(Ellison shown left) When a question was raised on the floor of Congress about possible infiltration of Congress by radical Muslim staffers to spy on restricted activities, it sounded somewhat plausible given the times. Congressmen felt it was prudent to at least look at the possibility this might be true. The supporters called it vigilance for the sake of national security, however one Democrat Congressman disagreed. For some reason he didn’t want to even explore the possibility that Islamic radicals may be trying to infiltrate Congress. In fact he was repulsed by very notion of such an investigation and called it racist and worse, another form of McCarthyism.
We wondered why a Congressman would be angered and fear looking into a possible security breach. The first thing we looked at was the Congressman and his background. His name is Keith Ellison and he converted to Islam several ago and he won election to become the first Muslim Congressman.
While serving in the Minnesota State Assembly from 2003 to 2007 he served on the Public Safety, Policy and Finance Committee, and the Election and Civil Law Committee. Ellison led efforts to stop farmers from using pesticides and chemicals; he promoted legislation to restore the voting rights of dangerous ex-felons; and he successfully advocated for an increase in the state’s minimum wage that forced the closure of many businesses.
Now Ellison shows his true loyalties by opposing any attempt to determine if anti-American elements are attempting to infiltrate Congress. Ironically, Ellison’s name appeared in documents belonging to radical Council on American Islamic Relations aka CAIR and listed him as a supporter. Those documents were part of over 5000 documents CAIR was sending to shredder when they came under investigation for supporting Islamic terrorist organizations.
On July 23rd, 2009 the City Tribune reported this, “Rep. Keith Ellison’s private pilgrimage to Mecca last year caused quite a media flurry when he returned home, but the trip appears to be causing even more problems months later.
After some questioning about how his trip was funded immediately after his return, the Star Tribune reported yesterday that his trip was paid for by a Minnesota Islamic nonprofit that is connected to a local charter school under fire for potential state funding violations.
Now the Minnesota GOP has called for a House Ethics Committee investigation into the funding of his trip.
According to the Star Tribune, the Muslim American Society of Minnesota paid for his pilgrimage. That group has received close to $900,000 in taxpayer dollars in 2006 and 2007 from Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy (TiZA), a local charter school currently under fire as well. The money was part of a rental agreement for the school. The executive director of TiZA, Asad Zaman, is a political donor of Ellison’s and came along on his trip.”
In an investigative report Journalist Joel Mowbray has been virtually the only journalist who has pursued the CAIR connection, exploring in a recent column “Mr. Ellison’s seemingly tight connection with Nihad Awad, co-founder of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), whom he met almost two decades ago at the University of Minnesota.” Mowbray reports that “Mr. Awad headlined a fundraiser last month that the campaign estimates netted $15,000 to $20,000, and in July, and it appears that CAIR’s co-founder bundled contributions totaling just over $10,000. (The campaign issued a terse denial on the latter point, though it refused to explain away overwhelming evidence to the contrary.)” Faced with this evidence, Ellison’s backers have “attempted to paint attacks on the candidate as overtly partisan or even bigoted. A Minneapolis Star Tribune columnist, for example, recently suggested that Mr. Ellison is under attack solely for being Muslim.”
What is so troubling about Ellison’s connection with Awad and CAIR? Mowbray quotes the assessments of two leading Democrats: Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois has declared that CAIR “is unusual in its extreme rhetoric and its association with groups that are suspect.” New York Senator Charles Schumer once said that CAIR “has ties to terrorism” and that Ellison’s supporter Awad has “intimate connections with Hamas.” Mowbray establishes the latter point from Awad’s own mouth, quoting his 1994 statement: “I’m in support of the Hamas movement.”
From the website, Islam in Action dated July 2009: “Islamocongressman Keith Ellison was given a letter from a Congressional delegation, stating that he should stay away from the Islamic terrorist supporters of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR). Mr. Ellison has once again shown us which side he is on, and has defied the request. Voting for Muslims is a mistake, as they will use the power to advance their Islamic agenda.”
Congressman Ellison who was sworn into office by placing his hand upon the Koran can’t be loyal to both the American Constitution and to the Koran, because the two are mutually exclusive with opposing values.
Here are a few examples where they differ:
— SURELY THE VILEST OF ANIMALS IN ALLAH’S SIGHT ARE THOSE WHO DISBELIEVE. (8.55)
–THE UNBELIEVERS ARE YOUR INVETERATE ENEMY. (4:101)
— MOHAMMED IS GOD’S APOSTLE. THOSE WHO FOLLOW HIM ARE RUTHLESS TO THE UNBELIEVERS BUT MERCIFUL TO ONE ANOTHER. (48:29).
— IT IS UNLAWFUL FOR A BELIEVER TO KILL ANOTHER BELIEVER, ACCIDENTS EXCEPTED. (4:92)
— BELIEVERS, TAKE NEITHER THE JEWS NOR THE CHRISTIANS FOR YOUR FRIENDS. (5:51)
— MAKE WAR ON THEM UNTIL IDOLATRY SHALL CEASE AND GOD’S RELIGION SHALL REIGN SUPREME. (8:40)
— FIGHT AGAINST THEM UNTIL IDOLATRY IS NO MORE AND GOD’S RELIGION REIGNS SUPREME. (2:193)
— THE TRUE BELIEVERS FIGHT FOR THE CAUSE OF GOD, BUT THE INFIDELS FIGHT FOR THE DEVIL. (4:76)
— WE WILL PUT TERROR INTO THE HEARTS OF THE UNBELIEVERS. (3:151)
— I SHALL CAST TERROR INTO THE HEARTS OF THE INFIDELS. STRIKE OFF THEIR HEADS, STRIKE OFF THE VERY TIPS OF THEIR FINGERS. (8:12)
