Speaking to Congress (Republicans) these were among the words President Obama had to say following reports that unemployment dropped from 8.5 to 8.3 percent in January. The statement reveals a certain cheek, an arrogance unbecoming the man that has presided over the worst recovery from recession in recent decades. It’s particularly disturbing since there is so much more going on in our economy that reflects the poor conditions facing Americans every day. But this is not unexpected, Obama is a man that shows little interest in the American people as a whole. He is an ideologue interested in his redistribution policies. Millions of people still don’t have good jobs. Many of them are the young and minorities. The housing situation is also still deplorable and caused in large part by the policies of democrats in past years as well as the unworkable policies enacted since Obama took office.
Obama is positioning to blame republicans in congress for whatever bad news follows. This is not the stuff of leadership.
It will not be reported in the MSM (it never is), in a 2 or 3 weeks more accurate numbers will creep out and they will not be pretty. Tina you call it “the worst recovery from a recession” the worst recovery would be better then what we have.
“It is not the stuff of Leadership” you are correct Tina, but it is the stuff of Obama.
Hey … that Congress has been sittin’ on its hands for two years, … long years … and they’re gonna catch it, no matter what.
Obama’s numbers are up. Congress’s are still in the single digits. We’re not blind, deaf or dumb, ya know!
The American Thinker has some details from the Board of Labor Statistics report:

“Obama is a man that shows little interest in the American people as a whole.”
Really? He’s been pushing hard, against wealthy vested interests, for univeral health care, among other things.
Whereas … you candidate has said, out loud, come on, you heard it … really … Romney is the very embodiment of the problem, and has not a shot in hell of getting elected.
Libby: “We’re not blind, deaf or dumb, ya know!”
Glad to hear this, then you’ll be able to read and understand the below. The problem is not a, “Do nothing Congress” it’s a do nothing Senate.
Reid: No, I dont plan to bring a budget to the floor this year.

Speaker Boehner Urges President Obama to Call on Senate Democrats to Pass Bipartisan, House-Passed Jobs Bills He Endorsed.
So this week, the president endorsed many of those House-passed bills and he said hes sending them up to Congress. Well we appreciate the presidents good intentions but the House has already done its work. To speed this process along, the president really needs to call on the Democrat-run Senate to take up these bills. They could pass them right now and the president could sign them.
You know, the last year, the House passed the Small Company Capital Formation Act. It allows small businesses to attract more investors so that they can turn their entrepreneurial ideas into jobs. Its sitting right now in the Democrat-controlled Senate.
Last year, the House passed the Entrepreneur Access to Capital Act. It allows entrepreneurs to raise money so they can invest in their business and hire more workers. Its sitting in the Democrat-controlled Senate.
Last year, the House passed the Fairness for High Skilled Immigrants Act. It would make sure that visas better match up with holes in the American workforce. Its sitting in the Democrat Senate. All they have to do is pick it up and pass it.
And last year, the House passed a bill to allow small businesses to expense the purchase of new equipment. Its sitting right now in the Democrat-controlled Senate.
These are four of the bills the president said he was going to send up here for us. Well, guess what Mr. President, weve done our work. Call Harry Reid and see if the Senates ever going to do anything over there.
Now listen, these are some areas of commonground. And so the president said hell sign these, I dont know what the Senate Democrats are waiting for.

U.S. debt is now equal to economy:
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/story/2012-01-08/debt-equals-economy/52460208/1
I, for one, prefer a Do Nothing Congress. If only we had a Do Nothing President, we would all be better off.
I would support that Soaps. If I had a choice, I would prefer the government spend the next 100 years refining the laws and reforming the system than to pass one more new bill!
Sorry, my mistake duplicating some of my previous post.
Point being, when Obama says it’s a, “Do nothing Congress” he should be saying it’s a do nothing Senate.
The House passed dozens of job related bills that could have helped get people back to work, but since Reid refused to bring it to the floor of the Senate for a vote and conference with the House they are as good as in a black hole.
