Read the story in the Mail Online.
They are the wrong color.
I am, yet again, so terribly confused. Are these people NOT supposed to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps?
Is not the Obama administration the very fount of liberal excess?
No, alas, our federal government is only the epitome of ineptitude marking all human endeavor, be it publicly or privately funded.
Will you NEVER see this?
Libby: “Are these people NOT supposed to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps?”
You can’t get the concept because of the nasty little cruelty scales that cover your eyes.
our federal government is only the epitome of ineptitude marking all human endeavor, be it publicly or privately funded.
Coming from you Libby this sudden incredulity is a bit much. You have sung the praises of big government from day one.
Bush’s FEMA was all kind of inept even when everything that could be done was being done but under the magic of Obama no such ineptitude exists even when it is blatantly obvious! This story appeared in a British paper (the photo taken from a local paper in Texas).
“Will you NEVER see this?”
We have always said government is innefficient, bloated, and wasteful.
Libby you are a joke, a sick joke.
I thought Libby was voicing sarcasm at conservatives, did not think she was serious.
Don’t feel bad Harriet, we’ve all made the same mistake. But, I can assure you Libby is for real even when you think she has to be kidding! lol
The Daily Mail is a tabloid. I’m looking for an actual news source that has reported this story, and I can’t find one. Can anyone provide one for me?
“Coming from you Libby this sudden incredulity is a bit much. You have sung the praises of big government from day one.”
I hereby challenge you to come up with any assertion by me that our big government is any more effective than the doofus citizens that run it.
What I assert is that taxes into the kitty more effectively minister to the civic good, than does some high-end, catered fundraiser, wherein the wealthy are feted and 20%, if that, of the take goes to the charity.
Libby: “I hereby challenge you to come up with any assertion by me that our big government is any more effective than the doofus citizens that run it.”
The phrase that repeats and repeats in my ear is:
“You’ll pay it and like it!” delivered with an amazing harumph! That’s constitutes support for big government in my book.
“What I assert is that taxes into the kitty more effectively minister to the civic good, than does some high-end, catered fundraiser, wherein the wealthy are feted and 20%, if that, of the take goes to the charity.”
Well you’d be wrong about that both in emergency situations and help for the poor.

I can direct my own dollars to private charity…not so with government. I can observe the effectiveness of programs and donate or withold my money based on performance…not so with government.
A lot of volunteers work in private charitable work. This makes it a more personal endeavor and keeps costs down.
Government directors are paid on average about $240K. Private charities average about the same.
(There are, as you have said, bad apples in every barrel)
Rich people involved in philanthropy should be thanked…not desparaged, for pity’s sake!
“Bush’s FEMA was all kind of inept even when everything that could be done was being done but under the magic of Obama no such ineptitude exists even when it is blatantly obvious!”
How says this? The only person saying this is Post Scripts … re-posting this piece like it is some ineptitude peculiar to a democratic administration. It’s not. It’s quite common in all human endeavors, public and private, Dem and Repug. But you have to admit, that Katrina fiasco will hold the crown for some years to come.
Katrina was a huge disaster on many levels. Democrat governors and mayors were particularly inept. But the most obvious failures came from a media that put its agenda to hurt a sitting president above any obligation to inform the public or assist the many people who volnteered time, energy, and money in helping those people.
