We’re Not As Happy As We Should Be

A GOOD NEWS ~ BAD NEWS kind of story. . .

Life expectancy in the U.S. dropped for the second year in a row, according to the CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics.

The new average life expectancy for Americans is 78.7 years, which puts the U.S. behind other developed nations and 1.5 years lower than the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) average life expectancy of 80.3. The OECD is a group of developed countries that includes Canada, Germany, Mexico, France, Japan, and the U.K.

So why has the U.S., a global leader in the length of life for its citizens in the 1960s, fallen so far in this metric for quality of the nation’s health?

A new study published in the BMJ journal looked into a broader cause behind the decline: despair.

The likely cause of this decline, in my humble opinion, is the despair of democrats over the election of Trump.  By my estimation democrats have lost about 5 years so far, while conservatives have gained two, maybe three years.   If this continues, expect democrats to start kicking the bucket around age 65, while all others will exceed 80 easily.  If you are a democrat, maybe its time to change your party before its too late?

I’ll have to take issue with the findings. Democrats haven’t gotten to Depression yet. A few of them are still in the Denial stage. They deny Trump was ever elected. Most have reached Anger, but none I know of have come yet to Bargaining, so Depression is still far off. They will likely die before getting to Acceptance.
I do believe democrats are dying earlier. Their blood pressure has to be phenomenal. It is obvious when they speak of Trump on camera. Forehead veins are throbbing, and heart rate is clearly visible in tightening collars.
They commonly speak in gibberish, apparently unaware of the insanity of their proclamations. I think the sound of their voices is comforting, so I say go ahead and encourage them to rant on.
Regardless of the reason for the longevity change, I do appreciate having the extra years added on my side.

Thanks for that CJ! I think you are right on too. I hear the filthy, trashed up, rat infested, bum camps all over Los Angeles is the perfect breeding ground for the black plague and other deadly diseases. What man can’t fix – nature will.

Have you ever seen the president speak?

        Chris:
Have you ever seen the president speak?

Sure. I saw him nominate Gorsuch and Kavanaugh. I saw him tell NATO and some others to stop sponging off us. I saw him tell manufacturers to get back to work in the U.S., and then saw him share the economic growth figures with us. Saw him do lots of good stuff. Heard all that also.
Have also seen and heard most democrats, including the media, obsessed with destroying him with one phony issue after another. Haven’t seen them do anything useful.
        Is that what you mean?

        • Post Scripts says:

CJ, excellent, thanks telling it like it is.

        • Chris says:

So you agree with his policy goals…what does that have to do with the way he speaks? How did you miss the point that you are being a hypocrite by accusing Dems of “speaking gibberish” when Trump cannot form a coherent sentence?

I mean, this is from today:

“North Korea fired off some small weapons, which disturbed some of my people, and others, but not me. I have confidence that Chairman Kim will keep his promise to me, & also smiled when he called Swampman Joe Bidan a low IQ individual, & worse. Perhaps that’s sending me a signal?”

I mean, aside from the grammar and spelling errors…this is dangerously naive. Not to mention the president celebrating a murderous foreign dictator bashing a fellow American…imagine how you would react if Obama had celebrated a dictator saying something like this about a Republican? This president has no sense of decency or patriotism. He only cares if you say nice things about him. That is the beginning and end of his evaluation of you as a person.

“That is the beginning and end of his evaluation of you as a person.”

            Uh…….OK.

          • Chris says:

He sided with a murderous foreign dictator over a fellow American on Memorial Day weekend, and your response is “Uh, ok.” Says a lot about you.

“He sided with a murderous foreign dictator over a fellow American on Memorial Day weekend, and your response is “Uh, ok.” Says a lot about you.”

Yes it does. I was hoping you’d get it. It says you’re boring the hell out of me with your irrelevant anecdotes.

    • Chris says:

The president siding with a murderous foreign dictator over a fellow American on Memorial Day is not “irrelevant.”

And if Obama had done it, you would not think it was irrelevant.

You know this. Which is why you can’t deny it.

  3. Cherokee Jack says:

“He sided with a murderous foreign dictator over a fellow American on Memorial Day weekend.”

An amazing coincidence! All the political hacks on TV used the exact same phrase, exact same words as you, Chris. How do you account for that?

    • Chris says:

Easy: it’s obviously and self-evidently true.

Which is, again, why you cannot rebut it. So you just deflect. Trump’s actions and statements aren’t the problem to you; the media is the problem for accurately describing them.
