UPDATE: Dan Logue and The Farm Seizure

Submitted by Tim Clark…

Logue claims to have met with Rice family at 6 specific meetings…BUT, official meeting records prove otherwise.

(Marysville) – Dan Logue says he met with the Rice family 6 specific times when he pushed through an eminent domain seizure of their farm. Logue used this so-called “fact” to respond to the Rice’s telling their story about the seizure.

The problem for Dan Logue is that, according to official minutes of these public meetings, he was absent 5 of the 6 meetings, and his attendance cannot be confirmed for the 6th, where he is recorded neither speaking to the Rice’s nor commenting on any other issue. Dan Logue has refused to comment about the discrepancy between his claims and the actual public record.

In the spirit of fairness if Mr. Logue wishes to respond he will have the same space as we’ve given this article

Sad Celebrity Death – I knew Him Well

Please join me in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community.

The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and trauma complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71.

Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain Crunch. The grave site was piled high with flours.

Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers.

He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times he still was a crusty old man and was considered a positive roll model for millions.

Doughboy is survived by his wife Play Dough, two children, John Dough and Jane Dough, plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart.

The funeral was held at 350 for about 20 minutes. (glad he wasn’t cremated) Maybe he will rise from the grave?

ELECTIONS – Do You Have Any Helpful Suggestions?

How can we improve on our elections and encourage more good candidates to run for office?

Here are a few of my ideas for state office:

1. Filing fee should be .075% of the annual salary.

2. Filing fee must accompany at least 200 qualifying signatures.

Words of Wisdom – “DUST”

from TinmanB

woman1.bmpRemember…a layer of dust protects the Wood beneath it.

‘A house becomes a home when you can write ‘I love you’ on the furniture …’

I used to spend at least 8 hours every weekend making sure things were just perfect – ‘in case someone came over’

Finally I realized one day that no-one came over; they were all out living life and having fun!

NOW, when people visit, I don’t have to explain the ‘condition’ of my home .

They are more interested in hearing about the things I’ve been doing while I was away living life and having fun.

If you haven’t figured this out yet, please heed this advice.

Life is short. Enjoy it!

Debate in Toronto: Resolved GOP Keeps Us Safe

Posted by Tina

Debate this: GOP keeps us safe, by Peter Worthington Toronto Sun

Next Monday, the inaugural Munk Debate takes place at Toronto’s Royal Ontario Museum on the issue: “Be it resolved that the world is a safer place with a Republican in the White House.” ** What makes this significant is the quality of the four debaters — and prospects of the most unusual U.S. presidential election in the lives of most of us. ** In favour of the motion are Charles Krauthammer of the Washington Post who radiates common sense, knowledge and realism, and Niall Ferguson, a revisionist historian who supported the war in Iraq, opposed the 2004 re-election of George Bush. ** Opposing the resolution is former U.S. diplomat Richard Holbrooke who brokered the Dayton peace accords in Bosnia, and urged military action against Saddam Hussein “Not only because he possesses the potential for weapons of mass destruction, but because of the very nature of his regime . . . a clear and present danger at all times.” ** His debating partner is Samantha Power, Irish-born Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and foreign policy specialist who favours armed intervention to prevent genocide and humanitarian crises. She resigned as foreign policy adviser to Barrack Obama after calling Hillary Clinton a “monster.” If Obama becomes president, she is mentioned as cabinet material.

So, what do you think? Is the world safer with a republican in the White House?

A Tribute on Armed Forces Day

“There are only two forces who have offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American military.

Posted by Tina

A few days ago we had an exchange on Post Scripts when Lisa posted comments against the war in Iraq. Lisa generously shared with us that her father had been killed in the Iraq war. She shared the bitterness she feels toward those who support the war and confessed she hoped she could learn to forgive them. When I saw the following story I thought about the brave men and women who risk their lives in military service to our country but I also thought about Lisa and about the millions of others who have sacrificed loved ones so that others might be freed from oppression, subjugation, torture and death. I hope Mr. Knudsen doesnt mind my editing of his beautiful storyand I hope it brings comfort to those who have sacrificed so much to know that we honor the memory of those who have fallen.

Please take the time to read the entire storyits about one mans journey to discover more about his real father, a soldier who gave his life at Normandy during WWII, after his 18th birthday when his mother revealed the truth about his birth:

Kirkland man’s journey to find father brings past to life, by Bill Knudsen

Your real dad’s name is Bill Cuthbert. You are named after him; he was killed in the Second World War. He was a navigator on a B-24 bomber and his plane was shot down over France on April 20, 1944, when you were just about 6 months old. He is buried in the American Cemetery in Normandy, France. Then your stepdad and I met in late 1945 and we were married in 1946. That is also the same year that he adopted you and we made a commitment to raise you as our son together.”
