Good News – Bad News

by Jack

Yesterday’s good news was LA’s Measure B makes it a law that porn actors must wear condoms, today’s bad news, the LA porn industry says they’re going to relocate to nearby Las Vegas, thus taking millions of tax revenue with them. No matter how you feel about the porn industry this is yet another reminder of the law of cause and effect that has previously chased away so many decent employers. Odd, it took the porn industry to get people’s attention.

Good news – San Francisco is on its way to becoming the first U.S. city to provide and cover the cost of sex reassignment surgeries for uninsured transgender residents. The bad news, San Francisco is on its way to becoming the first U.S. city to provide and cover the cost of sex reassignment surgeries for uninsured transgender residents. No doubt this will soon catch the attention of the Chico City Council.

Next up, good news the City of Chico puts more 6 more officers on patrol duty…the bad news, they had to shut down their gang enforcement unit to do it, and currently we are in the midst of a gang war between the Nortenos and the Sorenos. The good news is, there’s a gang war between Nortenos and Sorenos. Gee, I bet you can’t wait until the last gang member standing declares victory.

Here’s an idea…when that poor gang-banger, all shot up, bruised, battered and stabbed, emerges from the big fight as the sole survivor, lets buy him a pitcher of Corona, then when he’s all done we tie him to the tracks 30 seconds before the 5:45 express rolls thru town. Then we go get a pitcher, sound good?

Measure B Passes in Los Angeles County

Californian’s be proud, the citizens of LA passed Measure B to mandate condoms for porn stars. That’s right, the professional fornicators will be required by law to wear a condom while working. Can you hear the radio call… “Attention Car 54, illegal fornication in progress at studio C…” Ah, it’s a wonderful liberal state isn’t it?

Prop 30 – Let’s Watch Where the Money Goes

by Jack

Slightly over half of us just voted for a $50 billion dollar tax hike that made California first in sales tax and first income tax. Thank you Prop 30.

Now here’s a challenge for all caring taxpayers, especially if you voted for Prop 30: Let’s keep track of where all that new tax money goes. No, I’m not being cynical, I’m being realistic. I remember when we passed the State Lottery and how this was going to add hundreds of millions to education and everything would be wonderful. I remember Prop 98 that followed a few years later because somehow schools were running out of money, but if Prop 98 was passed it would be guaranteed that schools would have adequate funding forever, that fantasy didn’t last 3 years.

Neither the Lotto games nor Prop 98 were safe from the liberal tax and spenders in Sacramento. Ironically the very liberals who demanded more funding for schools were the first to raid the school’s budget to plug holes their un-balanced budget.

Oh, and let’s also see how big the rebate will be to college students. Gov. Brown promised them $250 if they would vote for his proposition.

PS Prop 13, the property tax reform has been blamed for much of California’s fiscal woes, but did you know even with Prop 13 our property taxes rank us 15th highest in the nation, if it were not for Prop 13, we would be the highest. We have a spending problem, not an income problem.

Election Recap – A Total Disaster for CA GOP

by Jack

Okay, here’s how it shakes out for California…the GOP has completely surrendered (lost, forfeited, capitulated) the State legislature to the Democrats. They (republican legislators) might as well resign and give their salaries back to the general fund because their presence has no influence on legislation because the democrats have a sufficient majority to pass anything they wish. Republicans can’t block nor pass legislation…without the approval of democrats.

Next, the biggest waste of taxpayer funds in our history is the so-called bullet train. It is now guaranteed to happen, no matter what the cost overuns, the lack of benefits and the lack of profitability. It will just happen and we will each pay a dear price for it, but President Obama loves the idea…maybe he will pay for it?

Locally, Measure E passed, it guarantees funding of $78,000,000 for schools coming from new taxation…the interest on that one is going to cost us big time! State Proposition 30 also passed, it guarantees funding for schools, about $50,000,000,000 in new taxation. Neither tax item will improve education, lower education overhead, nor will they cut any waste, fraud or abuse or in any way alter expensive unfunded mandates, but the voters still approved them. Oh, and the schools really aren’t guaranteed of getting the money. Aren’t voters dumb?

The following were elected to Chico City Council, ANN SCHWAB (far left liberal and part of the gang that caused so many past problems) She received the highest vote count, 11279 or 13.74%. TAMI RITTER (another liberal ideolog who will use her personal skills to solved the bum problem in the downtown area-good luck with that one). She finished in second place with 9978 or 12.15%. Third place was SEAN MORGAN , conservative, 9115 or 11.10%, followed by RANDALL STONE (far- left, pro-union, big government kind of guy) 8782 votes and 10.69%.

The spoiler for the conservative vote was Dave Donnan, who finished next to last, but he took away 3468 votes that could have gone to conservative candidates who had a chance to win if the conservative vote was more focused. They were Coolidge, Evans and Schindlebeck. 3600 votes would have moved them ahead of Stone and Ritter.

That would have given us a total of four conservative people on the council, enough to stop the current fiscal insanity, business closures and job losses.

This outcome was very well predicted by conservative leaders in Chico. It was also considered by the key backers of these candidates. This is why Mr. Donnan was asked to step aside early on for the sake of changing the council, however he said he stepped aside last time and he was going to run this time, no matter what. Some of his main supporters then blocked him from being removed from the funding and support the other conservative candidates received and the rest is history.

Mr. Donnan ran, he (allegedly) split the vote too thin and the conservatives lost. That’s it in a nutshell. It was a shame, but lets remember that Mr. Donnan had every right to run and he did his best – we can’t fault him for that. But, it did lead to a bad outcome for those on the right side of the fence and hindsight says it would have been so much better if he had stayed out of this race, and I say that even though I like Mr. Donnan, it was just real bad timing.

