Some comments accidentally deleted
A number of spam comments came today which required deletion (becuase the Moveable Type SPAM filter is too weak to keep such drivel out) and in the process of deleting them, I also deleted about 8-10 comments from the last 12 hours. My apologies.
I'll be moving to a new blog soon since Moveable Type has been a PITA for quite awhile and limits my ability to present things in a decent manner.

Notoriety rears it's ugly head. It was bound to happen.
On the bright side,I just found out from Simon, via Classical Values, your name is being bandied about in the halls of congress. Well at least on one side of the hall.
Numerous U.S. temperature collection data errors exposed by team of researchers led by Meteorologist Anthony Watts in 2007 (LINK) - “The (U.S.) National Climate Data Center (NCDC) is in the middle of a scandal. Their global observing network, the heart and soul of surface weather measurement, is a disaster. Urbanization has placed many sites in unsuitable locations — on hot black asphalt, next to trash burn barrels, beside heat exhaust vents, even attached to hot chimneys and above outdoor grills! The data and approach taken by many global warming alarmists is seriously flawed. If the global data were properly adjusted for urbanization and station siting, and land use change issues were addressed, what would emerge is a cyclical pattern of rises and falls with much less of any background trend,” Meteorologist Joseph Conklin wrote in an August 10, 2007 blog post.
Maybe that congressional link is giving you fleas...
Heh.

Anthony, et. al.
In re: Hansen, etc. Someone who has the time and research resources needs to try to reconstruct some history of which I can only recall bits and pieces. Back around 1976, NASA proposed to shut Goddard, as their space work was mostly done, and NASA was in a funding bind. Well, you know what happens when you propose to put a bunch of useless deadwood out to pasture. They begin to furiously dig for new reasons, any reasons, to justify their jobs. Prior to this time, earth sciences were being done by a more competent group elsewhere in NASA. However, the global warming/global cooling issue was coming to a head, and seemed like a good place to jump in. First, however, the Ozone hole was "discovered", and it went from there. All bogus, all invented to bring in funding and keep the place open. My principal sources at the time were Science and Science News Letter and other periodicals available at my then place of work, but I have neither the time nor resources to go back and put all this back together, and I am sure some of these details are incorrect due to an aging memory. In any event, it seems to me that someone needs to bring these skeletons out of the closet and publicize the truth.

Our team won a very very big victory today. The Senate Democrats agreed to reign in Jerry Brown's office and defer law suits over GW into 2009.
