Two weeks ago, there were six states that decreed it lawful for men to marry men, and women to marry women. Notice, I said “decreed”. It was the decision of liberal legislators and liberal judges…not by a vote of the people. That is, until the voters in Maine got a chance to speak their piece.
And speak, they did! The voters overturned their state legislators. Now, only five states are left where voters were not allowed….get that…..NOT ALLOWED to go to the polls and speak their piece.
In Maine, the opposition to gay marriage correctly pointed out that unless the decree was overturned, homosexuality would be taught in public schools. The pro-homosexual crowd said “not so. That’s a lie!” However, those opposed to gay marriage only had to point to California and all the pro-homosexual bills being passed by our Democrat controlled legislature. The most recent being Harvey Milk Day, a day set aside for schools to extol the virtues of that homosexual pedophile. Case closed!
The mantra from the pro-gay marriage crowd now is “equality”, without realizing the laws as currently written ARE equal. Marriage is allowed between one man and one woman – period! It applies to EVERYBODY. Can’t get any more equal than that!
Meanwhile, in New Jersey, where gay marriage is not yet allowed, (and voters are not being allowed to go to the polls to speak their piece) outgoing Governor Jon Corzine has promised to sign gay marriage legislation if it makes its way through the Democrat-controlled legislature and reaches his desk before he leaves office on January 19th.
Republican Governor-elect Chris Christie has promised to veto such a bill if he is sitting in the governor’s chair such legislation arrives. Christie says even if such a bill is signed by the outgoing governor, he will support giving voters a chance to overturn it by approving an amendment to the state’s constitution.
So far, 31 states have put the question on gay marriage before the voters, and voters in all 31 states have said NO! So now, there are only five that recognize gay marriage: Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont. But voters in those states have never been allowed to go to the poll to speak their piece. Why do you suppose legislators in those state are afraid to allow that?
The answer is really simple: Marriage is ordained by God. That’s why its called “Holy Matrimony.” It is a sacred union between a man and a woman.
Homosexual “marriage” is conceptually ridiculous and the attempt to force it on society is deeply repugnant. That’s why thirty one states have banned it. Voters in 31 states have said “let’s stop this nonsense, once and for all.”
