Sarah Palin wowed em on Saturday Night and got great ratings, but did she get any votes? SNL has been unmercifully mean-spirited, in effect pulling down McCain’s pants on a regular basis, but he shows up and in the spirit of good sportsmanship, does his own self-deprecating gag, playing along with the SNL’s age joke and alluding that Palin was not his best choice. Sure, it was funny, sure it got ratings, but did it get any votes and did it help his stature? I guess that part (stature) that bothered me most, was it Presidential? Is comic entertainment on SNL or Letterman what we have come to expect from our Presidential candidates? If it is, it reafirms my feeling about low-brow voters. Obama had the poorest showing of all, coming off stiff and stodgy…but, then isn’t that what we would expect from a President?
“John McCain displayed reasonable if not proficient comedic timing on ” Saturday Night Live,” and a sense of lan, even if “lan” is the absolute last thing he’s feeling right now. His final “SNL” outing definitely didn’t hurt, but it was also – oddly enough – poignant. Maybe even a little sad.” CNBC
The last skit done just before the election was the sort of thing you might expect to see weeks after the election was over, when the sharp pain of losing had moderated and the healing had begun. I just wish they wouldn’t go there…it’s not dignified and I don’t think it helps, even if it did, is that what the direction we want to go? What’s next, Obama and Biden in black face doing a little tap dance for our entertainment and amusement? Please,…enough already!
