STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARED: The Governor of California has declared a State of Emergency in response to the growing concern about the spread of swine flu, freeing up resources to combat the possible outbreak across the state.
According to our sources federal authorities are removing the only two known antiviral prescription medications from all Pharmacies in CA. Tamiflu (Oseltamivir) and the inhaler type Zanamivir will no longer available to the public. The CDC is now controlling these items. The siezure was done in the event of an epidemic and panic buying by nervous citizens not actually infected.
The public is encouraged to stay calm and act responsibly. For more information on this subject click here or go to the CDC site for latest information. Click here for the CDC.
The CDC says there are everyday actions people can take to stay healthy:
Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hands cleaners are also effective.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.
Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
Influenza is thought to spread mainly person-to-person through coughing or sneezing of infected people.
If you get sick, CDC recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.
Worst flu ever recorded: The influenza pandemic of 1918-1919 killed more people than the Great War, known today as World War I (WWI), at somewhere between 20 and 40 million people. It has been cited as the most devastating epidemic in recorded world history. More people died of influenza in a single year than in four-years of the Black Death Bubonic Plague from 1347 to 1351. Known as “Spanish Flu” or “La Grippe” the influenza of 1918-1919 was a global disaster.
