It is highly debatable whether waterboarding constitutes torture. Navy Seals, Army Special Forces, and many other military people undergo waterboarding routinely as part of their training. Yes, it feels like you are drowning, but you really are not. Nobody ever drowned or suffered injury. It’s a bluff.
Now the word is out, and we could not use the bluff again even if it was allowed by the rules. The Islamic terrorists took a solemn religious oath to resist interrogation all the way up to the point of imminent death.
However, once death seemed imminent, their religious beliefs allowed them to cooperate without offense to Allah. That is why the interrogation methods worked.
They thought they were about to drown, so they could give up their evil plans. Now, of course, all the Al Qaida training camps are instructing these maniacs that the Ameicans were only bluffing.