If Obama said he would sign some of these bills, why hasn’t Reid brought them forth? Could he just be giving Obama more fuel for his do nothing Congress statement and believe people will believe it if it’s constantly repeated? That’s been their game-plan in the past and until people wake up and get the facts it will work again.
Ladies, you need to read up on your civics. That’s what the Senate is for … to restrain the rowdy heathens in the House.
Now, were the House not full of rowdy heathens, maybe we could get something constructive done.
You’re saying the Senate is supposed to stop us from having a projected/operating budget instead of instead of having to deal with raising our debt ceiling every couple of months? Obama has been the president for over three years and there hasn’t been a budget for over a thousand days. Hummm a thousand days and three years, something aligns up there.
And even when Obama says he’ll sign a specific bill that has already passed the House you’re saying it’s the House’s fault even though Reid is the one that won’t bring the bill to the Senate floor?
Did you not read any of the job producing bills listed above? You’re saying it’s the House’s fault Obama hasn’t done anything and I’m saying read it and weep the proof is right there in black and white for those who are interested in the truth and not pandering their political party.
I do believe with the billions that Obama will have in his campaign war chest he will be able to continue to hide the truth and even buy his way into a second term. He already has a couple of hundred working at his headquarters with the most up-to-date technical and media connections. All of this already underway and operating and its only the primary.
Yeah lets applaud the Senate’s restraint of legislation that the president says he’d approve, that was passed with bipartisan support, and that would get government out of the way and prompt businesses to start hiring.
Let’s also pretend the Senate under Harry Reid is acting nobly rather than playing politics.
Libs you’re puttin lipstick on a pig!
I seem to recall hearing our president say something about the republicans can come along but they will sit in the back of the bus. Oh and who can forget “we wont know what’s in it until we pass it.”? The Left own it but our great, great grand kids will be paying for it.
“I seem to recall hearing our president say something about the republicans can come along but they will sit in the back of the bus.”
No, Toby. This scenario plays in your head, nowhere else … and you shouldn’t let the rest of us in on it.
Toby, that is exactly what he said.
Tuesday, October 26, 2010 “In yet another campaign stop and another race baiting moment, Barack Obama was lashing out at Republicans in anticipation of the GOP surge which will deliver the House and maybe the Senate on November 2. Obama the arrogant race baiter sees the job of Republicans when they take the majority to bow to him and as Democrats have walk in lock step with his Marxist agenda. So in his campaign stop he actually said Republicans, will have to, “sit in the back of the bus, ” when it comes to legislation Obama is pushing.”
Tue Oct 26, 2010 – Can anyone tell me how Mr. Obama is reaching out to the Republicans when he makes comments such as he did in Rhode Islands about “The republicans will have to sit in the back of the bus.” I find this a highly racist remark from a president who claimed and ran on uniting people.
Sorry Libs but you’re wrong again. Here is one of many links confirming he did say it.
“He said Republicans had driven the economy into a ditch and then stood by and criticized while Democrats pulled it out. Now that progress has been made, he said, “we can’t have special interests sitting shotgun. We gotta have middle class families up in front. We don’t mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back.”

Libby, you don’t know that you don’t know. You should demand a refund on however much you have spent on education.
But Toby (and Peggy too, I guess), out of the recesses of his own brain, added “of the bus”, a thoroughly loaded phrase with baldly racist implications.
I’m sorry, but it is just too, too telling, and he should watch it.
Libby, you’re right, except for one thing: Toby and Peggy didn’t make this up out of their own brains. They heard it repeated, ad nauseum, by the right wing lie machine. And thus, it magically became true due to sheer repetition.
Chris: “They heard it repeated, ad nauseum, by the right wing lie machine. And thus, it magically became true due to sheer repetition.”
There you go acting like a four year old again. Name calling won’t change the fact that there is a video of him making the statement. Don’t know if the media is right, left or in the middle and I don’t care. The facts don’t lie and video is wonderful.
