Councilman and attorney Andy Holcombe (shown left) has helped to stir up racial tensions again, this time by being a lead character in a public meeting on alleged racial profiling by the Chico Police Department. CPD racists? lol Give me a break…these guys are anything but!

Ah, but too many minorities are being harassed by police, thinks lawyer Holcombe! He says in just the last two years he has had “several” anonymous, unsupported complaints alleging racial profiling. Golly gee, several anonymous, unsubstantiated, complaints? So, we have (allegedly) two or three, unsupported complaints in two freaking years and this justifies in his mind holding a public meeting where you invite all the kooks and anyone with an axe to grind to show up and make disparaging remarks about the character of our outstanding police officers? That’s just stupid.

He’s a far left liberal city councilman going out of his way to dredge up racial tensions where none exist, at least NOT on the part of the police…they go out of their way to avoid ANY problems with the law abiding community. CPD isn’t perfect, but they have some of the most responsible officers to be found anywhere. This is why I find this public hearing alleging police racism so offensive.

You don’t encourage a potentially volatile meeting like this unless you have a darn good reason…and there is none. There’s no evidence to say CPD is doing anything wrong!

Cop complainers have a long history of being fakers, liars and having hidden agendas. Perhaps they got a well deserved traffic ticket or they were busted for drugs or a theft and this “profiling” committee is now encouraging these bums to turn their anger into another big lie to sell the public. Makes me wonder what’s Holcombe’s hidden agenda, what’s his beef with the cops?

Now that the allegations have been made and the police have been smeared maybe we should take a good look at these complainers and let’s hear from the cops and get both sides of the story?

Those who cry racism the loudest are frequently racist themselves. Likewise, those who cry racial profiling are usually guilty of it themselves. Andy Holcombe practices racism when he disregards the views of middle aged white men and women in favor of those of people of color. Also, he engages in racial profiling when he singles out the white male police officers against whom to make disparaging remarks?

My first thought about this is, another cheap liberal self serving politician drumming up attention for themselves from the loopy fringe alignment of their voting base. Chico PD is like you mention not perfect, mostly due to budget issues (due to cost cuts by the very same Andy Holcombe) however they have realigned call importance and work within given parameters with both the officers and ranking personal going the distance to provide safety and security for Chico. Sadly our City council goes out of their way to continue to reduce their budget, and endanger our safety, and for what? adding another halfway house buying more vacant land or even proposing the creation of a homeless village that adds to the budget burden woes of us tax payers. Andy Holcombe and company are nothing more than a budget busting burden to both the CPD and Chico’s population

Good points Sue, thanks for the input!

    Thanks Jack.

This made me mad too. I wrote to Holcombe about it, and he argued me back. I’m posting the exchange at my blog:

I wish more people would e-mail him. He needs to go. I wish he’d just step down and forget about reelection. But this is obviously his ploy for reelection.

I’ve watch Andy Holcombe for the many years he has been on the Council and clearly his motivation is to satisfy his liberal progressive supporters. Unfortunatly, to do this he continues to make decisions that don’t make any sense and are not in the best interests of the whole city. Many of his votes may have helped him politically but have cost the City of Chico millions. Remember the burn dump vote and the subsequent law suit.I challange anyone reading this to list his accomplishments as a Council member (other than getting relected). One of his proposals that really stands out in my mind is his proposal to create a City sanctioned homeless encampment. He actually thought this was a resonable way to address the problem. In my opinion, it’s kind of like finding a person stuck down in the bottom of a deep hole and the way you decide to help is to furnish it for them. Fortunately enough people came out against this proposal that he immediately dropped it. That really sums up his activities on the Council; a lot of “half-baked” ideas, very little consideration of the consequences, and “backbone” that flaps in the political breeze. Time to move on Andy!

You should have heard Will Clark (President of the Police Officers Association) put Andy in his place last night at the City Council meeting during “Business from the Floor”. I would have stood up and cheered, but I didn’t want to get the gavel and the evil eye from Mayor Schwab. So, afterwards, I went up to him, shook his hand and thanked him for saying what needed to be said. The great thing is that during business from the floor, the councilors are not allowed to comment. So, Andy had to just sit there and get red in the face. You should go on to the city’s website and watch it on video.

did you guys see the “late breaking” story in the ER?

Looks like Andy got his pants caught on his own pitchfork, and is doing a little do-si-do around his earlier comments.

Hey Andy, watch out for that…oooooops!
