New Slogan for the Obama Campaign – Forward

Posted by Tina

Victor Morton of The Washington Times decided to research the Presidents new campaign slogan and what he found was…well…you pick an adjective:

The Obama campaign released its new campaign slogan Monday in a 7-minute video. The title card has simply the word “Forward” with the “O” having the familiar Obama logo from 2008. It will be played at rallies this weekend that mark the Obama re-election campaign’s official beginning.

There have been at least two radical-left publications named “Vorwaerts” (the German word for “Forward”). One was the daily newspaper of the Social Democratic Party of Germany whose writers included Friedrich Engels and Leon Trotsky. It still publishes as the organ of Germany’s SDP, though that party has changed considerably since World War II. Another was the 1844 biweekly reader of the Communist League. Karl Marx, Engels and Mikhail Bakunin are among the names associated with that publication.
East Germany named its Army soccer club ASK Vorwaerts Berlin (later FC Vorwaerts Frankfort).

Vladimir Lenin founded the publication “Vpered” (the Russian word for “forward”) in 1905. Soviet propaganda film-maker Dziga Vertov made a documentary whose title is sometimes translated as “Forward, Soviet” (though also and more literally as “Stride, Soviet”).

This may literally be the single pettiest thing ever posted on this website.

  2. Post Scripts says:

Since this truly was an old one word slogan from Communist days in the USSR, it is at the very least comically ironic. But, what if it wasn’t just coincidental? Well, either way, I’m sure it warms the heart of folks like Bill Ayers and his ilk. Forward Comrades… lol

  3. Tina says:

Comically ironic! I like this descriptor! Although the coincidence factor is fairly overwhelming given the policies and stated intention of the candidate to “transform” America.

    Forward comrades indeed…too funny!

  4. Chris says:

“Forward” is also the official state motto for that radical Marxist commune known as…Wisconsin!

Seriously, do you want people to think you are insane? Is that what you’ve decided?

This post is further evidence that your party is now run by and for deluded conspiracy theorists.

  5. Chris says:

Hey, guys! Guess what I just found out! Barack Obama owns a dog!

You know who ELSE had a dog, right?

    ….

    Hitler.

    Coincidence? You decide.

  6. Toby says:

Some people get so offended by what is posted on PS, you would think they would avoid it.

  7. Post Scripts says:

Petty Chris? You are so indoctrinated as to be unable to appreciate the irony of this moment.

The Obama campaign apparently didn’t look backwards into history when selecting its new campaign slogan, “Forward” a word with a long and rich association with European Marxism. On second thought I’m sure they know the origins are directly attributable to Engels, Trotsky & Marx. Progressive means forward.

Many Communist and radical publications and entities throughout the 19th and 20th centuries had the name “Forward!” or its foreign cognates. Wikipedia has an entire section called “Forward (generic name of socialist publications).”

The slogan “Forward!” reflected the conviction of European Marxists and radicals that their movements reflected the march of history, which would move forward past capitalism and into socialism and communism.

  8. Post Scripts says:

The Origins Of Obama”s New Slogan…. Communism …. Socialism And The Nazi Party

Make no mistake I am in no way implying that obama is a communist and I’m sure the choice of his new slogan and its ties to the communist, socialist and yes even the NAZI party is merely an unfortunate accident…..LOL….. kidding folks. Now when its pointed out that his new slogan is what it is he will of course claim to be unaware of its implications and origins. Well his mentor Frank Marshall was a communist and it has been suggested both his mother and grandfather were as well. Personally I think it was a not too subtle shout out to his fellow travelers.

New Obama slogan has long ties to Marxism, socialism

Jack, of course you’re right–how could I have been so blind before! Now that we’ve established that Obama’s one-word campaign slogan is a secret reference to Communist newspapers from one hundred years ago, can you PLEASE tell us how we can help stop the incredible threat to America that is the state of Wisconsin? Apparently they’ve had this motto for over 150 years! Think about how much time they’ve had to form their plan to fundamentally transform America into something resembling modern-day Germany! What have they been putting in our cheese? Oh, the humanity!

