House Passes Massive Six Month Spending Bill

Posted by Tina

Update at 4:18 PM: Daily Caller, “Budget Passes House, But Nearly 100 Republicans Voted Against It”

A bipartisan $1.3 trillion spending bill passed in the House today in a 256-167 vote.

Twenty-five outraged Republicans stood in defiance against Speaker Ryan in a procedural vote to bring the 2000 page omnibus bill to the floor for a vote. They were not given time to review the bill and they objected to the “process used to to craft the omnibus and its content”:

Several conservatives attempted to introduce amendments in the House Rules Committee to negate some of the omnibus provisions they didn’t agree with Wednesday, which were ultimately ruled out of order in committee.

Provisions providing funding for “sanctuary cities” and Planned Parenthood and language strengthening background checks for those looking to purchase firearms were some of the biggest sticking points.

“This is wrong. This is not the limited-government conservatism our voters demand. Our constituents – our employers – deserve better,” Meadows said in a statement. “Members of the Freedom Caucus chose to vote no, because this omnibus doesn’t just forget the promises we made to voters – it flatly rejects them.”

The bill increases military spending by $80 billion and domestic programs by $63 billion. “Incentives to bolster reporting by federal agencies to the database for gun-buyer background checks” was also included in the bill…whatever that means.

$1.6 billion is included for border security and $21 billion for infrastructure projects. According to The Daily Mail, “White House budget chief says GOP got 110 miles of border barriers funded, but only 33 miles cover stretches of open border with no existing walls or fencing.”

$4 billion will go to combat opioid addiction.

An added “bonus” is the raises for Congress included in the bill.

The president will sign the legislation according to reports.

This is the way government works today and it is definitely costing us. Since we can’t convince enough people to cut the size of our government we may have to resort to a wild solution…get behind the spender, demand full throttle spending, and keep pushing until it collapses…yeah, let’s party! Death by a million cuts is much worse. Of course, what we’re left with….

Hope TheDonald exercises his Veto Pen. This bill is a steaming pile of dreck that shouldn’t have made it outta the House. Shame on RINO Ryan!

Never mind that … we can survive that …

    Mercy on us.

I hope you people are proud of yerselves … what a mess …

    • Tina says:

      Mess? What mess?

It’s nothing short of business as usual…and it will pass.

John Bolton is an excellent choice and will serve the President and the people very well.

      • Peggy says:

This should be fun to watch. Let’s hope it’s true and he succeeds.

Bolton Will Reportedly ‘Clean House’ At National Security Council
        Photo of Scott Morefield:

“President Donald Trump’s newly appointed national security adviser, John Bolton, reportedly plans to “clean house” at the National Security Council.

Sources told Foreign Policy that Bolton’s planned purge will start with Obama administration holdovers and eventually broaden to include leakers and those disloyal to the president.

“Bolton can and will clean house,” a former White House official told Foreign Policy.

Another official issued a warning to former Obama officials — “Everyone who was there during Obama years should start packing their shit.”

But the purge reportedly won’t stop with former Obama appointees. A source told Foreign Policy that Bolton intends to “remove almost all the political [appointees] McMaster brought in.”

Oh my Lordy … likely, this is not very helpful. Actually, incendiary is what it is.

On the other hand … hey, Pie, Peggy … they’s talkin’ about ya:

  4. Pie Guevara says:

Is anyone surprised who Libby takes her marching orders from? Sometimes you just have to laugh. Self lobotomized and brain washed by nonsense.

Hey, you fool, where did you get the absurd idea I voted for Trump? Sheesh, what an idiot. Libby, did your parents have any children that lived? You are seriously demented. Run along now you moron. You are so damn stupid it is painful to watch.

  5. Tina says:

Guess who voted “no” on this stinker of a spending bill?

Democrats seeking re-election: Cory Booker, Kirsten Gillibrand, Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.

  6. Peggy says:

Ryan and McConnell threw Trump under the bus with this budget. They sold out his border wall promise knowing while it may cost the loss of some reps in congress it would be the first opportunity to get rid of Trump if Dems gain the majority in the House in 2018 and Repubs in the Senate under McConnell’s direction would vote against him. If the Repubs don’t get rid of him in 2018 they’ll go after him again in 2020.

Peter Schweizer’s new book, exposes McConnell and his wife with the China shipping industry. Trump’s tariff threat to China would cost McConnell and his extended family billions.

Spending Bill: Trump Banned from Building Border Wall with Prototypes He Toured in San Diego:

“The omnibus spending bill passed by the Republican-controlled House and Senate specifically bans President Trump’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) from building new border walls and fencing with the prototype designs the president most recently visited.