Here is the Associated Press article from Mediaite with the video. But, I’m sure I’m wasting my time again in providing this for you since you’ve said before you don’t read information you don’t agree with.
The Associated Press reports:
“President Barack Obama attacked Republicans with gusto Monday as he plunged into a final week of midterm election campaigning, but his partys prognosis remained darkened by the feeble economy and his itinerary was designed largely to minimize losses.
He said Republicans had driven the economy into a ditch and then stood by and criticized while Democrats pulled it out. Now that progress has been made, he said, we cant have special interests sitting shotgun. We gotta have middle class families up in front. We dont mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back.
Getting in back is a phrase that very clearly hearkens back to Rosa Parks and the civil rights struggles of the 60s. Some may even see this as clear evidence that a Black president is telling a white GOP that its their turn to ride in back. Either way, Megyn Kellys eyebrows are raised. She claims that many others are as wellso its probably a safe bet that this isnt the last weve heard about this comment.

(Editor’s note: Always be nice to a lady Chris, even if you think they made a mistake or said something they shouldn’t. You’ll live longer and go farther)
Peggy,
Can you read?
Obama never said anything about a “bus.” You have the gall to say that I am acting like a four year old, when you are the one who apparently can’t understand that “sit in the back” and “sit in the back of the bus” are two different sentences.
This site has jumped the shark.
“The facts don’t lie”
No, but you do. You claimed:
“But, I’m sure I’m wasting my time again in providing this for you since you’ve said before you don’t read information you don’t agree with.”
I never said this. And in order to claim that I did, you’d have to ignore the fact that I read and comment on this blog quite frequently.
What I said was that I usually stop reading an article once it starts blaming anything and everything on ACORN. I do this because it’s an effective time management tool. It’s not a matter of disagreement. It’s a matter of being able to tell a valid argument from an invalid one, a skill that many of the commenters here sorely lack.
I am sure you have your own standards when it comes to what you will and won’t read. If you start reading an article only to come to a passage wherein the author starts denying the Holocaust, do you keep reading? I would hope not. You’d recognize that the author was not just wrong, but delusional, and that the rest of the piece wasn’t worth your time. You wouldn’t chalk it up to simple disagreement.
Also, I have to say that on this quote conservatives are deliberately choosing to ignore the more likely interpretation in favor of the one they think people will find more offensive.
A running theme in Obama’s comments about conservatives is that they are acting like irresponsible, petulant children. Children sit in the backs of cars. When I heard this quote, that’s immediately the connection I made.
As far as I know, Obama has never compared conservatives to Civil Rights activists, or blacks living in the Jim Crow South. Why would he?
So for Peggy, Jack, Toby, and plenty of other conservatives to claim that this is the comparison Obama intended, when it’s much more likely he was once again comparing conservatives to unruly children, is clearly absurd. And I have to wonder if you all are simply pretending to believe this in order to make Obama look worse. It seems like a deliberate misinterpretation done for the sake of strategy.
After all, conservatives would certainly find it rude and inaccurate for Obama to compare them to children. But the problem for you is, many Americans might agree with that characterization. “So how do we make Obama’s remarks seem so far beyond the pale that Americans of all political stripes have no choice but to reject them?” I can see Sean Hannity pondering over a glass of scotch one evening. “Oh, I know! Let’s pretend that he’s comparing us to Rosa Parks, and himself to a segregationist! That’ll work perfectly for our ‘The first black president is really the most racist racist of all’ narrative we’ve been working so hard on constructing.”
If you think I’m being cynical by thinking that your interpretation isn’t genuine, I think I’m actually being kind. Because the alternative is that you are actually dumb enough to think that Obama was comparing you guys to Rosa Parks. And if that’s the case, then you really do have the intellectual capacity of children who shouldn’t be put in charge of anything ever.
Yep, I sure enough made a mistake. I mistakenly added the word “bus” to Obama telling republicans they can come along but will ride in the back. My mistake does not change the fact, Obama and the democrats own the mess we are in because from the back seat you can’t control the car, bus, train, plane, ship, whatever Obama had in mind.
