Hey Dennis!
Good for you for getting back in the water! If you want some help with your swimming, you're more than welcome to come swim with the Chico Masters at In Motion Fitness. There is always a coach on deck (who also is a Masters swimmer as well) who would be able to give you some pointers to improve your swimming. There is a big group of us who like to do open water swims, so picking our brains might be helpful, too. You don't have to be a member at In Motion to swim with the Masters group, and I doubt you would have to pay to swim a few times with us. You never know, though, you might find you really enjoy the comraderie and choose to swim with us regularly. There are practices at 6:00 a.m., 12:00 noon, and 7:00 p.m. Monday-Friday; there is also a practice at 8:30 a.m. on Saturdays. Hope to see you in the water and good luck!
Wendy Asnault
Hi Wendy,
Thank you so much for the invitation to join your master's group. I was a member at In Motion for years, but left a few years ago when problems with the neighbors caused them to not be able to open the pool until 6:00 AM - the later opening didn't work with my work schedule back then.
Now, I find myself taking my son to school at PV, from Durham, 4 days a week, so the early morning get-togethers are not a possibility, at least for the next 9 months or so until he gets his drivers license (cringe at that thought).
I work in Paradise, so the noon swims won't work... And I try to keep my evenings a free as possible to try to connect with my family. I am, however, intrigued by the Saturday group get together - I could probably ride in on my bike, and get a great brick workout in.
I'll have to see what I can work out with Carl (the owner). He may have some kind of exchange worked out with Beyond Fitness, where I am currently a member.
Thanks again for commenting, and I hope to meet you in the pool some day. I'll be the one flailing around, making lots of noise but not going very fast!!!!
Take care,
Dennis Schmidt