The omnibus spending bill bans Trump from using any of the new border wall designs his administration has commissioned, instead only allowing for previously-used fencing barriers to be constructed.

The spending bill includes allowing existing fencing to be used for:

14 miles on the southwest border in the San Diego Sector.
25 miles along the southwest border in the Rio Grande Valley Sector.
Primary pedestrian fencing in Rio Grande Valley Sector.
Primary pedestrian fencing along the southwest border.
In total, only 33 miles of the southern border will see new, previously-used fencing added, while nearly 50 miles of old fencing will be replaced with new fencing, and 14 miles of current border fencing will get a face-lift.”

  7. Tina says:

We got 33 miles of border wall in this bill, a slap in the face. But, regarding walls, an even bigger slap is included in the bill:

…Ryan’s and McConnell’s spend-a-thon provides $500 million for a 274-mile wall on Jordan’s border with Syria and Iraq, along with a wall for Tunisia…

Another bit of information makes the combination of confidence (Pelosi/Schummer) and distress (Trump voters) a little less meaningful:

Congress basically screwed themselves by not passing a Budget…

Per the Constitution…the President must adhere to a Budget set forth by Congress and direct the expenditures as provided therein.

This is another one of those big Porkulus Bills, like they gave Obama for 8 years. This is not a Budget..

An Omnibus Spending Bill may have some ‘instructions’ as to how the money will be spent…but Obama ignored them.
He spent the money, or didn’t spend it, however he wanted to.
And Congress didn’t do a thing about it! Because they couldn’t..

And, it is only for 6 months..

I think our President observed how this happened, year after year.
He is bound to realize that those ‘appropriations’ for different things in these Omnibus bills…are merely ‘suggestions’.

So like Obama, Pres Trump can spend this money on whatever he wants to. …

    … Planned Parenthood?
What if our President decided to tell the Treas Dept to ‘slow-walk’ that money to Planned Parenthood…until the Senate gets off their ass and confirms his appointees?

    Sanctuary Cities?
What if our President decided to ‘slow-walk’ that money too…until those Sanctuary Cities assist ICE in rounding up criminal illegal aliens?

    What can we do now?

We on the right need to demand McConnell rid the Senate of the self-imposed filibuster rule requiring 60 votes. We need to demand that Congress discontinue Omnibus spending bills.

Our government is sufficiently funded to operate without increases for some time to come. It needs to learn to live within it’s means and our representatives need to do their work and do it transparently. Any additional spending should be passed or defeated on it’s merits in individual bills that are read, understood and debated openly.

    • Peggy says:

Ryan’s election is this November. His term ends next January.

McConnell’s election is in 2020, the same as Trump’s. Bet, Trump doesn’t campaign for him. His term ends Jan. 2021.

Trump does have wide range of options with discretionary funds to move them around wherever he wants. And as Commander in Chief he could use some of that military defense funds to secure our southern border with National Guards, the Coast Guard and the Army Corp of Engineers to build the dang wall.

I’d love to know how the selling of all the empty surplus buildings, equipment and materials is going since he streamlined the process with regulatory reforms.

      • Tinas says:

I would too Peggy. That’s something that should have been done long ago.

        • Peggy says:

I’d also LOVE for him to sell to the states the land within their borders the federal gov’t bought in the original purchases from other countries, like the Louisiana purchase. Negotiated price and payments to be mutually agreed upon.

Land not previously purchased from another country, but taken from a state by the federal gov’t. should be deeded back.

    Interesting. We’ll see.

Thanks RHT447…it’s official and “they” have been notified.

  10. RHT447 says:

Well, here is my two cents at this point. I think President Trump was ready to sign the omnibus spending bill no matter what was in it, in order to get our military funded.

Here is why I think so.

The following link is to an article that centers around the electromagnetic catapults on our newest carrier, the USS Ford (CVN 78). In short, they are junk, pretty much rendering USS Ford USELESS as a warship.

    https://bayourenaissanceman.blogspot.com/2018/03/naval-air-disaster-of-epic-proportions.html

This is just one example. Repair personnel scrounging through museums and boneyards for parts is another. During the past administration, our military deteriorated while our enemies improved. If we lose our military advantage, we’re done. Trade deficit? There won’t BE any trade. Our enemies will determine when and where we are allowed to sail and fly, and there will be nothing we can do about it. We need to rebuild our military, right now.

None of this is lost on the left and rhinos. I also think what made President Trump so angry is when he saw just how willing the left and rhinos were to leverage the sorry state of our military to further their agenda a protect their status quo.

Seeing as how this strip was so popular awhile back, here is the Saturday edition . As usual, lots of symbolism. Love the Battle of Britain setting, and the attacking Stukas marked Dem and GOP.
