End of Watch – Movie Clip

In case you missed the movie, this is how it opens (see link below). This has to be one of the all time best and most realistic chase scenes ever.

I can speak with some authority on this subject…yes, police chases sometimes go just like this, but I’ve never been in a hail of bullets like you see in the video, nor will most cops. And thank God that part is extremely rare! However, I have been shot at once and it resulted in the bad guys crashing their car And there was a second time when I may have been shot at from a great distance, but that was never proven conclusive, I just heard the ‘angry bee” go past my head.

A few decades back it was not uncommon for a cop to go his whole career and never fire his weapon in defense of life, some never drew their weapon. Now, it’s more a question of when, not if. The criminal element in our society may be shrinking according to the latest stats, but the part that isn’t shrinking is really hardcore. That’s a big problem for law enforcement and the prisons. Young people thinking about going into law enforcement have my most sincere appreciation and my sympathies.

I saw this movie when it played in Chico. Old brain doesn’t recall if I posted or commented referencing it.

End of Watch was a very good movie that I thought was not only realistic but also very human. I recall wondering at the time what you would think.

We need movies that inspire young people to be on the side of right and justice with clear lines about the bad guys being an undesirable element. I think this movie does that while staying firmly in a genre that attracts young males.

(Glorifying the bad guy is fine for adult audiences…but when we raise people to be infantile the adult requirement doesn’t work anymore.)

Just watched this and had to share. It’s the best commencement speech ever given that every graduate and future grad should see.

Admiral William McRaven’s May 2014 Commencement speech at the University of Texas at Austin.

Wow, Jack that’s one scary chase.

I too thank those who are out there to protect us.

I hated this movie, and I walked out after 10 minutes. There was too much gratuitous profanity. With emphasis on “gratuitous.” I was a police officer for 25 years, and a combat infantryman for 2 years in a war zone, so I am no stranger to profanity. But this was just gratuitous. It served no artistic purpose, just the lowest form of humor for the lowest I.Q.

    • Post Scripts says:

Unfortunately, that is Hollywood. The gratuitous profanity is in almost all the movies these days except for Disney. It’s part of the formula for cranking out scripts.
Hollywood thinks we like it and that we are all classless idiots.

I’ll bet the Democrat in Florida and Maxine Waters are both card carrying communist.

Waters – Socializing oil companies: Back in 2008, Waters was lecturing oil company executives at a congressional hearing when she plainly stated her true intentions: “Guess what this liberal would be all about? This liberal would be about socializing … uh, umm. … Would be about, basically, taking over, and the government running all of your companies.”

At #4 Soaps we almost walked out too. The heavy rap music at the beginning in addition to the profanity had me thinking we had not chosen well. But the focus and tone shifted, probably about the time you left, and I settled in as the story began to unfold. If the producers were attempting to introduce the audience to the atmosphere of these bad neighborhoods I have to say they succeeded, however, I imagine they lost some revenue having taken the risk.
