Obama’s Preacher: Get On The Smear Train!
Have you received the e-mail? Have you seen the video?
The right is all atwitter over comments made by Barack Obama’s preacher.
These comments were not made by Obama, of course, but those in power will stop at nothing to smear the guy.
The argument goes something like, “This guy married Obama and his wife! My God, what kind of judgment does Obama have?”
I watched the video. HERE is the page with the link.
What did the man say that was untrue?
As a nation, we’re mighty damn lucky we won’t be judged by God! We enslaved an entire race of people—and some of our leaders justified it with the Bible, no less! We’ve allowed the abortion of millions of children. Do you think God might have a problem with a few of our actions against our fellow man?
Does the Trail of Tears ring a bell?
How ‘bout Wounded Knee?
Maybe those on the Christian Right—now there’s an oxymoron—think the wholesale slaughter of innocent Iraqis in the pursuit of American interests would be a pardonable sin. I sure as Hell don’t.
True enough, no man can know the mind of God, but if the Bible is any indication, people who have acted like our nation has, might be in a world of hurt in the next life.
Again, we should be glad America won’t be judged.
The good Reverend also made comments about 9/11. Ah, 9/11. Soon to be the new third rail of political debate.
Yup, the Reverend says that 9/11 was God’s wrath for our brutal imperialism throughout history.
Maybe it was!
It’s just his opinion.
I never agreed politically with my clergymen, but then, I was raised a Catholic.
I don’t agree on a lot of things with the friend that sent me the video.
So?
How is that a reflection on my judgment?
If anything, this tempest-in-a-teapot shows Obama’s tolerance for all views. Something Obama’s opponents are sorely lacking.
Don’t get me wrong.
I wouldn’t vote for Obama at gunpoint. The man is a member of the same anti-Constitutional cartel that the other two belong to. Granted, he has charisma in spades (can I say that?), but a charismatic, good-looking, Black fascist is still a fascist. His election isn’t really going to change anything.
Even as I write this, Obama is playing the political game, condemning his minister’s words but not his ministry. You see? He’s a team player!
Gag.
The man told the truth and expressed his opinion. Nothing more, nothing less.
I can’t wait for November 5th!

Quentin at least we had one agreement in a row (lol). Now for my counter-point and I must somewhat disagree that Obama is fascist, althought I can see where you are coming from. My point is in the end result between far left and far right and here is the difference:
"Fascism is an authoritarian political ideology (generally tied to a mass movement) that considers the individual subordinate to the interests of the state, party or society as a whole. Fascists seek to forge a type of national unity, usually based on (but not limited to) ethnic, cultural, racial, religious attributes. (All true with Obama, so far so good) Various scholars attribute different characteristics to fascism, but the following elements are usually seen as its integral parts: patriotism, nationalism, statism, militarism, totalitarianism, anti-communism. (Ah-ha, there it is anti-communism! Obama supports and endorses socialism and he has his whole life. A fascist or a communist begin as a common thread, but diverge in their manner of the theft from the rich down to modest means! And there is a big difference at the end of this nasty tunnel.
Next, I would not underestimate the influence the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. on his Congregation and of course that includes Obama and his wife who are part of it. They have been captivated by this man since Obama joined the church over 20 years ago.
Rev. Wright is a powerful speaker, very influential and virtually given the seal of approval by a majority in his black community and association of black pastors, including the rabid racist, Louis Farrakhan. (We could spend hours just detailing the delusional thoughts of Farrakahn)
Amazingly Rev. Wright pays homage to Louis Farrakhan by giving a "Lifetime Achievement" award???! For what, being an anti-semite, a nut job who believes in a Muslim mother ship floating around earth, about the black Kings who invented the white race in a test tube?
I quote from Rev. Wright now, "The black value system, which was developed by the congregation, by laypersons of the congregation, 26 years ago, very similar to the gospel developed by laypersons in Nicaragua during the whole (communist) liberation theology movement, 26, 28, 30 years ago, yes."
He believes in black values, not the inalienable values without respect to race, of all people. I have a problem with that narrow perspective and it reminds me of those people who believed in white ONLY values.
What would you call the latter, who believed in white only values?
This inquiry on Rev. Wright is absolutely relevant because Wright is the spiritual mentor for Obama, where ethics and values are molded over time. We have every right to know how our potential president thinks about racism, about values and his personal ethics.
Rev. Wright frequently uses terms like, “white arrogance” and “the United States of Whiter America.” And recently he called the United States the U. S. of KKK A.
I don't think y-o-u are in the Klan and and I doubt that .02% of the American population belongs to the Klan, but in Rev. Wright's mind, he labels all of us "whites", and we become the United KKK of America? Unbelievable...just absoutely unbelievable that in this day anyone but a foolish biggot could think that way!
Obama is very close to Rev. Wright on many levels and that raises many questions for me. I want to know how much of the Pastor's beliefs are shared by Obama?
Does he really think America is the problem and not the solution to most of the world's problems? Wright does. Does he really think we were wrong to bomb Nagasaki and Hiroshima to end WWII and save a blood bath of American and allied lives by shortening the war by a year or more? Wright does. Does he really think Jews in Israel are like terrorists and Palestinians are righteous victims of oppression and freedom fighters? Wright does. And there is so much more that is outrageous and wrong that Rev. Wright believes without question and more importantly without merit or supportive facts.
There are hard questions that must asked to Obama, that were raised by the Reverend's statements because he is a spiritual leader and advisor to Obama.
So far we have not seen the press ask any tough question of Obama. They have more or less given him a pass on these things and more.
The press of course held Mitt Romney to an entirely different standard for his religious beliefs.
Like you I wouldn't vote for Obama either, but full disclosure for any presidential candidate is fair and responsible and so far he has not been held accountable to giving very much disclosure.
For example, we know very little about the legislation he has supported, except his rather unusual view on abortion.
In closing I do not assume guilt by association, but it does some prudent that a reasonable person who wishes to be an informed voter would inquire further, especially if he or she is considering voting for the man.
I think our agreements on Obama would far outweigh our disagreements on technical points. He is a bad presidential candidate in my opinion and that is the bottom line we share. I enjoyed reading your commentary and it inspired me to a little deeper level of thought on this subject, so thank you for that part too!
