Democrat Governor Ed Rendell Deals the Race Cardto Conservatives

by Tina Grazier

Over the last month or so race became an issue of concern in the Democrat presidential primary. The flap began over seperate comments made by Bill and Hillary Clinton that were pointed enough to cause concerns about racial slurs in some black circles.

Donna Brazile, a leading black Democrat strategist and former Clinton insider, said that many African-Americans had found his comments condescending. “For him to go after Obama using ‘fairy tale’, calling him a kid, is an insult,” she said. “As an African-American, I find his words and his tone very depressing.” *** Mr Clinton’s damage-limitation exercise came after his wife also provoked controversy by appearing to diminish the achievements of Martin Luther King. She said it took President Lyndon B Johnson to implement the reforms that the assassinated civil rights leader had championed. Aides to Mrs Clinton acknowledged she had “mis-spoken” in her effort to make clear that change required action not just words – the basis for her frequent attacks on Mr Obama’s campaign rhetoric of hope and optimism. *** Mrs Clinton recently parted company with campaign aides who circulated emails inaccurately describing her rival as a Muslim, or suggesting that he would be targeted by Republicans for alleged drug-dealing because he admits taking cocaine as a teenager.

Yesterday a prominent democrat attempted to pass the racist image off to conservatives:

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) Gov. Ed Rendell, one of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s most visible supporters, said some white Pennsylvanians are likely to vote against her rival Barack Obama because he is black. ** “You’ve got conservative whites here, and I think there are some whites who are probably not ready to vote for an African-American candidate,” Rendell told the editorial board of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in remarks that appeared in Tuesday’s paper. ** Later Tuesday, Rendell’s spokesman said the governor did not mean to offend anyone. “He was simply making an observation about the unfortunate nature of some parts of American society,” said spokesman Chuck Ardo. “He wasn’t being critical, he wasn’t making accusations, but just being realistic.”

He wasnt being criticalno, of course not! Democrats are too inclusive and kind; they wouldnt dreeeeam of being critical. These comments are just “realistic” (everyone knows conservatives are racists), and they are acceptable (everyone does it) and reasonable (everyone does it) to deflect attention away from our own prejudices and racist comments by smearing, damaging or ruining the reputations of our rivals.

I’d just like to say I deeply resent the implication that conservatives are racist and that they would make choices for president, or anything else, based on race. His ridiculous assertion contains at least two implied lies: 1. Conservatism is the “home” of racisism in America 2. The Democrat Party doesn’t have racist members.

Please vote wisely in November.
