In the two largest and most scientific polls, Gallup and Rassmussen, Romney is set to win the presidency. A majority of smaller polls show a similar result.
It would appear that at this late date only sabotage to our electoral system could save President Obama from defeat. Romney is also expected to win the popular vote.
I talked to my brother last night who lives in Reno, NV and he said they are experiencing problems with the machines again. Projections are they may be off by as much as 10% which could swing the count enough to determine the outcome. Similar machines are used in other states including swing states.
Here is a story of a woman who was arrested for attempting to vote when it was determined that she had already voted. With no ID requirement to vote in Nevada, my question is who voted the first time and how can they prove it was or wasnt her?

Hmmmm?

Gallup actually has them statistically dead even.
I think that you are, quite transparently, setting yourselves up to refuse to accept the results … if it don’t go your way. That’s positively Congolese.
Well, well, Libbya stops by to insult the blog owners with some snide psycho-babble. One thing you cannot deny the progressive liberal Democrat, their acumen and expertise in all things psychological … zzz …
For myself NO MORE POLLS! I had my my fill of these ephemeral, nebulous, and questionable prognostications a month ago. They are like opium. You know better than to smoke the dope, but they still suck you in.
I have never answered a poll in my life and never will. They are evil! 😉
The only poll that counts for me is the one that involves the voting booth.
The Million Muppet March fizzled to a few hundred. I would say that is about as good an indicator as any poll.

Any predictions on the local races?
Will be stuck with another 4 years of Schwab and “sustainability” or will the Schwabistas lose control of the City Council?
If not, I think the next couple of years will be very unpleasant.
I remember reading thousands in the military overseas during the 2010 election didnt get their ballots and were therefore denied voting in the election. I also remember the DoD was ordered to clean up the problem and given sufficient funds to resolve the problem. Yet, here is another election about to happen and once again thousands of soldiers overseas will not be voting because they will not have received their ballots.
Thousands of ballots unlikely to reach military voters in time
Mail redirection in the military can take between 14 to 50 days, meaning a ballot could reach the voter possibly more than a month after ballots have to be mailed back in order to be counted. The Military Postal Service Agency (MPSA) identified problems with the system after the 2010 election, but hasnt implemented changes.
DoDs failure to fix this longstanding problem means that the blank ballots of thousands of overseas service members, as well as some who have recently returned from overseas, could be currently trapped in an archaic and inefficient mail forwarding system, the senators wrote. These ballots are unlikely to reach these service members until after Election Day has passed.”
The senators advised Panetta to create a centralized mail redirection system and modernize military mail delivery.
We are perplexed as to why DoD did not do everything in its power to modernize the system for redirecting blank ballots in order to eliminate this roadblock for military service members, per the top 2010 recommendations from MPSA, the letter stated. As we know you agree, they deserve to have a voice in choosing their elected leaders. Our men and women in uniform should be able to participate in the very same democratic system of government that they defend, not be relegated to mere spectator status because their ballot never reached them.

The money was there. So why wasn’t it used to set up all of the assistance centers? Rhetorical question, since Panetta was in charge.
DoD: Half Of US Military Bases Lack Required Voter Assistance Offices
A new report by the Department of Defense inspector general reveals that approximately half of U.S. military bases lack legally required facilities designed to assist service members through the voting process.
According to the 2009 Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act, all military installations throughout the world, with the exception of those located in warzones, must operate a voter assistance office to provide troops with access to voter registration and absentee ballot materials. While the law said the installation voting assistance offices (IVAOs) would open in 2010, an investigation by the DoD found that only 114 of the 229 IVAOs listed by the Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) were operational.
To assess effectiveness of DoD efforts to establish IVAOs, we attempted to contact 100 percent of the installations identified by the FVAP website, reads the report, which was published in late August. Results were clear. Our attempts to contact IVAOs failed about 50 percent of the time.
While FVAP director Pam Mitchell blamed the communication gap on outdated contact information during a press conference Tuesday, the report cites a lack of funding as the primary reason why many of the facilities have yet to be established, emphasizing that the MOVE Act did not provide additional appropriations to cover the estimated $20 million it would take to launch and sustain the IVAO initiative. However, Eric Eversole, founder and executive director of the Military Voter Protection Project, rejects this explanation.
The claim is laughable, said Eversole. In fiscal years 2011 and 2012, FVAP received a combined $75 million in federal appropriations. To put this into perspective, they received $17.4 million for fiscal year 2010.

This pretty exciting, no matter which side you are on and your comments here are going to be part of the internet for as long as we have one. This is history and people will look back in 50-60 years wanting to know your thoughts…this is pretty cool.
Libby, you must use the latest polling…from CP; “Hours before Election Day, the latest and final presidential poll by Gallup was released, showing GOP candidate Mitt Romney holding a one point lead over President Barack Obama.”

“… showing GOP candidate Mitt Romney holding a one point lead over President Barack Obama.”
Which makes them, statistically, dead even … gotta always remember that “margin of error” thing, which I think is generally three percent.
I wonder how many dead people are still on the rolls in Texas and Idaho? I wonder if anyone is actually voting in their place? I kind of doubt it. It all evens out, Jack … chill.
Rush is asking intriguing questions:
How many people who voted for Obama last time will not vote for him this time?
How many republicans you know who didn’t vote for McCain last time will vote against Romney this time?
How many democrats who voted for Obama last time will vote for independent contenders or stay home?
And in terms of Obama defeat have you seen the photo’s of the last Obama rally as opposed to the last Obama rally? Doesn’t bode well for the president even with celebrities Obama couldn’t fill the stadium…enthusiasm for Obama is a lot different this time.
