Freedoms Enemy Slavish Addiction to Multiculturalism

by Tina Grazier

What would you be willing to give up simply to appear inclusive? Some things are worth sacrificing in order to get along. Its wise to give up things like pride or a contentious attitude within a family, business or organization, in neighborhood settings, on playgrounds and in meetings. But is it wise to cower when faced with uncomfortable or difficult situations, to run from reason, to allow the demise of structures that support and secure our liberties?

Salim Mansur,Toronto Sun, has written a brilliant piece, Multiculturism is a sedative. It offers sustenance to those who continue to act with courage in defending our culture. America was born of the concepts of individual freedom: life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. These are worth defending.

Read the article, fellow pilgrims, and feed the warrior within. Mr. Mansur, recalling the words of Malcom Muggeridge, adds the following from his own warrior spirit:

The strength of the West measured in terms of freedom — of Prometheus unbound and its creative spirit unleashed soaring upwards despite risks — resides in its assimilative capacity and openness to share its freedom with those beyond its cultural boundaries seeking the same. ** Yet keeping the West strong requires perseverance and vigilance. The spirit that soars also can sag through fatigue, the creative can begin to lose fecundity, freedom can become corrupted in time, and decay can loom over that culture ever larger. ** It is in these circumstances that false hope readily may be planted and false remedy readily sold. The curative unthinkingly bought turns out to be medicine hastening the end. ** Multiculturalism is in appearance the most pleasing of liberal barbiturates offered to stave off the West’s demographic decline through immigration. For it to work the requirement demanded is suspension of critical and discriminating thinking replaced by politically correct speech that must offend none except, if need be, the patient (the West) requiring the cure. (emphasis mine)

Assimilation is a reasonable expectation for the purpose of keeping American values and culture alive. If we give up this demand we give up the very things that make America unique and wonderful. Let others come here to embrace our culture. Let them take the steps necessary to ensure their inclusion into our culture. The beauty of America is that no one is required to give up his heritage…only to expand to include and adopt another, putting it first. In America we are Americans who, at times, celebrate and share our foreign roots. We cannot defend the freedom that supports and celebrates our differences if we do not defend our borders, welcoming others to our shores by legal and measured means.
