A Man For All Reasons

Are you against abortion?
Forget for the moment that abortion is a “wedge issue” designed to keep us divided. Do you think Roe v Wade should be overturned? There is only one candidate for president who will work towards that end.
Ron Paul.
On the other hand, do you think the federal government has no place telling a woman what she can do with her body? There is only one candidate for president who will work towards that end.
Ron Paul.
Did your job get shipped overseas? Did you know that corporations get tax breaks to do that? Would you like to change the unfair tax codes that allow that? There is only one candidate who will do that.
Ron Paul.
Are you worried how you will weather the upcoming recession? Are you tired of making less money than your parents, while “the rich get richer?” There is only one candidate who has promised to fix our economy PERMANENTLY so we will never again have to worry how to provide for our families.
Ron Paul.
There is no more important long-term crisis facing our country that the National Debt. It is currently around nine trillion dollars and growing at 17,000 dollars per second. Most candidates for president want to borrow even MORE money to salve our current fears. There is only one candidate who will not only reduce and eliminate the debt; he will enact laws to make sure we never have one again!
Ron Paul.
Are you against illegal immigration? All the candidates but one are internationalists. Internationalists—by definition—do not believe in borders. Can you guess which candidate will secure our borders and make America safe?
Ron Paul.
In November, we will have a clear choice. We can vote for more of the same, or we can vote for
Ron Paul.

Mr Colgan, how can RP work to both stop abortion, and keep the law. He has to be one or the other, and from everything I*ve read, he is against it except in special medical cases. I believe abortion is murder disguised as helping women get out of a careless or thoughtless mistake. Also, the Supreme Court was wrong--its decision was making law not deciding on law. There are so man;y things wrong with that decision; figures show that we have lost about ONE FOURTH of our people since l973. One fourth means people who aren*t here. Who never had a chance--plus, a certain number of fathers of these people objected, to no avail. They weren*t even considered. I now think that abortion has done so much harm to our society that it may well rank first as the overall cause of our disintegration. The legacy of the Feminazis. Now, I like Ron Paul , but how would he go about cutting off ties with Israel? As for this miserable war, my God, if the Iraqis can*t defend themselves by now, they never will. We have sacrificed too much for them already--it was allegedly a war to take out a brutal tyrant who had WMD (I believe he did),and Bush himself said *mission accomplished!*, yet our soldiers are still there, in harms way with rival factions & Al Qaeda, threats from Iran, doing social work with families that is not a soldier*s job! Afghanistan was once under control but still our military and the coalition forces lingered on, now it is aflame again --and Pakistan is a powder keg. WHERE IN HELL does it end??? Or when? I would hope that for starters Paul would deport great numbers of trouble-making Muslims within the US--we don*t need a Trojan horse. Thank you Mr Colgan for listening!

Thank you for writing Alma.
Ron Paul will take the federal government out of the abortion business. If Roe is overturned, the issue will go back to the several states--where it properly belongs. Some states will, no doubt, outlaw abortion entirely. Some will make it even easier to get. Pro-choice folks need not worry, however. Remember that the great "conservative," Ronald Reagan, signed the most liberal abortion law in the country when he was governor of California.
As for your last question, when does it stop? ONLY when a man who holds the principles this nation was founded upon paramount gets elected. That man is Ron Paul.

Well, since you recommended Dr. Paul, Q, so highly I'll take a look.....

Productive member of Congress, served as a flight surgeon in the Air Force, built his own ob/gyn office in a rural county of Texas, and continued to deliver babies in TX even when he was a Congressman. Very good, dedicated, hard working.

In the 1980s in his first farewell address to Congress he said "Special interests have replaced the concern that the Founders had for general welfare." Gotta love it.

Dedicated to individual rights, limited government, private property rights, and free enterprise. All sounds good.

Defender of the 2nd Amendment, suspicious of NAFTA and the WTO, in favor of tighter border security and ending welfare benefits for illegal aliens. All very good.

Paul believes that the feds have overstepped the Constitution in many areas. He's strongly Pro Life, but believes the state, not the feds, should regulate medical decisions. He's also opposed to federal single-payer health care. He would also close down many federal agencies. He's for removing federal regulations that hinder nuclear energy. Good, good, good.

He's a true outsider on the inside. Willing to shake the establishments and stand for his principles, many of which seem to parallel my own.

Here's the "BUT". But he refuses to believe there are terrorists who are striving to destroy us. They want to replace our Freedom with a religion where God commands them to convert non-Muslims, or kill them. He would pull back to our borders and present an Isolationist stance. For me, this is the biggest issue of our day. Paul's refusal to confront Radical Islam in a meaningful way makes him a nonstarter.

And his political campaigns have attracted unscrupulous supporters who have written racist newsletters in his name. Dr. Paul has had to disavow these newsletters, but the incidents have embarrassed him, painting him and his supporters as being obsessed with conspiracies and bigoted against Jews, gays, and blacks.

So, I'm left considering a ballot card of seriously flawed candidates. Is this the best our country can offer to be President?

As always Frank, you make an excellent point. Thank you for writing
Does Dr. Paul refuse to believe in the terrorist threat to this country, or does he refuse to follow the party line on terrorism? After all, he is the only candidate who will actually secure our borders—the most probable route terrorists would use to gain access.
The party line is that our security can be had with ludicrous, impotent measures. My girlfriend is a trim, genteel, middle-aged white woman. Can you honestly say that you are safer because she gets felt up at the airport? Can you name any Republican who has a better plan for this country’s security?
