Feuding and Fighting Left and Right

In society when two groups are creating division it can be frustrating for the casual observer. What is all the arguing about? It seems so unnecessary and unreasonable. Surely people can learn to listen to one another and find areas of agreement. Surely living together in peace is a more pleasing and worthy goal than is contentious verbal assault and disagreement. What must one do to get them to stop! How do we end the division?

Maybe the casual observer can move the argument to conclusion faster by unraveling the mystery behind what appears to be unnecessary rage and unreasonableness. Maybe gaining a better understanding about what is at stake would make a difference and allow him to move toward personal resolution. I cant guarantee that will happen by reading this post but I can provide the opportunity for it to happen.

My latest offering is an article titled Forgotten Foot Soldiers in War on Success, by Brady OLeary Investers.com.

While doing research for a book, The Audacity of Deceit: Barack Obama’s War on American Values Mr. O’Leary discovered a new voting block, the 30% of American voters who do not pay federal income taxes. His article reveals one aspect of the great political argument occurring in America today, providing much needed food for thought. Lets begin this venture with a look at a few of Mr. OLearys research findings:

* 60% of likely voters among non-taxpaying Americans favor Obama for president, whereas only 31% favor John McCain. *** A majority of the 30% of Americans who don’t pay federal income taxes agree with Obama’s $65 billion plan to institute taxpayer-funded, universal health coverage. *** A majority of non-taxpayers (57%) also favor raising the individual income-tax rate for those in the highest bracket to 54% from 35%. *** A majority of non-taxpayers (59%) also favor raising Social Security taxes by 4% for any individual or business that makes at least $250,000. *** They also want to expand their ranks from 30% of all Americans to 40%. * (emphasis mine)

Now lets look at a page from Obamas past for a clue as to what he might choose to do with the money he will have at his disposal from increasing taxes on “the rich” citizens of the country. From the same article:

* When Obama worked with unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers for the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, the foundation doled out $160 million to effect education “reform” in the Chicago school system. Yet students at Annenberg schools showed no marked improvement over non-Annenberg students. *** This is because Obama, Ayers and the Annenberg Challenge focused their resources on projects designed to promote an awareness of social injustice among students, as well as a general disrespect for authority as opposed to projects that focused on core subjects like math and science. *** Projects like the Chicago Algebra Project and the District 5 Math and Science Initiative were rejected by the Annenberg Challenge. Meanwhile, the Challenge shelled out $200,000 to the South Shore African Village Collaborative to help them celebrate “Juneteenth.” * (emphasis mine)

How was the rest of that money spent? Does a celebration in a poor neighborhood in Chicago usually cost $200,000.00? Did that money actually get to the organization and if so what value or achievement can we point to for the money given by taxpayers? I know…I know. The right always talks about money, its all they care about, you say. But it isnt just the money, although the stick it to the rich aspect does grate. Its what is done with the money and the effect it has on our society and our economy as a whole that is unbearable. The argument occurs because it hits the wallet hard, yes, but it goes beyond that. The argument occurs because for those of us on the right it is morally and ethically wrong that the poor children in Chicago arent receiving a better education from our taxpayer dimes. It is morally and ethically wrong that children from poor neighborhoods havent been lifted out of poverty after forty or so years of social spending. It is morally and possibly legally wrong if that money is being diverted to places it was not intended. It is sad and disgusting that things like this should be going on in our country.

This article provides a snapshot into the world of socialism that is living and breathing and competing for power within the boundaries of our republic. It is a picture of a group of elite political brokers who wove together a constituency of disgruntled, easily manipulated citizens; citizens in despair and in need. They appealed to their desires to better their own lives by encouraging dark emotions like distrust of others, hate, and envy and by encouraging them to believe they deserved to take what they hadnt earned and what didnt rightfully belong to them. They provided the group with a moral covering, an excuse…the notion that taking money from the government is somehow different from personally sneaking into the houses of those luckier people and to take it themselves.

This article also provides a story about socialism. It is the story of a failed system taking root in America; a system that keeps poor people down, holds them in poverty, and makes them even more dependent and helpless or apathetic. It is a system that has little to show for its wasteful use of resources and it is a sad story of the destruction of human potential. Socialism, and social activism, is a stain on the righteous American soul.

Push has come to shove after forty years or more of accelerating socialism and social organizing in America. The debates between left and right that seem so fierce will go on, and must go on, until there is a clear winner. The stakes are high. The right wishes to preserve the nation and restore it to its original ideals of equality and freedom. If we can do that our economy, an economy that has always been the envy of the world, will right itself and offer abundance, inspiration and opportunity for everyone. If we can do that, we will once again be an example to the world and we will surely find ourselves living without all the constant bickering and fighting in a more united, United States of America. Care to join us in that cause?

Vote wisely in November…vote McCain * Palin.
