Dihydrogen Monoxide
It appears that in the quest to save our planet from dangerous chemicals, people will blindly sign anything. Read more about this dangerous chemical here: http://www.dhmo.org/ It's "an odorless, tasteless chemical" that can be deadly if accidentally inhaled.
This chemical is so dangerous that a local city council in Aliso Viejo, CA put it on the agenda to ban foam containers made with it. I expect our liberal city council may soon address this danger like we've already done for nuclear weapons in the city limits.

I was pulling this joke on some highly enthusiastic but somewhat neglectful of fact eco-folks back in high school some (ahem) n years ago. (By the way, I was a member of the school's Ecology Club. We started and and ran the first recycling center in the state of California with the help of the Coors Brewing Company which underwrote the study and provided us with a can crusher and transportation.)
The more cynical among us might think that, indeed, "There's a sucker born every minute".

Dihydrogen Monoxide is also known to be a powerful greenhouse gas in its vapour form. I think it should be banned.
