A Request for Mayan Priests

by Tina Grazier

Down in Guatamala City Mayan Priests plan to purify a sacred archaeological site to eliminate “bad spirits” after President Bushs visits, according to an official with ties to the group.

“That a person like (Bush), with the persecution of our migrant brothers in the United States, with the wars he has provoked, is going to walk in our sacred lands, is an offense for the Mayan people and their culture,” Juan Tiney, the director of a Mayan nongovernmental organization with close ties to Mayan religious and political leaders, said Thursday.

The first part of this statement reflects ignorance of our presidents support of immigration policies for legal admission to our country. The reference to the war is not worth addressingthe media has done its usual job of slamming a republican president around the world. But I have a sincere question asked with deep respect for the priests

Could you please expend an equal measure of energy praying for the prosperity of the people of Guatemala so they can provide for their families in their own homeland?
