How Long Will Our Democracy Last?

How long will our Democracy Last? Although the United States is not a true democracy where simple majority rules, we are a republic with a strong lean towards democracy.

From a historical perspective the average lifespan of a democracy is about 200 years.
Some say between 200 and 250.

Since the Declaration of Independence 1776, the United States is getting “old”…
241 years this July 4th, 2017.

After doing some internet research on “the life-cycle of a democracy”, many of the results return a common timeline as follows:

1. From bondage to spiritual faith
2. From spiritual faith to great courage
3. From courage to liberty
4. From liberty to abundance
5. From abundance to complacency
6. From complacency to apathy
7. From apathy to dependence
8. From dependence back into bondage

The question is, where do you think we are on this timeline?  Looks to me like we’re somewhere between 7 and 8.

Where do you think we’re headed?  Since today is July 4th, rather than simply dishing out a patriotic message I thought that I would consider the state of our nation compared with the historical life cycle of a democracy.

Current events are unfolding that indicate state and local governments are running out of “other people’s money”, and we all know that the federal government is in debt up to its eyeballs… coupled with our evident extreme political differences…

“The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public’s money.”

“Hold on, my friends, to the Constitution and to the Republic for which it stands. Miracles do not cluster and what has happened once in 6,000 years, may not happen again. Hold on to the Constitution, for if the American Constitution should fail, there will be anarchy throughout the world.”

    I have several friends and family members who are right-leaning and a few that are even Trump supporters. I do not and will not consider these people my “enemies” and I hope dividers like Ken won’t brainwash them into thinking of me that way either. The truth is that nothing is worse for our democracy than this kind of demonization of our neighbors for simply supporting a different political party. I am heartened by some of the comments on that post calling him out for this.

      UnFREAKING believable. Demonization of Jack, Tina, myself and others who disagree with him is PRECISELY what Souza has done hundreds of times in these pages.

      Never have a met more of an absurd, oblivious hypocrite and compulsive liar than Chris Souza.

        I don’t demonize Tina or Jack. I criticize their arguments respectfully and civilly. I think they are good people, even when we disagree.

    Consider next November. If Trump is re-elected, the last four years of fanatical Trump hating will look tame compared to the next four. They’ve already progressed (pun intended) from blatantly obvious dirty tricks to violence in the streets. They apparently have no boundaries.
    Or, if they produce enough voting felons, zombies and illegal aliens, the bondage phase will be complete

    Radicals want severe and deep government control. Individuality, freedom, and choice must die to make room for their tyrannical notions of equality.

    These are representative of someone who’s made an “enemy” of the things our founding documents represent and the culture that has grown and continues to grow from them. The voices of power in the Democrat Party continue call for the destruction of our nation. The Democrat Party embraces the destruction and cancellation of our history. Event violence and death are tolerated as long as this goal to transform America is the end result. It began in earnest under Obama who called for the “fundamental transformation“ of America.

    The profound political differences We are witnessing cannot exist in the same space. One or the other must be defeated if we are ever to enjoy civility and peace again. A nation divided will not stand.

    Those who believe that we’re just in the midst of a friendly discussion can’t see the forest for the trees. They think the well meaning peaceful protesters of blm are the same as the hard core Marxist revolutionaries that run and organize BLM. They are not the same, not even close.

    To answer your question Jack, the fight for our nation has begun. Whether we find ourselves ultimately at arms depends on how many Americans have awakened to the very real threat. This election will tell us a lot about the state we’re in.

    The necessary question is simple as well as profound. Do you believe in our Constitutionally formed capitalist republic or do you believe it should be cancelled, shredded, and replaced by those who demand transformation, tolerate violence, and discriminate and abuse any who disagree?

    Make no mistake. Individual Americans are either with those who love and wish to preserve our nation or they are against us. I don’t know what you call someone who wants to destroy our system if not, “enemy.” I hate it but that’s where we are.

    Why is anarchy a bad thing? Local groups that governments themselves is no harm to anyone, infact it is better than the “majority” rules. Change my mind
