The President funds the Palestinian Authority despite Congressional freeze on funding.

President Obama, in typical authoritarian style, has chosen to bypass Congress and rule by decree awarding the Palestinian Authority $192 million. Congress placed a freeze on the PA due to their breech of treaty commitments. Information about the President’s decision was released on Friday to avoid widespread media coverage as has been the President’s practice when working outside the bounds of his authority.

Reporting at National Review, Andrew McCarthy has the details:

White House spinmeister Tommy Vietor stated that President Obama made the decision to pour American taxpayer dollars into Palestinian coffers in order to ensure “the continued viability of the moderate PA government.” He added the claim that, as the report puts it, “the PA had fulfilled all its major obligations, such as recognizing Israel’s right to exist, renouncing violence and accepting the Road Map for Peace.”

In the real world, the very immoderate PA has reneged on all its commitments. In addition to violating its obligations by unilaterally declaring statehood, the PA has also agreed to form a unity government with Hamas, a terrorist organization that is the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. The PA continues to endorse terrorism against Israel as “resistance.” Moreover, the PA most certainly does not recognize Israel’s right to exist.

Apparently creating facts out of thin air is a tenet of President Obama’s imperial authority. Dismissing the duly elected representatives of the people and putting them in their place is also common practice in this White House. And for good measure, the administration regularly demonstrates that those old dead white guys writing in 1776 didn’t know what they were doing when they put a system of checks and balances into the Constitution. In fact it’s as if the Constitution has been deemed too limiting and restrictive for the one we’ve been waiting for; the one destined to rule. The imperial presidency continues.

The Father of our nation, George Washington had a different idea in 1776:

“The Constitution, which at any time exists, ’till changed by an explicit and authentic act of the whole People, is sacredly obligatory upon all

But let there be no change by usurpation; for though this in one instance may be the instrument of good, it is the customary weapon by which free governments are destroyed. “

After posting this article I ran across another that illustrates the arrogance and underhandedness of the imperial president. this time he’s spending money to fool seniors on Medicare until after the election:

    http://www.weeklystandard.com/articles/obama-s-senior-swindle_642177.html

The most politically brazen feature of Obamacare has always been its looting of Medicare. About half of Obamacares costs are to be covered with money taken from an already nearly bankrupt program for seniors. And the most politically perilous aspect of this ploy is Obama-cares cuts in Medicare Advantage funding, which would cause many seniors to lose their preferred health plans. Under the implementation schedule stipulated in Obamacare, many seniors would either lose their plans, or learn that they are going to lose them, before the election that will likely decide Obamacaresand Obamasfate.

Anticipating a senior revolt, the administration took action. It ran millions of dollars worth of taxpayer-funded TV ads featuring Andy Griffith saying things like, That new health care law sure sounds good for all of us on Medicare! It mailed out full-color, taxpayer-funded propaganda brochures singing the same tune. It repeatedly claimed (and continues to claim) that money taken out of Medicare to fund Obamacare wouldmagicallyalso stay in Medicare and be used to extend its solvency.

But the administration didnt stop there. Instead, it launched an $8.35 billion demonstration project to postpone the vast majority of Obamacares Medicare Advantage cuts until after what Obama likes to call his last election. In truth, this isnt really a demonstration project at all. Its something closer to the opposite: an attempt to keep Obamacares effects from being demonstrated until its too late for voters to respond.

$8.35 Billion! The GSA (yes that GSA) reports that is more than all other presidents have spent on “demonstration projects” combined! That’s a neat way to get the taxpayers to fund a portion of his re-election strategy.

If Obama is giving money to prop-up a moderate Palestinian government then I wonder, what are they doing with that money? Are they buying more arms, or are they buying votes? How does this work and how much will it cost us? And how long can money keep an unpopular government in power…anyone? -Jack

I want to know why the Jews in this Country keep voting for a party that clearly hates them to the point of wanting them exterminated, can I get an answer to that one?

  4. Post Scripts says:

Toby, that question has been around for a long time and I’ve heard several theories. One is there is such a strong connection to leftwing policies within the Jewish community they can’t bring themselves to accept that the left also embraces their enemy.

That kind of denial seems to have played right into the Nazi’s plan during WWII. The Jewish community couldn’t believe the horror stories, it was too awful. Maybe they are still in denial?

I’ve wondered about this question and I really don’t have a good answer.

Jack this is the government that has now chosen to join with Hamas so I don’t think we can call it “moderate” and still maintain our composure.

When the President said we had to do this for national security reasons I’m not sure he was referring to ours.

Toby there are several explanations and I’m sure many I have never heard. This is what I know: Liberal progressive Jews are often secular and are just like their non-Jewish progressive friends. They place blame on Israel. Others are doing as they have been trained; the tradition is, “Let us sit down and reason together.” They believe any problem can be solved through reasoning. Like their progressive counsins they don’t seem to recognize that some people are not willing to reason. Jews also have a long tradition of charity and kindness to strangers in the land. It is customery to invite a stranger to dinner on Friday evening. After seven years they forgive all debt. They traditionally seek peace and reconciliation. They identify more with the appeasement crowd even after agreements are broken again and again.

(Those who take a more conservative stance in America are labeled neocon much like the conservative black man is labeled Uncle Tom.)

I’m with you. I don’t understand continuing to treat another group as if they were trustworthy, honorable and honest when they have shown again and again they are not and when they continue to call for extermination. It just isn’t reasonable! It’s a real head scratcher. My Jewish friend always says they (the Palestinians) are like children…perhaps there is a clue in there somewhere.
