Pre-viewing the Jobs Summit

Office and manufacturing buildings are looking pretty empty these days. So are the service industries that are supported when American have jobs and extra jingle in their pockets to spend. So far this administration has done nothing positive to support the private sector so that they can feel confident enough to move forward and hire people. Hence, we are stuck with a lot of people out of work, people working but worrying about getting a pink slip, and bosses that are holding their breath and wondering how many months they can hold on. This is absolutely criminal. But don’t worry…the administration that has zero experience in business, and therefore may not even realize how jobs are created, has a plan. He will have a special meeting! a meeting so special, that he will call it a summit. How’s that boys and girls? An actual jobs summit. I don’t think it’s time yet, however to send in that resume:

“The President’s December Job Summit,” by Lee Cary – American Thinker

The idea of a “summit” is typical of a community organizer mentality. Convene the stakeholders, let them vent about the problem, give a shout-out to those already engaged in efforts to address the problem, get at least one member of the “establishment” that caused the trauma to attend and be contrite, define a vague action plan, stress the need for the whole community to get actively involve, break into small groups to discuss the issues, put people’s thoughts on flip chart paper, have the break-out groups’ scribes report back to the larger group, be sure everyone signs their names and contact information on a clipboard, and then schedule a few interviews with the local media to exaggerate the outcomes of the event. ** As the Summit ends in December, the room will be all a-buzz with optimism and bonhomie. Then nothing will change. It’s about feeling good, not doing good.

This is both lame and sick. Mr. President, it’s really quite simple. If you want to dazzle the nation, put three things at the top of your priority list: 1. business and personal tax cuts, 2. business friendly regulation, and 3. broker some trade deals!

Unless of course you have no intention of seeing people get back to work. Hmmmm….

(added T 8:28pm) But wait…maybe the Asians can enlighten our prezzy:

“Asia’s Better Idea” – Investors Business Daily

East Asian and Pacific nations are expected to post average growth of 7.8% in 2010, according to an upwardly revised estimate from the World Bank. It’s an astonishing recovery, given the depth of the recent recession. ** IMF and other data show some of the highest rates in the four countries Obama visits this week: China, 9%; South Korea, as high as 5.3%; Japan, 1.7%; Singapore, 4.3%. Asia accounts for 30% of global GDP, and China wins as the world’s best-performing economy. ** As Obama himself might say: It’s a teachable moment…South Korea, China and Singapore embrace capitalism, free trade, deregulation and partnerships. They have no use for socialism, Big Labor demands or scapegoats.

How do you say, “Mr. President, Reagan was right!” in Chinese?