  10. John S says:

Interesting information. The people advising the president know exactely what that they are doing and unfortunatly so does our Marxist and Chief 🙁 The Communist in the Occupy movement are loving it and publishing communist literature with the slogan. I sure wish Glenn Beck would start being wrong. That would mean that things are actually getting better. His track record is far too good even when predicting things years in advanced 🙁

    Another Marxist accident for Obama
Boy, someone really dropped the ball over at the Obama campaign. Their new slogan, Forward, is eerily reminiscent to that of numerous Marxist/Socialist European campaigns of yesteryear. Is anyone at all concerned that our President is basing his campaign theme on past admins that killed tens of millions of people? Get Glenns full reaction HERE: http://www.glennbeck.com/2012/05/01/another-amazing-coincidence/

  11. Chris says:

Toby, I’m not offended by this. It’s way too stupid to be offended by. I’m slightly amused, but mostly a little depressed that some people are THIS desperate to attack their political opponent. This is truly one of the dumbest criticisms of a person I have ever read. Does anyone here honestly believe that President Obama chose the slogan “forward” as some sort of reference to Communist newspapers from over one hundred years ago? No. I do not accept that any of you are that fracking idiotic. You all know perfectly well that the word “forward” has positive connotations, and that liberals like to pride themselves on being forward-thinking. The logical explanation is that this is why Obama chose it.

You’ll just do anything to associate Obama with Communism, no matter how tenuous and unrealistic the connection. You will leap right over the logical explanation in order to get to the theory that will score you the most political points. It’s a dishonest political move, it’s pathetically desperate, and it’s one that anyone with a brain will see right through.

*cue Tina changing the subject to dishonest political moves made by liberals*

The article in question was posted in a prominent Washington DC paper. The portion posted contains information of interest. I do not see a criticism in any of it. I assumed if there was going to be criticism we would find it in comments. I invited our readers to pick an adjective to describe the information.

The first person to chime in was Chris and he chose to criticize the poster and the blog rather than comment on the information. In his later posts he continues to bash and make deparaging remarks…me thinks he doth protest too much.

I’ll get back to you on Wisconsin but in the mean time what we do here is post current event items and things of interest that we believe might make for lively conversation. So nfar we’ve had a bit of fun with this one.

Please do not forget that the President PROMISED to transform this nation. Transformation isn’t slight change. Transformation is a very specific word with very specific meaning. The choice of that word, given the policies that this administration has adopted and the tactics he has used, was not used by mistake. He has promised to finish his work if given another four years.

I think he chose the word forward specifically. Communism/socialism/social democracy are all the samre thing. They are not a republic and they are not free market capitalism…a change like that would certainly be a transformative accomplishment.

Fools and youngsters are sometimes quick to dismiss that which is right in front of their noses as irrelivant, petty, or insane, even if it about to rob them of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

  13. Tina says:

The State of Wisconsin has been greatly influenced by socialism and the Progressive Party. The motto Forward, however, was chosen in 1851 to reflect Wisconsins continuous drive to be a national leader. It certainly did that.

Wisconsin led the nation in union formation and labor law. According to the webpage below the Socialist Party in Milwaukee was formed in 1897. It provided the basis for progressive action in strikes at the Allis-Chalmers Mfg. Co. in West Allis. Out of the conflict unions in Wisconsin became national symbols of the struggle for shop floor rights and created debate over the role of communism in unions.

    http://www.carpentersunion.org/site/epage/87962_837.htm

A lot of good came from the early work of the unions. But the union, like the Progressive Party, is not content to sit on its laurels. After winning concessions that greatly improved conditions for workers, the union leadership continued its adversarial stance against employers, always demanding more through intimidation and extortion practices. I think it springs from the socialist notion that everyone should OWN the business collectively and share equally in what it produces.

Today the auto workers own a piece of GM. The force of government was used to craft this deal. Private investors were shoved aside, their investments lost.

Across the nation public sector unions have made demands that are bankrupting city and state governments. The compensation they receive is greater than their private sector equals and still they demand that taxpayers bear the burden of very generous pensions and Cadillac health care benefits.

Still this is not enough. The SEIU is in the business of harassing, intimidating, and suing banks and big companies with the intent to bring them down or destroy them.

