Townhall.com on the NASA “Y2K” Error
By Steve McIntyre
"Here’s an interesting article on the NASA “Y2K” error from Michael Fumento of Townhall.com that steers between the over-reaction of some commentators that this error somehow disproves global warming and the claims of NASA spokesmen, James Hansen and Gavin Schmidt, that the error “doesn’t matter”. NASA spokesman Schmidt uses the realclimate.org website to advance the view that the error “doesn’t matter” without explicitly identifying himself in the article as a NASA spokesman."
The last 2 paragraphs of the Townhall.com story on page 2 sums it up well.
Comments
"No, it’s important because we have a far more sophisticated system of temperature monitoring than countries with far larger land masses. Hence, data from each of these nations affect the global model more than the American data."
And that is the gold speck, here, isn't it? The "outside world" has had a mere glimpse of the ongoing stations project. We, OTOH, harbor our suspicions.

The biggest surprise to me after reading this article was learning there is a journalist out there that falls smack in the middle of Rush Limbaugh and Sharon Begley.

Now wait just a cotton pickin' minute! Do you mean to say that Michael Fumento is 1/2 talented hyperbolic blowhard and 1/2 gifted genius wordsmith?
On second thought, maybe it is a fair assessment. Nevermind.

I would have thought so, Evan, until I started reading this blog.

I'm still going over it, but hey think about this: It's all going mainstream now baby! More and more all the time. There's no such thing as bad publicity (basicially, generally).

Fumento understates the case for the actual temperature adjustment because the US is 6% of the land and North America is 16% - the US pattern appears to apply at least to Canada and ergo all of North America (US and Canada are 14% of North America).

Bernie.
We all know that Canada does not matter one wit.
Other than Hockey, Mike Meyers, Steve McIntyre, Ice Road Truckers, and Tom Green, name one darn thing canada has done for the continent? If you say Celine' Dion I will retch.
Bonus points if you say Pam anderson. You win if you say Neil Young.

I made a mistake: Canada and USA are 14% of the global land mass, and approximately 85% of North America.

That's easy - Leslie Nielsen.
"... and stop calling me Shirley."

You forgot about Rush (the band), beer, and the zamboni.

What I would be interested in is the ratio of American stations to the rest of the world, for the 1934.
Where did I leave that Sinan link? Hmmm.

Bernie shoots, he scores.
Leslie Neilson is up there with Jim Carey, Mike Meyers, etc etc
Gretsky would also have been a goal. When he played with LA it made living there bearable.
Now,
MYRON MYRON MYRON.
I have two comments.
1. I do not know what is more embarassing. Admitting you like Rush ( the band) or posting under the name Myron.
2. You just kicked the puck in your own goal.

Dang, I gave bernie credit for papertigers goal.
Ahhh, bernie gets the assist, tiger get the goal. Myron, you still have a game suspension for mentioning the band Rush.
Admit that Nickleback is the best canadian band ever and you will skate to live another day... or smething like that

Ya it kinda sucks when you screw up the names on snappy comebacks... Especially when you actually have the time to check your quick wit. I beclowned myself. However, upon reanalysis you were given credit for the goal.

You forgot Trishia Helfer Bernie.

Nickleback (wuss rock)? Call me "Ogie Oglethorpe"...I'll take the suspension.
