Political commentator, author and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza puts forth the notion that America’s history is being replaced by another version in which plunder and exploitation are the defining characteristics. D’Souza also posits that the way the country understands the past will determine the future. (How true!)
Using historic re-enactments, D’Souza explores the lives and sacrifices of some of America’s greatest heroes, including George Washington and Frederick Douglass.
I’m really looking forward to this movie. The trailer is quite compelling; I’ll be one of those who let you know what I think very soon.
I talked to the manager at the Chico Cinemark last Friday and asked when he would be showing the movie. He responded, after checking in his office, the movie is being widely distributed and not on a limited release like D’Souza’s previous movie. It should be here in Chico on Wed. or Friday. The ER doesn’t have the show times listed yet.
According to a friend in Paradise the movie will open up there on Wed.
I’m looking forward to seeing it too. Big movie maker names listed for producing it should really add to it being even better.
“America” movie trailer.

Plunder and exploitation have always been elements of the American experiment and experience. Coincidentally they are also elements of the human experiment and experience.
But it is not what defines us as the false narrative Communists, Socialists, assorted anti-business anarchists, occupiers, misanthropes, enviromentalists … AND the American left who would have us believe about ourselves and teach (er, propagandize).
Besides, with regard to natural resources, “plunder” and “exploitation” are not necessarily the pejoratives these groups would have us believe they are. How many times have I been to fat-cat lawyer, good ol’ boys meetings of the Sierra Club back in the 70’s where large parking lots were packed with expensive German steel machines that had been individually driven to the events? They are probably packed with large, individually occuppied gas guzzling SUVs now (“Hey, I need this to help save the planet!”) and the thought of ride sharing is still a joke.
In any case, without the plunder and exploitation of steel, lime, cement, aggregates, oil, gas, chemical and mineral resources, plant fiber, land for food production … where would the Downtown Monstrosity be? Where would the hospitals be? Where would the schools be? Where would school lunch programs be? Where would City Hall be?
Answer: Nowhere. We would be living in mud huts.
Peggy the local Cinemark webpage says its showing now and again at 9:30 tonight
Dewey, Pie didn’t say everybody lies except conservative. Think before you write. It will improve your credibility, because right now your credibility is nil.
Funny my reply was deleted?
again That is not what I said, and Pie calls me names…hum