Whether he meant the back of the bus (entirely possible) or just the “back’ (What? Picking through the crumbs of the elite? Cleaning up after the real work is done? What does he mean?) the sentiment hardly reflects his oft repeated admonition that we must “work together” or his promise that he would unite Americans as President.
He also implies that republicans aren’t middle class which is ludicrous and a bald faced lie!
“…We gotta have middle class families up in front. We don’t mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back.”
The man is a poor excuse for a president. He holds the position but not with the dignity befitting the presidency. He has zero respect for his fellow Americans or their representatives. He is politicing in the typical tacky fashion of the community organizer…and yes, there is a very good chance that he is opportunistically throwing flowers to the activist redistributionists that pose as civil rights leaders.
Chris: Yes, I can read, can you? I never said anything about a bus. What I posted was copied from the AP link. The word, “Bus” was used by them, not me.
Chris my response was for your saying Toby and I had made this up, because we had heard it repeated so many times from the right wing lie machine. (“They heard it repeated, ad nauseum, by the right wing lie machine. And thus, it magically became true due to sheer repetition.”)I posted the written transcript and video to prove we didnt make it up, and it wasnt distributed falsely to discredit Obama. He said it. Period!
Different people are going to interpret what he said from their own beliefs and past experiences. Personally, I didnt take it as a Rosa Parks put-down, but rather that he was in charge and if Republicans wanted to join in they could, but could not be a part of solving the problems. Republicans were to be removed and silent, like good little boys and girls that are to be seen and not heard. He didnt want to hear from them at all about anything.
Again, he DID say it, he shouldnt have, and Toby and I did NOT make it up. But, like so many other similar statements that hes made hell get a pass from everyone of his worshiping followers. The rest of us that believe hell be known as one of our worst presidents, up there with Carter and Wilson, will see him as the Great Divider president pitting every group with opposing views against each other instead of respectfully bringing them together. Thats why we have a Do nothing Congress. Obama wants it that way so he can keep pointing his finger at the Republican controlled House and say its their fault instead of at the Democrat controlled Senate and Reid who refuses to bring bills that have passed the House to the Senate floor for discussion let alone a vote.
His latest attack on religion, hopefully, will be the last straw and people will wake up and see what his real agenda is before this November.
“Chris: Yes, I can read, can you? I never said anything about a bus.”
Guess we’re gonna need another recap: No, you didn’t directly say anything about a bus. But Toby and Jack did, and when Libby pointed out that they were wrong and the “bus” part was made up, you said that it was Libby who was wrong. You said that Obama made the statement–but you did not, until now, clarify that the “bus” part was not actually made by Obama. So from reading your comments one could only come away with the interpretation that you agreed with Toby and Jack that the “bus” part actually was said by Obama. Again, that’s the only reasonable interpretation of what you wrote. Thank you for clarifying that this is not actually what you meant to write.
I am glad that you did not interpret Obama’s comments in the irrational way that many other conservatives did. I understand that you still think it’s rude and divisive for Obama to compare you to children; maybe he shouldn’t have done that. But it was also wrong for conservatives to willfully misinterpret Obama’s words in order to play the race card, something they claim to hate but are actually willing to do just as often as liberals.
Amen, Peggy…A-Men!
Chris: “I am glad that you did not interpret Obama’s comments in the irrational way that many other conservatives did…”
Irrational is in the eyes of the beholder.
The intent of the statement is quite clear. Whether it was a veiled reference to “the back of the bus” from the civil rights struggle or simply a nasty way to dismiss Republicans as irrelevant the remark shows his utter lack of respect for our system and the Republican leadership/power in the House.
The President plays to the crowd with flowery unifying, bipartisan crap but he is a hard core devious pol. As I said, not the stuff of leadership…and at a time when that is the one thing our country needs desperately!
