Angels Observed in Space by Russians

Cosmonauts actually claim they saw seven glowing human-like beings near their space station. They reported the beings were huge, possibly 90 feet long. Okay, usually we’re the first to come across really odd stories, but this somehow slipped by us and it’s been kicking around on the internet for several years. I only heard about it today and started doing some checking because the story sounds so crazy.

cosmonauts

On the 155th day of the station’s earth orbit the crew of three was busy with planned experiments. They were just about to start some medical experiments when a bright orange light enveloped the space station. The cosmonauts immediately informed the Soviet Mission Control Center. The crew had a brief impression that the orange light or cloud had somehow entered their station. The trio reported they felt bathed in this mysterious bright orange light and they were temporarily blinded. In seconds their vision returned and the cosmonauts peered out of their portholes to see where this light was coming from and that’s when they saw seven gigantic humanoid shapes within this glow. The shapes were nearly 90 feet in length and none of them doubted what they saw. They were staring into the faces of seven heavenly angels adorned with the classic wings and halos. The crew said the angels looked at them and smiled, seeming like they were pleased to be watched. The minutes ticked by and then they vanished along with the cloud of bright orange light.

The official version was quite a bit different. It went public on 12 July 1984. Cosmonauts Leonid Kizim, Vladimir Solovyov and Oleg Atkov (shown in the picture above) were on their 155th day aboard the Salyut 7 when the trio started to group hallucinate. They were all seeing the same hallucination and that was described as a “brilliant orange cloud” surrounding the station. The hallucination was reported to Ground Control and the crew was subject to psychological and medical examinations upon their return. The angels were left out of the public report.

The Russian newspaper Pravda confirmed that the cosmonauts officially reported the group hallucination, which was attributed to pressure, temperature fluctuations and shortage of oxygen to the brain.

The story might have ended there, except for on more small detail. A second crew of three docked with the space station 11 days later and the second crew also had exactly the same “hallucination.” All 6 are shown above.

“By their own admission, the cosmonauts were themselves reluctant to accept the existence of the oddly angelic beings which they had seen, and concluded that they were more likely suffering from some form of mass delusion brought on by their extended space travel than an actual encounter with alien — or perhaps even divine — entities. Their self induced denial would be put to the test 11-days later when additional cosmonauts arrived at the station and the celestial beings returned.” Click here for more on this story.

That was uncle Oscar Guevara and some of his close friends.

Why would Russians be seeing visions of angels I thought most them dont believe? Also I have not heard of any cases of mass hallucinations that are all the same. How could that happen?

  3. Tina says:

We’re all supposed to have one. Never seen one myself but wouldn’t that be a trip?

Aaron you pose an interesting question. It’s hard to say whether or not the Russian astronauts are believers. Before the communists came along the Russian Orthodox Church was alive and well. they built beautiful churches. So I have to think that at least some parents quietly passed their faith along to their kids.

I guess it’s possible that this was god’s way of elbowing doubters :-). this would be important if the other theory, of apocalypse, would make the siting meaningful.

Not only are we talking about equal mass hallucination, we’re talking about happening twice in the same way. It does seem a bit far fetched as an explanation.