Organization like ACORN work with unions to influence campaigns and voting and orchestrated efforts to distort loans for the poor under legislation crafted by socialist leaders in Congress and the presidency.

It could be said that Wisconsin paved the way for all of this and has culminated in the OWS movement; Forward is entirely appropriate as the state motto.

It is entirely appropriate for a president who says one thing and does another to fascilitate his agenda to transform America.

Property rights are a foundational principle of our republic. While it may seem like a good idea to make wealthy people give more of what they have earned (their property) to government it is actually simply a license to take anyones wealth and belongings.

    Talk about a slippery slope!

    Nicely put. Spot on Tina!!

  15. Chris says:

Tina: “The article in question was posted in a prominent Washington DC paper.”

Tina, the Washington Times frequently publishes false information, and the editorials are often filled with vicious racism, sexism, and anti-gay hatred. I have disproven claims made by the Washington Times on numerous occasions on this website.

“Communism/socialism/social democracy are all the samre thing.”

*sigh* I don’t know if I can do this anymore. It feels like a waste of my time to argue with people who believe such ignorant garbage.

  16. John S says:

Media4Obama: New editorial says no way Obamas Marxist

Yes, Obama grew up with Marxist parents and grandparents, his mentor was a communist, he hung out with the Marxist professors, his pastor was Marxist, he appointed Marxists — and now his new slogan happens to mirror a famous Marxist slogan. But the media is once again defending their man – check out Glenns reaction HERE.

John S…if it walks like a duck!

We keep asking, “Why are they so afraid to admit it?” “Why do they distance themselves from these descriptors?”

Their ideology is peppered generously with Marxist and socialist ideas…so much so that they have become a diverse group of many striped progressive, socialist, corporatist, Marxists.I think it’s because they all believe in their hearts that THEY are good people and so under their control it will all turn out differently. It really will be that magival place where everyone has perfect healthcare and no one ever goes hungry and everyone goes to college and we are all compensated equally and…Julia…Julia is that you?

I just wish they would be honest so this country can start to have an honest debate about what works and what doesnt or obviously isnt working here or around the world for decades and beyond. I absolutely despise Bernie Sanders and his ideology but I definitely respect him for coming out and being honest about being a Socialist. At least with him the American people can get closer to having an honest debate in the arena of ideas.

Keep up the great work Post Scripts!!!

What an amazing and interesting coincidence 🙁

Obamas Ayers, communist roots run deep
Who knew? The media should have – any other candidate in recent history would have been scrutinized from top to bottom and everywhere in between. But the media has been so tingled they havent bothered to investigate the clues handed to them. They brushed off Ayers – probably because of what they would have found, which is disturbing stuff – find out HERE: http://www.glennbeck.com/2012/05/03/obama%E2%80%99s-ayers-communist-roots-run-deep/

  20. Ron Keas says:

During the DNC in Denver I was invited by Shepard Fairey to display some of my first Obama paintings. When Shepard compiled the art book “Art For Obama” he included three of my Obama paintings. In 2008 the NY Times displayed two of my Obama paintings on their front page. My painting of the first family represented Obama’s birth month in the Diversity Calendar that was sold at the inauguration.

I saw a video today on the Huffington Post website of about the Obama Campaign announcing their slogan for 2012. The slogan is “Forward”. In a section of the video President Obama is shown walking between white columns in a black suit. Whether or not I was being psychic, or it was just a coincidence, two weeks ago I designed a Campaign Poster showing President Obama in a black suit, leaning on a white column at the Lincoln Memorial, with the slogan “Forward”. I made the poster using one of my oil paintings. I chose the slogan “Forward” simply because I’ve heard the President say, many times, “We don’t need to go backwards, we need to move forward.” It’s on record with my web publishing, and my tweets that I came up with these ideas before the official announcement. I’m not looking to take credit, or to brag. I just thought it was a fascinating series of coincidences, and it tells me that I’m on the right track with my political art. I’ve been painting portraits of President Obama since his first Campaign. I’ve done over 30 different paintings of him to date. I will continue to support him with my art through his 2012 campaign.

Ron, as a fellow artist, I think you are a great painter. Too bad you don’t understand who and what you are supporting. He’s taking us away from freedom and into the Nanny State.