Chris: “…maybe he shouldn’t have done that.” Maybe?!! Are you kidding me? There is no maybe. As OUR president, yours, mine and every citizen of this country he should have said everyone was welcome to work together. That’s what a president who got elected by promising to be the great “Uniter” should have done!! I don’t care if your black, white, pink with yellow polka dots, gay, liberal or a conservative. A great leader would have held the door open and invited everyone aboard.
Heck, look how his words have even reached into this blog and how it has divided us. Here we are at odds with each other over some stupid thoughtless words when we could/should be working together instead of trying to be right and prove each other wrong. It’s like a cancer that has spread from the WH through Congress and into our own homes.
How sad….He’s our leader and he’s got us following his example.
Chalk up another one for OUR not so great rude leader. I’m sure this isn’t being covered by the MSM, so here is another slap in the face of not just republicans but our past president and his son.
Our president not only didn’t want to sit with us in the “vehicle,” he’s now walked out of the room after giving his speech instead of staying for the others scheduled to speak. How rude. Did he get an “F” in manners 101? (Oh that’s right he won’t release his transcripts so we’ll never know. Sorry, that’s another topic we can’t talk about.)

Obama Walks Out on Jeb Bush Speech; Michael Reagan Reacts, Says He Doesnt Think Obama Has Ever Respected the People Around Him:
There is a controversy now developing over a dinner that was attended by President Obama, George H. W. Bush and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush. President Obama and Jeb Bush were featured as speakers at the Alfalfa Dinner, which was attended by a number of Washington elite.
Jeb Bushs speech was expected to follow the presidents, but before it even started, President Obama had already walked out. Now, Al Hunt wrote a Bloomberg News article labeling this action an example of the Obama administrations cockiness.
Earlier, Michael Reagan shared his reaction to this article on America Live, saying, [Al Hunt] is taken back by the arrogance of this president. Reagan went on to say that there would have been a severe backlash in the media if George W. Bush had walked out on Hillary Clintons speech with Bill Clinton sitting in the audience.
It just shows the ongoing arrogance of this president. I dont think hes ever stopped campaigning. I think, you know, hes somebody whos way above his pay grade maybe, and hes taking it in pretty heavy being in the White House and that concerns me. And now its starting to concern, of course Al Hunt and the Left and the Democrats, and, well, it should.
He advised that the president should be more cognizant of respecting the people around him, saying, Dont dishonor the other people in the room. Dont dishonor an 87-year-old former president, who served his country well by walking out on his son who is going to speak.
Peggy we could make a list of the many ways this president has insulted or dishonored citizens, heads of state, and entire countries/allies. He’s just not presidential. He is a good community organizer, I’ll give him nthat!
His list is mind-boggling. At the top of the list is leaving the PM from Israel alone in the WH while he had dinner with the family had to be an intentional insult too. As the Leader of the Free World, the fall-out from this one thoughtless action may haunt us for years.
From Fox News:
For a head of government to visit the White House and not pose for photographers is rare. For a key ally to be left to his own devices while the President withdraws to have dinner in private was, until this week, unheard of. Yet that is how Benjamin Netanyahu was treated by President Obama on Tuesday night, according to Israeli reports on a trip viewed in Jerusalem as a humiliation.
After failing to extract a written promise of concessions on settlements, Obama walked out of his meeting with Netanyahu but invited him to stay at the White House, consult with advisers and let me know if there is anything new, a U.S. congressman, who spoke to the Prime Minister, said.
It was awful, the congressman said. One Israeli newspaper called the meeting a hazing in stages, poisoned by such mistrust that the Israeli delegation eventually left rather than risk being eavesdropped on a White House telephone line. Another said that the Prime Minister had received the treatment reserved for the President of Equatorial Guinea.

Then there was his saying the police, acted stupidly which caused all sorts of racial discord shortly after we were all celebrating the election of our first black president.
From Huff Post:
There was no acrimony nor apology from any of the three: black Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., white Cambridge, Mass., police Sgt. James Crowley, who had arrested him for disorderly conduct, and Obama, who declared on national TV that the police had “acted stupidly.” But neither Gates nor Crowley backtracked either, agreeing they still had differences.

