Bush Foreign Policy Actually, He Didnt Go it Alone

bush_legacy.jpegPosted by Tina

People have accused the Bush Administration of practicing unilateralism. His so called go it alone policy was the subject of scathing comments from both democrats and media. But Paula Dobriansky, a senior diplomat in the State Department, has a different story to tell:

** “Coming into this job, my father had a great impact on me. He talked about the importance of the human condition and he said that freedom and human dignity are essential components of the human condition. . . . All of my areas, when you look at them, they all relate to the human condition and to those fundamental needs. . . . And all of these issues — health, human rights, women’s issues, democracy, the environment — are interwoven into our broader national security priorities of peace and stability.” Paula Dobriansky **

Tis the Season – For Car Wrecks!

By Jack

acar1.jpg
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Thanksgiving is the most dangerous holiday of the year for drivers. This is due to the heavy traffic, drinking and long-distance car trips that combine to create fatal travel conditions.

“Now that airline ticket prices have increased, you have people trying to cram in as many activities as they can before they take that four- or five-hour trip home,” says David Kelly, acting administrator for the NHTSA.

Will Christmas also be a dangerous holiday? Count on it. Keep this in mind when making your travel plans to planning your travel to Mom and Dad’s. The food, the drinking, the distances on the roads, these are all very similar to the events on Thanksgiving. Post Scripts reminds you to be aware of the problems, be careful and stay alive. The life you save may be…

A Christmas Future?

By Jack

Once upon a time, a long time ago in a little town called Chico, people gathered to celebrate the lighting of the humble Christmas tree now replaced by the Glorious Commune Tree. This was a time when it was a criminal offense to smoke dope and not a criminal offense to produce smoke…er, that is, from your chimney. It was a crazy dangerous time when kids dared to ride bicycles through the park without a full-face crash helmet, shoulder pads, knee protectors and those fashionable steel toed boots required under City Code Section 7-p.

Yes, way back then, it was an unenlightened time to be sure.

O COMMUNITY TREE, O COMMUNI.HUH?

By Bruce Sessions

********** FRIDAY SPECIAL *************

abruce.jpgThe city of Sacramento conducted a very impressive Christmas tree lighting extravaganza. The Christmas tree with thousands of lights was declared to be The Capitol Christmas Tree. News anchors and reporters covering the event, as well as helicopter pilot and channel 3 reporter Dan Shively, made it abundantly clear that this was a Christmas tree (as opposed to a holiday tree.)

During Governor Schwarzeneggers first term, he declared the Capitol Christmas Tree to be a Christmas Tree. He said it was absurd for it to be called anything other than what it was. It was the Capitol Christmas Tree.

Meanwhile, NBC-TV news carried the story of the lighting of the National Christmas Tree in Washington DC, as well as the Christmas tree lighting in Rockefeller Center in New York. All CHRISTMAS trees. Not holiday trees or winter solstice trees.

Here in Chico, there was a tree lighting ceremony at the downtown Plaza. Only, there was no Christmas tree. Oh, dont get me wrong. There WAS a tree with some lights strung on it and star on top, but it wasnt a Christmas tree. It was a COMMUNITY tree. Becky Watner of the Downtown Business Association says Since the tree lighting ceremony is for the community, we have titled the event the Community Tree Lighting. It was never the intention to avoid the term Christmas or to take Christmas out of the equation.

My question isif there was no intent to avoid the term Christmas, or take Christmas out of the equation, why wasnt it referred to as the Community Christmas tree lighting? Or Chico Christmas Tree Lighting? Why are some people embarrassed to use the term Christmas since we all know that the holiday we celebrate IS Christmas? Oh, we might offend the Jews, Muslims, African-Americans, atheistsso we dare not say the word Christmas. That, plus other groups have embedded THEIR holidays (Hanukkah and Kwanzaa) in with Christmas.

I wonder how THEY would feel if we started calling a Menorah a candlestick holder? And for Kwanzaa, how about Convicted Felons Day since its founder, Ron N. Everett AKA Maulana Karenga is a convicted felon, having served time in prison. No, Im sure those groups wouldnt like that at all.

Neither do Christians like having the word Christmas relegated to the trash heap of history, and replaced with holiday tree, community tree and any other funny name that can be conjured up, just to keep from using the word Christmas. Like the governor said, to call a Christmas tree anything other than what it isIS ABSURD!”

Tuskegee Airmen to Attend Obama Inauguration

250px-332ndFighterBriefing1945.jpgPosted by Tina

The invitation was met with wild enthusiasm by one 92-year-old WWII hero:

“I want to come hopping, skipping and jumping!” said 92-year-old Spann Watson, an airman from Westbury, N.Y., who flew above Pennsylvania Avenue for President Harry Truman’s inauguration. “We had a part in changing these United States.”

They certainly did! It was ordinary people like these incredible airmen who deserve the majority of the credit for changing attitudes, breaking down barriers, and opening the chances for equal opportunity in America.

IN 2007 President Bush presented the Congressional Gold Medal to about 300 Tuskegee Airmen at the US Capitol rotunda in Washington DC. 180px-Tuskegee_Airmen_%2B_US_Congressional_Gold_Medals%2C_2007March29.jpg

I solute these veterans and Barack Obama for honoring them in this special way.

Read about the Tuskegee Airmen Here and Here. The official Tuskegee Airmen site offers an opportunity to make a donation for those who would like to help send these veterans to DC.

Hybrids Electric Cars Thou Shalt Saveth Detroit, So Says Libs

by Jack Lee

Lawmakers seem intent on imposing their notions about what sort of cars Detroit should build in exchange for the bailout money. This has the net effect of people who have blown through trillions telling people who have blown through billions how to run their business.

The Prius example gets brought up regularly by politicians as a good example of a popular selling “green” car that gets 48 mpg city and 45 mpg hwy. aPRIUS9.jpg
The Prius sells for around $20,000 and because of that Congress thinks Detroit should be selling something similar and then their problems would be solved, right? Wrong! Prius is Toyota’s halo car, because it’s so politically correct and for that great advertisement Toyota is willing to sell it for nearly zero profit and has been ever since it came out. The Prius is expensive to build because it has two drive trains and in order
