Today’s Funny

You never appreciate what you have till it’s gone.  Toilet paper is a good example.

    Likewise garbage pick-up.

    No, this is today’s funny:

Only, I guess it’s not that funny. First there is the pipe-bomber, and Trump pulls that truly obscene “Aren’t I being nice … nudge, nudge, wink, wink.” Then we have the synagogue shooter, and is our Prezzy chastened? Why, no … all those elderly congregants should have been packing.

Donald Trump is a walking, talking obscenity … and this is not funny.

Welcome to Post Scripts, Lone Star…way to wade in.

OK. Here is my Halloween joke.

A wee young lad wants to be a pirate for Halloween. Through no fault of their own, the family winds up shopping for a costume at the last minute. Everything is picked over, but they finally find one, however it is about three sizes too big. They persevere, and with safety pins, rolling up the sleeves, and stuffing the over-sized hat with paper towels, they make it work . Aharrr-harr, thar be pirates aboard!

Out they go to trick-or-treat. The young lad has to kind of balance the hat, but he is into being a pirate and having a ball. Soon he comes to a house and a nice lady comes to the door. She plays along and says “Oh my! What fierce pirate captain you are! Where are your buccaneers?”. The young lad stops short, thinks for a moment, then looks up at her and says “Under my buck’in hat, Lady.”.

You can abuse me … but you can’t argue with what I said … can you?

I mean, a man who infers that a congregation is, itself, to blame for violence perpetrated against it … because they won’t be armed 24/7. Is this a defensible position? Go on … try.

    • Tina says:

Of course we can argue. It would be a waste of time in terms of you learning anything but others do read this blog.

“…a man who infers that a congregation is, itself, to blame for violence perpetrated against it … because they won’t be armed 24/7”

Trump NEVER suggested the congregation be armed, much less 24/7.

He suggested that a private security presence (of their own choosing) could have prevented at least some of the deaths and injuries.

You’ve become quite the horrid Hannah, Libs. CNN could take lessons in fake news from you.

    Ok, you want funny …

Here we have a prayer service and campaign event rolled into one (classy), to which Pence invites a Jew for Jesus.

    https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2018/10/rabbi-loren-jacobs-pence-epstein-pittsburgh-shooting.html

All right … a dark funny, … and you couldn’t make this stuff up.

  7. Tina says:

Not funny, dark or otherwise. But then it IS from Slate. An excerpt:

The choice of Loren Jacobs outraged some Jews, who were insulted by the choice of a man belonging to a group that believes Jesus is the son of God for the remembrance of the synagogue victims. Some Jews have said that Jacobs should not be called a rabbi, given that his beliefs align more with Christianity than Judaism.

    1. Only “some” Jews were outraged.

    2. Some Jews are offended that other Jews have become believers in Christ. (Who, according to some, fulfilled the prophecies in the Old Testament)

    3. Rabbi means teacher. Some would say his knowledge and experience would be welcomed anywhere and in any circumstances as long as his intentions were appropriate to the gathering. Nothing suggests this man would be anything other than kind, compassionate and caring.

    4. Some people are never satisfied and will exploit anything to demean others.

    Some people!

    • Chris says:

Tina, he wasn’t even a real rabbi. He was defrocked over ten years ago.

Normal people can see why an evangelical Vice President inviting a defrocked rabbi who thinks Jews need to accept Jesus to speak to the Jewish community after an anti-Semitic attack would be offensive to the Jewish community.

But you’re not a normal person.