I gave up a long time friendship with a democrat girlfriend who one night after dinner at her house repeatedly said, All Republicans are stupid. After getting over the shock of what she was saying and realizing that she thought she could insult me like that, and that Id just take it I got my purse, walked to the door and said, No were not. Democrats who think they can get away with treating people like this are.
We spoke one time after and have not spoken again since. A friendship is a bond of mutual respect. The same applies to every type of relationship. She made it clear she didnt respect me because I believed in a different political mindset.
Call it civility, good manners, respect, whatever. We should all practice it with those we agree and disagree with.
Holy cow, what a story, thanks Peggy…Obama has no manners and no diplomatic skill.. a bad combo for us.
Lets not forget the presidential garbage can inspection given to the Dalai Lama.
“Personally, I didnt take it as a Rosa Parks put-down, ….”
Because … Obama didn’t say it. That’s why you didn’t take it that way, because he did not say it.
Toby sucked it up from whatever toxic sources of “information” he trawls, and repeated it, and I objected.
Are we clear about this now?
And as for Netanyahu, he’s getting ready to bomb Iran … I mean, people are saying, like, next week. This is probably going to make a terrible mess, only reenforce any aggressive intentions the Iranian government may have, and also, probably, in the long run, seal Israel’s doom.
Obama can be just as “rude” as he likes, in the circumstances.
Alfalfa Dinner? I had to Google and, my God, you people need to get out more. Don’t just accept this swill without looking into it some. Re the Alfalfa Club:
“The club was founded in 1913 and its function was to celebrate the birthday of Confederate Civil War General Robert E. Lee; it didn’t admit blacks until 1974, and women until 1994.[2] In 2009, President Barack Obama spoke at the club’s annual dinner, saying ‘this dinner began almost one hundred years ago as a way to celebrate the birthday of General Robert E. Lee. If he were here with us tonight, the General would be 202 years old. And very confused.'”
And he showed up again this year, which was very gracious of him, in the circumstances.
I can’t stop laughing.
Yet more:
“The Alfalfa Club is a Washington, D.C. social organization that exists only to hold an annual banquet on the last Saturday of January. The club’s membership, which numbers about 200, is composed primarily of American politicians and influential members of the United States business community, and has included several Presidents of the United States. The group’s name is a reference to the plant’s supposed willingness to do anything for a drink.”
Oh, absolutely, so significant a social function, it was shameful of him to leave early. I may chortle myself right into next Tuesday.
Libby: “Because … Obama didn’t say it. That’s why you didn’t take it that way, because he did not say it.”
Gee…all we had to do is gather with a few like-minded friends, call it a Tea Party, and suddenly we were all a bunch of racists! Turns out we didn’t “say it” either but that didn’t stop the media and the left blogosphere from repeating it and repeating it and repeating it…or later associating it with the shooting of Rep Giffords…or prevent Nancy Pelosi and the Black Caucus from parading through the crowd at one DC event in an attempt to create the impression that it was true. (He lies and she’ll swear to it!)
“Obama can be just as “rude” as he likes, in the circumstances.”
Obama was “rude” long before any of this happened. He was “rude” from the moment he took office. He was rude to Netanyahu within the first six months! Sending the bust of Churchill back to England, instead of storing it with other gifts as any well bred, polite, protocol savy person elected to the highest office in the land would do was EXTREMELY RUDE…and indeed quite stupid.
The man represents America…NOT HIMSELF!
The Middle East is a mess precisely because of his ineptitude..including…perhaps especially the situation with Iran.
“Lets not forget the presidential garbage can inspection given to the Dalai Lama.” – Toby
Right on! Or the totally narcissistic gift he gave the Queen of England!
Tina: “Sending the bust of Churchill back to England, instead of storing it with other gifts”
It was not a gift. It was a loan.
You know this already, because I’ve pointed it out to you several times.
But thanks for providing yet another example of the right wing lie machine in action.
