42 Days till Napa Marathon

Well, here I sit.. 4:30 AM, on Martin Luther King Day, with all my running gear on, wolfing down a big bowl of oatmeal.... In just a few minutes, I will head out to Butte College, where I will park, and head out on a 24 mile training run. This will be my second to last long run before the race, I have one more week after next (on the order of 26 miles). So far, my training for this second in my life marathon has gone pretty well. I gotten all the major scheduled runs in, and even been able to keep up on the planned daily runs.

I've also been able to drop my per mile times in the long hill runs quite a bit - which I hope will bode well for a finish much closer to 4 hours than my previous painfull 4 hours and 39 minutes back in 2005. In fact, I even have a new montra that I will be using on race day.....

churchsign - 26.2 in 4.jpg

No, this isn't a real Church sign - it is a nifty little internet program - but it give me a great way to show off my new motto - 26.2 miles in 4.0 hours, or take an ambulance ride. I would love to have this imprinted on my race day jersey....

2008 Frost or Fog Run

Don't forget - this Saturday is the infamous Frost or Fog Race in Bidwell Park. This is always a fun race, with a smaller crowd of die-hard runners (willing to brave frost, fog, or anything else that Mother Nature can dish out). All the details are below in the email from Julie Healy, one of the race co-directors (along with Nikki Stadler). Julie and Nikki do an awesome job putting together these events, so make sure you sign up and show up ready to run. This year both a 5K and 10K run are offered - so you can pick your distance.

Race details and registration is here

Happy New Year Frost or Foggers!

Our charity organization this year is Chico YoungLives, a program dedicated to expectant teens and teen moms. We are excited to support YoungLives and look forward to donating a portion of the proceeds from the event. On race day we will be having an item drive (similar to a food drive) for the young mothers. We will send the YoungLives "wish list" to all Frost or Foggers closer to January 19.

Unable to participate this year but would still like to be a part of the action? We can use your help the day of the event! We have various volunteer opportunities and you get a snazzy sweatshirt for helping! Email back and let me know if you are interested.

Also, a huge thank you to our sponsors - Team Sports, Fleet Feet Chico, River City Heating and Air, Bidwell Perk, Recharge, Mt. Shasta Spring Water, and Raley's! We appreciate their continued support of our event and many other local events! We are always seeking proud sponsors for our event - if you or someone you know would like to be part of the event please have them contact Nikki at 530-966-3241.

We look forward to seeing you on January 19. Please feel free to email Nikki or call her at 530-966-3241 if you have any questions regarding the event.
