Egg-cellent Workshop May 22

"If you have chickens and want to know more, or if you have been dreaming of your own free range farm, Don Kehrer will be giving a talk about building chicken coops, basic chicken needs, types of chickens, chicken health check-ups, and so much more. Don has been raising chickens since his 4-H days in the 70’s, is a poultry judge, and knows chickens from egg to adult and back again; Don is a wealth of information. Come with your list of questions."
The workshop will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 22 at the Chico Grange Hall, 2775 Old Nord Avenue (near Rodeo Ave).
This is the first in a series of four "Urban Farming" workshops that have been put together by Chico Grange Hall member and ChicoEco.org website founder Nani Teves.
The other workshops sound equally as cool, and will cover Community Gardens and Gardeners' Swap Meets (July 23), Seed Collecting and Canning (August 17), and Fruit Tree Pruning (December 6).
These are the types of "lost skills" that for many have taken a back seat to emailing and television. It is imperative that we bring them back today, so our children have a healthy world to look forward to tomorrow.