Chris: “It was not a gift. It was a loan.”
Does this make the snub any less stinky? I think not!
“You know this already, because I’ve pointed it out to you several times.”
I don’t recall you pointing this out to me but I will take your word for it rather than slogging back through every comment long comment you have made here.
“But thanks for providing yet another example of the right wing lie machine in action.”
And thank you for once again demonstrating your usual haughty, intolerant self.
You know sometimes, Chris, there is zero intention to mislead. I have not been Alinsky trained and I do not intentionally lie or try to mislead anyone.
“Does this make the snub any less stinky? I think not!”
It makes it not a snub at all. The loan was made specifically to George W. Bush and was set to expire in 2009. When it expired, Obama had the option of extending the loan, but chose not to.
That’s not a “snub.” That’s routine. That conservatives took such a trivial non-issue and attempted to elevate it into some kind of foreign policy disaster is evidence of Obama Derangement Syndrome.
“You know sometimes, Chris, there is zero intention to mislead.”
Perhaps you do not intend to mislead, but you do make a conscious choice not to seek out the most accurate and credible information on certain subjects. The Churchill non-troversy has been widely debunked. You could have easily determined that it wasn’t true through a simple Google search. And it’s not just this one issue; this is a pattern with you. You frequently post misinformation on this site. And with the Internet being what it is, ignorance is no excuse. You should verify these things before you say them.
I am only “intolerant” of lies and unsubstantiated rumors floating around and taking on lives of their own due to repetition. I think it is good to be intolerant of such things. Don’t you?
Libby: “”Personally, I didnt take it as a Rosa Parks put-down, ….”
Because … Obama didn’t say it. That’s why you didn’t take it that way, because he did not say it.

If you had taken the time to actually read the link I provided you would have seen that I was referring to what others thought about how Obama’s comment was taken. I was simply stating that I did NOT agree with them. One more time. Being in the back of the BUS was used by the writer of the article ,not me.
GET IT! Are YOU clear with it now?!
Libby: And as for Netanyahu, he’s getting ready to bomb Iran … I mean, people are saying, like, next week. This is probably going to make a terrible mess, only reenforce any aggressive intentions the Iranian government may have, and also, probably, in the long run, seal Israel’s doom.
Obama can be just as “rude” as he likes, in the circumstances.
Back in the 1960s President Kennedy stopped the Russian ships carrying missiles from reaching missile basses already built in Cuba less than 100 miles from our coast. It was called the Bay of Pigs and Kennedy has been credited for doing his job of protecting the US from eminent attack.
It is well documented that Iran has said they will destroy Israel and kill every Jew and you find fault with the PM of Israel trying to protect his country and people. Where is the logic that one country has the right to protect itself but another doesnt? Iran will not acknowledge Israel even has the right to exist. Why? Simple answer is because they are Jews and Iran doesnt believe they have the right to exist.
Obama is not only rude he is now perceived around the world as weak, just like Carter. Iran held 52 Americans hostage for 444 days and released them while Reagan was being sworn in on Jan. 20, 1981. Egypt is now holding 19 Americans hostage, with plans to put them on trial. No country dared to take an American hostage under Kennedy or Reagan, but in the last three years or so several countries have dared to not only take hostages, but have raped and killed reporters.
Carter is ranked at or close to the top of the worst presidents list, and if Obama continues to follow Carters political agenda hell be right up there with him.
And no Obama can not be as rude as he wants as long as hes the President of the US. He should act accordingly to the high position he holds. If he was a bouncer at a bar Id agree, but not while hes temporarily living in the White House that belongs to the people of the US and not him.
Libby: “Alfalfa Dinner? I had to Google and, my God, you people need to get out more. Don’t just accept this swill without looking into it some. Re the Alfalfa Club:”
Hey Libby guess what? I Googled it too and below is what you failed to include.
Every president for at least the last 50 plus years has participlated to hear and give, “funny politic speeches” except president Carter and Clinton. They are the only presidents to “boycott” the event. I wonder why? It doesn’t say.
