This article from Investors Business Daily makes the case for government staying out of our businesses. They just cant seem to grasp simple conceptslike those of unintended consequencestake a look:
When Democrats in Congress finagled a jump in the minimum wage last year, they crowed about their victory. Now Americans are finding out what it cost as the unemployment rate shoots up.
Wall Street was stunned when the U.S. jobless rate jumped to 5.5% in May from 5% in April. Had things gotten so desperate so suddenly? Or was something else at work? ** As it turns out, it seems the problem was that hundreds of thousands of youths poured onto the job market at the same time, thanks to the end of the school year. But many, if not most, won’t find jobs. They’ve been priced out of the market. ** Economist David Neumark of the University of California, Irvine, has found a 10% minimum wage hike cuts employment of young, unskilled workers by 8.5%. As Kristen Lopez Eastlick of the L.A. Examiner noted, “In the past 11 months alone, the U.S.’ minimum wage has increased by more than twice that amount.” (all emphasis mine)
Yep, the control freaks in congress have done it to our young peopleand just when working families could use the extra cash. Heres Websters on authoritarian

The leaders of the Democrat Party have moved into the camp of opposed to democratic and no longer see themselves as constitutionally responsible, per their authoritarian activity in the Congress. If the Constitution is in the way they change the meaning of it by judicial means. And all the while they insist its for our good that they do this. Makes my skin crawl.
