President Announces Trade Deal with Canada – China Lowers Tariffs

Posted by Tina

President Trump fulfilled another campaign promise today when he announced that Canada had joined with the US and Mexico to form the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, a brand new trade deal for North America.

The President held a press conference this morning. He also tweeted, of course:

“Late last night, our deadline, we reached a wonderful new Trade Deal with Canada, to be added into the deal already reached with Mexico,” Trump tweeted. “The new name will be The United States Mexico Canada Agreement, or USMCA. It is a great deal for all three countries, solves the many deficiencies and mistakes in NAFTA, greatly opens markets to our Farmers and Manufacturers, reduce Trade Barriers to the U.S. and will bring all three Great Nations closer together in competition with the rest of the world. The USMCA is a historic transaction!”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who will make a formal statement sometime today, said following the historic meeting, “It’s a good day for Canada.”

Winning is contagious. The American Thinker cites a Reuters article today:

China will cut import tariffs on textile products and metals, including steel products, to 8.4 percent from 11.5 percent, effective Nov. 1, the finance ministry said on Sunday. … Earlier in July, China reduced import tariffs on a range of consumer items including apparel, cosmetics, home appliances, and fitness products to fulfil pledges to further open China’s consumer market.

Import tariffs on wood and paper products, minerals and gemstones will be cut to 5.4 percent from 6.6 percent, the ministry also said in its statement.

Average import tariffs on over fifteen hundred products will be lowered to 7.8 percent from 10.5 percent, the ministry said.

I could not find an American paper that reported the news about China…at least not so far. Most aren’t interested in reporting positive news since they hate and would like to destroy President Trump. Their loss.

Winning! President Trump delivers again! American workers will benefit from the new trade deals and so will workers in Canada and Mexico. Mexican auto workers will see a big raise in pay making the industry more competitive for American auto workers. Dairy farmers in America will benefit greatly. The agreement will strengthen the American steel industry, creating jobs and ensuring our military will have the equipment needed to adequately defend the nation. When countries cooperate honestly in trade relations better overall relationships follow.

The agreement will now go to Congress for their blessing…another reason to get out and vote. (Nancy and Schummer would likely kill this deal for political reasons alone…they prefer MASA-Make America Sh*%%y Again, if it means they regain control.

An aside: We’re winning locally as well! President Trump approved an independent investigation of Orovlle Dam:

OROVILLE, Calif. – Congressman Doug LaMalfa is voicing his support for a bill signed by President Trump that would allow an independent investigation into the Oroville Dam. The “Energy and Appropriations” Bill was signed into law Thursday. It would give authority to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission or (FERC) to inspect the dam. The bill says that FERC will inspect the dam and its stability. LaMalfa has been vocal about the issue since the Oroville Dam Spillway Crisis in Spring of 2017, to put an independent team to look at the dam. “It’s important that we have especially since we’re talking potential federal dollars that we have our own unbiased review. And not only the spillway but the dam itself,” LaMalfa said.