But, I am seeing a pattern here. There were protesters from Occupy DC outside the event. Since Obama has supported these groups, did he leave after giving his speech so he could say/show his support for them? In addition to being rude was he also in campaign mode doing a CYA? Oh he was there, but he really didn’t want to be there and by leaving early he can say I’m really not with THAT DC group, I’m with you protesters.
Got to go this is making me really upset.
And once again Libby, as long as he is the President of the US he needs to act accordingly. Being rude toward any one especially the head of another nation and a former US president is not acceptable.

“Alfalfa Club
The Alfalfa Club is a Washington, D.C. social organization that exists only to hold an annual banquet on the last Saturday of January.[2] The club’s membership, which numbers about 200, is composed primarily of American politicians and influential members of the United States business community, and has included several Presidents of the United States. The group’s name is a reference to the plant’s supposed willingness to do anything for a drink.[2]
The president is usually asked to deliver remarks at the dinner. President George W. Bush spoke at the Alfalfa Dinner each year of his presidency;[3] the Alfalfa Club was one of only three clubs that his father, George H. W. Bush, was a member of as president.[4]
Annual presidential nomination
One of the evening’s activities includes the playful nomination of a presidential candidate by the Club’s leadership. The candidate is then required to make a speech. Several such candidates went on to hold the actual presidency after being nominated, including Richard Nixon in 1965 (elected in 1968), Ronald Reagan in 1974 (elected in 1980), and George W. Bush in 1998 (elected in 2000).[1] In 1969, they nominated Harold Stassen.[5] In 2004, the Club nominated the former president of the Motion Picture Association of America, Jack Valenti. Its 2000 nomination was Australian-born James Wolfensohn, constitutionally ineligible for election to the U.S. presidency.[1] In 2001, the presidential nomination went to John McCain.
History
The club was founded in 1913 and its function was to celebrate the birthday of Confederate Civil War General Robert E. Lee; it didn’t admit blacks until 1974, and women until 1994.[2] In 2009, President Barack Obama spoke at the club’s annual dinner, saying “this dinner began almost one hundred years ago as a way to celebrate the birthday of General Robert E. Lee. If he were here with us tonight, the General would be 202 years old. And very confused.”[6]
In addition to its January dinner in Washington, the club used to have an annual summer picnic.[7]
In 1986, William H. Rehnquist’s membership in the club became the subject of discussion in a Senate Judiciary hearing after Rehnquist was nominated to be Chief Justice. He described the club as one that “met once a year to listen to patriotic music and ‘hear some funny political speeches'” and said “he did not think his membership in such a once-a-year group violated the canons of judicial ethics.”[8]
In 1994, the club admitted its first women membersSandra Day O’Connor, Elizabeth Dole, and Katharine Graham (whose father had also been a member[9])in response to a 1993 boycott by President Bill Clinton.[10] Clinton’s boycott had been the first by a U.S. president since Jimmy Carter.[10]
During the 2012 dinner, protesters from Occupy D.C. gathered outside the building to protest the literal meeting of government and business behind closed doors.[11][12]”
Tone deafness is very interesting.
Peggy, do you really have to wonder why Carter and Clinton refused to accommodate these elitist white-boy shenanighans, felt secure enough to do so … where Obama doesn’t?
“During the 2012 dinner, protesters from Occupy D.C. gathered outside the building to protest the literal meeting of government and business behind closed doors.”
Well, of course they did.
Come on, Peggy, this is all just as it should be.
Discussing business and government behind closed doors is one thing; people do it every day in private gatherings.
Writing a piece of legislation behind closed doors that we had to pass before we could find out what was in it, that all representatives did not have the opportunity to discuss or debate, that represents a sixth of the economy, and that was passed by coercion and bribery is another thing entirely.
Libby the meeting in Pelosi’s office was not only elitist feminist shenanigans but also in defiance of the constitution. Your lecturing is stale, outdated, and so far off the mark it’s pathetic.
