“Deciding Winners and Losers” – Quote of the Day

John Ransom at TownHall.com has written an article about Michelle backman’s business experience and education. I just had to share this quote:

“Government-crafted schemes like Obamacare and Romneycare are looking more and more to voters like Big Government, Big Labor and Big Business sitting down in a smoke-filled room to decide the winners and losers, because that’s what happens.

And since the rest of us don’t have a seat at the table, guess who buys the cigars?”

Approximately half of the American people don’t pay federal income taxes. A progressive tax ensures that most of the taxes are paid by 10% of our citizens. All workers pay into retirement and healthcare systems that are going broke and have been deemed unsustainable, and yet our government has decided to double down and establish yet another unsustainable program, Obamacare.

Think about all the government programs that supposedly “help”. How effective have they been? What has been the total return on our investment? Are our citizens better educated since the federal government got involved? No. Have the numbers of poor been reduced through all of the many assistance programs we have? No. Can future generations be certain that retirement programs won’t cost them more than their families can afford? Are people in America more prosperous and independent or do more and more of us have our hands out? Whether we like it or not, more of us have our hands out.

We need to fundamentally change the way we think about ourselves and our government. Redistribution is not working to make America stronger as a nation. The success of our government should be measured by the vast numbers of people who don’t need it or no longer need it. We the people, not government, organized labor, or selected corporate heads, are the power that made America the envy of the world.

Time to just say no when they ask for more cigars. time to tell them the warehouse has been closed. Time to demand a no smoking zone in the halls and offices of Congress and the White House.
