How safe is it really in Mexico? Some of our readers have written in to assure you that its perfectly safe to vacation in Mexico. Well, lets consult with an expert. He is none other than Mexicos leading General, Mauro Enrique Tello Quinones. He has accepted the job to fight drugs in Cancun. This is a man who knows the score.
Im sorry, the General isnt available. He’s dead. He lasted two days before he was kidnapped. Police said he was then methodically tortured before he was shot dead and his body was dumped along a road littered with rubbish, very near the resort town he was supposed to protect.
His two dead body guards were also found with him. An autopsy showed they all had their arms and legs broken and endured extensive and methodical torture before they were shot in the head. Can you imagine what the reaction would be if this happened here to say General Petraeous or Colin Powell? But, in Mexico it’s just another day at the beach.
On the border comes this horrifying story just two hours ago.. 21 killed! CIUDAD JUAREZ, A drug gang kidnapped and killed six people setting off gunbattles with soldiers that left 15 others dead.
Just last month an Anti-kidnapping expert was kidnapped in Mexico. The U.S. consultant was in Mexico to offer advice on confronting abductions. U.S. security consultant Felix Batista was in Saltillo in Coahuila state to offer advice on how to confront abductions for ransom when he himself was seized. He has not been heard from since.
