Mrs. Neely was just posting some family pictures on her Google webpage, including one of her husband sitting in a hot tub in their $2000 a night luxury suite in Vegas. He’s all tan, hairy chested, wearing a heavy gold chain. His hair looks cut by a stylist not a barber. He’s all done up living in style like we might expect of Wayne Newton. But, he’s not a Vegas high roller – he’s a regional boss for the GSA and now he’s at the center of a scandal because he blew through $823,000 of your tax dollars for an employees party in sin city. (See photo above) Meet Jeff Neely, GSA executive.
Jeff is spending his time these days in Washington testifying before a Congressional Committee about his wasteful spending of your taxpayers dollars. Make that not testifying, because he’s repeatedly invoking the 5th, and well he should. This is a crime that is unfortunately not uncommon in our government where people are trusted with the taxpayers money and in theory, tasked to spend it wisely.
The GAO uncovered this scandal, not Congress and not any of the President’s people and if they hadn’t it probably would have slipped by unnoticed by everyone except the happy Vegas party-goers aka GSA employees.
Here he is running from the press yesterday:

There is a great organization out there called the Project on Government Oversight. If you can stomach government waste, these guys are the place to go to find out how they piss away all of our tax money.
The head of the GSA, Martha Johnson resigned over this, which I guess probably should have happened, but I really want the people who organized this conference to be fired. Not resign in disgrace, fired. Before she quit Johnson fired two other political appointees, but there are many more names that have to go. I want to know how many other events like this happened that we don’t know about. I bet tons of them.
The POGO website has tons of investigations about government contractors that owe back taxes and aren’t paying and they broke the story about the Air Force comfort pods that had leather chairs reupholstered for $21,000.
Thanks Mark…good find!
Princess, I appreciate that information and I’ll definitely take a look! -Jack
