It’s Been A Long Week

T -G- I- F!!!!

It’s been one long, rough week here at Post Scripts! I’ve found myself twice in the uncomfortable position of Bush bashing. My conscience says I have to be an equal opportunity critic, but it’s painful and I wouldn’t do it unless I felt something productive might come from it. Maybe next week will be better? I hope so, but I will still have to call em like I see em.

Now out at the ranch where my main job is, everything that could go wrong did..karma for bashing Bush I guess. A main water line busted, then the wind came up and we couldn’t spray, that’s put us behind. The last irrigation only got about 85% of the trees and we need 100%. Now we have to do some ditch work to move the water, even though we leveled the land just 3 years ago for flood irrigation. It’s always something. If that wasn’t enough, I started flail mowing to keep the weeds down between the tree rows and the tractor water pump went out! In the last week I have been a mechanic, a farm laborer and a plumber, prior to that I was welder and hay hauler! lol Small operations demand you do it all, we can’t afford not too!

In this business your partner is Mother Nature and she always keeps you guessing. And complaining about it all is a farmers favorite pastime…thanks for indulging me.

However, on the plus side this week I did manage to find time to make two important meetings for the International Police Officer’s Association and the Butte County Retired Officers Association and my exploration committee for the Assembly is moving right along with election ideas. We’ve developed some good connections and innovative and less expensive ways how to run the election. My candidate papers from the state elections haven’t arrived yet, so I’m not going to commit to running until everything is ready…this also means I still have time to back out! lol
