocked their heads together and finally realized 2 things: 1)resist isn’t resonating, and 2) the people want a workable economic plan so they better come up with one. According to a Goeff Garin memo they will roll out “policies related to curbing excessive corporate power” and “special interests” to boost the economy. We’ll know soon what else it entails:

Too many families in America today feel that the rules of the economy are rigged against them. Special interests have a stranglehold on Washington—from the super-rich spending unlimited amounts of secret money to influence our elections, to the huge loopholes in our tax code that help corporations avoid paying taxes. The basic bargain that hard-working men and women can keep a good job, make a decent living, and provide for their families is no longer attainable for too many eople. But it does not have to be this way. If the government goes back to putting working families first, ahead of special interests, we can achieve a better deal for the American people that will raise their pay, lower their expenses, and prepare them for the future.”

Hmmm…sounds like they’ve been reading conservative and Independent blogs…I’ll bet it will still contain a tax and spend agenda with lots of give-away-goodies included. Hope they surprise me, that hasn’t worked for ten years.

If they were truly sincere wouldn’t they just work with the Republicans in Congress in what used to be called a cooperative “bipartisan” fashion? Would’t they be willing to recognize the party in power and compromise in order to influence their agenda? After all voters put the Republican Party in charge in Congress. The policies of the Democrat Party have held sway during the last eight years due to a stubborn refusal by Obama and Reid to consider or pass important bills relating to the economy passed by Republicans in the House. Partisan bickering and war left the people out of the loop.

The second page of the memo contains some dubious conclusions drawn from polls. One in particular attempts to lay blame for the state of the economy on corporations:

Fifty-seven percent (57%) say it is true that President Trump and Republicans, “are driving up prices for consumers by allowing a few huge corporations to dominate our government and economy.”

I can imagine the leading question that led to that result. The feds monetary policy under Obama for eight long years is more responsible and incidentally made his wealthy corporate backers very rich as the middle class floundered.

I see no sincerity here. This is just the Democrats doing what they always do, co-opting their opponents to get their power back.
Democrats are not about to stand back wait. They are plotting and planning to take over.

The Republican Party had better get it’s act together Now. They need to do two important things immediately:

1) Find someone that can communicate and connect with the people every single day (Scaramucci?)

2) Put economic related legislation on Trumps desk.

Republicans have played too long on defense. Time to step up their game. Time to stop the inside bickering and disagreement and get something done. Just give the people something to show you have their backs. Put an economic package together that you can agree on and pass you can always do more later! Just do it!

    New deal???
Are the Demwits gonna dispense with the character assassinations, Fake News, and downright lying??????
    Sara Palin’s comment about lipstick on a pig comes to mind . . . . .

    • Tina says:

Oh, J, you know that’s not going to happen. They’ll just find a more subtle method for now while they attempt to lure voters back into the fold. It will be interesting to see how successful they are. If Schumer is right and it’s just that they had no message that resonated they could pose a real political/messaging threat. On the other hand if people have grown wise to their hypocrisy, broken promises and deceit it might not work as well as expected.

One things for sure, Republicans had better shape up quick and get their economic agenda rolling.

    Off topic – sorta . . . .
Was VERY surprised to hear that Repubs supported Moonbeam’s cap-and-trade for Taxifornia. And now I know why!
    http://www.breitbart.com/california/2017/07/23/californians-may-able-vote-high-speed-rail-indirectly/
That’s assuming Moonbeam’s cap-and-trade makes it through the courts, since states are prohibited from cutting their own foreign “deals” in the Constitution.

    • Tina says:

Those California Dems are the most entitled people on the planet…as bad as the old monarchs!

Thus far, the Los Angeles Times notes, cap-and-trade has raised nearly $5 billion for the state through fees imposed for emissions in excess of official limits. $1.5 billion of that has never been spent.

The mother load of redistribution! 2015 expenditure plan has high speed rail at the top of the list. Affordable housing comes in as a close second. Is that supposed to address people pollution? The $5 billion came from people NOT reducing their emissions…that’s why they pay the fee. Noncompliance is very lucrative for the bureaucrats and elites in Sacto! They are such scammers and phonies.

      • Tina says:

Oh, and I forgot to add, the fee they are paying for noncompliance is ridiculous since the levels are ridiculous and account for fractional only improvement. ($5 billion taken out of the economy and spent for nothing measurable in terms of improvement!)

Democrat policy = Deceit and Waste.

Mark Levin in his new book, “Rediscovering Americanism: And the Tyranny of Progressivism” explains we are in a civil war to preserve the Republic type of government our Founders created for us from the European Progressive/Socialist type of government our early settlers left Europe to escape.

Progressive republicans are joining with democrats to complete the transition. Instead of Kings and Lords America will be governed by a President and Congressmen/women.

The elites will rule the people once again. Parents will loose their right to decided the medical care their own children will or will not receive. Baby Charlie Gard will die because the state denied him possible life saving treatments when he could have benefited from it. Is this the future Americans really want? I hope not.

GOP Obamacare struggle shows tyranny of progressivism infects party:

Byron York: Why can’t House repeal Obamacare? Because a lot of Republicans don’t want to:

    • Tina says:

Just read that 73% of those who will “lose their insurance” if Obamacare is repealed are people who will voluntarily drop the insurance because they bought it to avoid the penalty. See good article here that explains how CBO scores

Based on those estimates, of the 22 million fewer people who will have health insurance in 2026 under the Senate bill, 16 million will voluntarily drop out of the market because they will no longer face a financial penalty for doing so: 73 percent of the total. As you can see in the above chart, two factors—repealing Obamacare’s individual mandate and the CBO’s outdated March 2016 baseline—explain nearly all of the CBO-scored coverage difference between GOP bills and Obamacare.

      • Peggy says:

I read the same thing. With all of the lying, fake news and fact twisting we can’t believe anything any more.

No one really knows if there really was 20-30 million without healthcare before 2010, since the figure of only an additional 9 million have since gotten coverage.

What’s really bad is the trillions that was wasted on the computer systems that didn’t work in DC and every state that tried to set it up. The loss of jobs and havoc it’s done to our economy will take years if not decades to recover from.

I mentioned in another post that Trump could solve the problem with the stroke of his pen by reversing Obama exemption to congress and staff members from the mandate and by paying the individual’s cost. Members of both parties would be motivated to resolve the mess asap or start paying out of their pockets.

Any plan they do come up with had better have all of DC on the same plan as the public with NO exceptions.
