Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) Working on Legislation to Dismantle and Ban Congressional Sexual Harassment Payouts

Thank J Soden for this promising news brought to us through Kristina Wong via Breitbart:

“I’m working on legislation to unseal settlement records, bar use of tax dollars to pay claims against members & staff, prohibit members from using office budgets to camouflage payments (a Conyers rule) & require reimbursement of the taxpayer,” DeSantis tweeted on Wednesday.

On Monday it came out that that same John Conyers’ (D-MI) accuser was paid $27,000 to settle her complaint that she was fired after refusing to succumb to Conyers’ sexual advances.

Wong’s report is a little confusing since later she writes, “DeSantis’s legislation will make public all payments funded by taxpayers, as well as the nature of the initial allegation and the member of Congress implicated.” I’m assuming she means his legislation would end the practice going forward and expose what has been done in the past.

The swamp will be drained! We should all take note that it’s only happening because the people are demanding it! We have more power than we think.

Side note: Trump is placing conservative judges on the bench at a heavy pace and will increase the number of federal judges by about 350. After what we’ve heard of cases backing up in the courts this is very good news…this will definitely help to restore the rule of law!

Division and trying to dictate ones beliefs to the whole country?

Then you say Drain the Swamp?

    Newsflash Both Parties are dirty.

Obama hired the same Goldman Sachs people on a list given to him and Trump did the Same.

Kushner is doing Trumps Dirty work and gave the Saudi’s intel now they Purge. This is no more than a swap of dirty politicians.

Using the power of the office to obtain patents from China? Selling EB5 Visa’s?

One set of donors and Alphabet agency swamp is purging the other and they are all dirty.

Funny how dumb Americans are fighting for their own criminals.

    The Hypocrisy is alarming.

No one won an election fair and square – we stopped HRC from winning and you can thank us later.

    Reality awaits one day.

Another path for payouts for silence exposed:

While the Office of Compliance has been the focus of outrage on Capitol Hill for hush-money payouts in sexual harassment cases, the Grijalva payout points to another office that lawmakers can use to sweep accusations under the rug with taxpayer-funded settlements negotiated by the House Employment Counsel, which acts as the attorney for all House offices.

The employment counsel negotiated a deal for taxpayers to give $48,395 — five additional months’ salary — to the female aide, who left her job after three months. She didn’t pursue the hostile workplace complaint further.

The arrangement appears to run contrary to House rules that constrain severance packages, and it caught the eye of watchdogs who were already demanding answers about payouts in the wake of harassment complaints.

Humm? Wonder how many will announce they won’t be running for reelection when this bill passed? And how many will dare to vote against it?