I don’t know if this election had any influence on this next item, but the latest rumor is Build.com is considering moving out of Chico to Austin, Texas. If they go, they take with them 500 jobs and a whole lot of tax revenue. They will save hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes, have less regulation to deal with and a business friendly climate…if they leave California. It seems like a smart move.

Americans Chose the Status Quo – Now What?

7089-question_mark1.jpg

Posted by Tina

The election is over…now what?

We will be discussing various outcomes over the next hours and days but at the moment I want to concentrate on the re-election of Barack Obama and what it means. It’s time for our friends on the left to explain a few things. Automatic tax increases loom and the economy has bumped along at a meager 1-2%, not enough to fund the government and not enough to begin to pay down our debt. Your candidate once again ran on the same platform offering nothing new. He claimed his work was not finished and you decided he deserved a second chance. You won the big leadership position…now what?

President Obama does not have a strong mandate for his agenda and redistribution policies.

Republicans retain the House with a projected net gain of 65 seats. They gained ground in the Senate with 6 projected seats won. Finding solutions to our problems that will pass both houses and win the Presidents signature will be difficult. Considering the financial concerns, the joblessness, the massive and growing debt, the dislike by the American people of Obamacare, the depressed state of small business, and the struggles going on all over the world both financial and war related, it is difficult to see how the next four years will improve the circumstances of our lives.

Now what?

It seems to me that since my candidate lost it is up to the left to tell us what will make things better. I’m willing to listen and learn. I have asked the question before and never gotten an answer. Perhaps this win will embolden our friends on the left to finally tell me how this win will help America to grow strong. For instance, what policies of the Obama administration will cause the creation of new jobs, a reduction in debt, and a vibrant and growing economy? Now that new regulation and taxes will come into play under Obamacare how will that give us better healthcare and how will it ensure that everyone is covered? As Al Qaeda expands into 32 countries and gains in strength how will Obama’s appeasement policies and intentions for a smaller military keep us safe?

Now that you have won, left America, please tell us…how is your candidate going to lead the country to real recovery and growth…huge job growth…paying down the debt…the ability to afford a home, create savings, and feel secure?

Could it Get Any Worse? Yes, Apparently it Can

by Joseph

Well, I have more bad news for you. The DemoNcrats now have a 2/3rds majority in the state legislature. Do you know what that means? It means they can pass ANY tax increase they want, whenever they want.

The Repulicans are totally irrelevant and the DemoNcrats will not need any ballot iniatives to raise taxes now. I saw this coming a couple of years ago. I tried to get people interested in splitting the state. I called La Malfa’s office and Logue’s office about this and they had no interest. I told them there would come a day soon when Republicans would be irrelevant in the legislsature but they would not listen.

As far as the city council goes the conservatives blundered. They had too many candidates running and their votes were dilluted. They should have run only 3 solid candidates and consolidated their support. That is just common sense but they could not see it.

__________________________

Prop 30 – the $50B tax hike passed. That will give businesses more reason to leave this state. This is certain to hurt jobs and the money will not do squat to help education or improve our national standing…which is at the bottom. Stupid is as stupid does.

Obama Wins, Chico Liberals Win – Stock Market Dives

by Jack Lee

7086-romneyloss-thumb-213x182-7085.jpg

It was really over for Romney long before the debates ushered in a new glimmer of hope. When Romney emerged as the GOP candidate from a long and often times nasty primary runoff, Team Obama knew they were in trouble. They had few accomplishments to run on and the wounded economy was centerfold of the great issues. They had to mortally wound Romney and his Achilles heel turned out to be his great financial success. Thanks to leftist propaganda at all levels of our society, Americans are slowly turning against the rich.

America relates better to the common man, even if it’s an illusion. When it comes to politics…perception outweighs reality every time.

The Obama camp had their target and they relentlessly drove the message home…you can’t trust Romney, he’s not one of us, he’s all out for the fat cats! Despite his considerable qualifications, Romney lacked that common-man charisma that the majority of people will trust and relate to. That was true for most of his campaign and when the real Romney came out…it was too late. Team Obama had spent millions selling the message he will grow the divide between the mega rich and the rest of us and this will be bad for America!

It took too long in trial and error for the Romney campaign to deal effectively with the endless attacks that claimed he was an elitist, that he was out of touch, that he was an insensitive rich white guy that can’t be trusted. This was the image that had been crafted for him by the Obama team and their allies in the MSM.

The second part of his failure was not addressed much in the campaign because it didn’t have to be, and that was his religion. Ask most any Christian fundamentalist and they will tell you Mormonism is a cult. And for many of them that was enough to stop them. They didn’t want some cult leader to become president. Again, it was perception, not reality took a toll on a good man and unfortunately that’s the way politics works these days.

Well, it’s all history now and this morning after Obama’s big win, the stock market brought us back to reality with a 360 point drop on the DOW (so far).

Last night I was attending the GOP gathering at the Holiday Inn night when the news of Romney’s defeat swept over the audience. This cast a pall over the evening that was only partially offset by the election success us Doug LaMalfa to Congress, Jim Nielsen to State Senate and Dan Logue’s re-election to Assembly. However, at the time the Chico City Council race was yet to be determined.

Our stalwart band of conservatives within the Butte Taxpayers Alliance, the Butte County Republican Party and other conservative groups gave it their all, to ensure a conservative victory in the council race. In any normal, thinking community, the past mismanagement, the crazy schemes, the wasteful spending and boondoggles that resulted in costly lawsuits should have mandated such a change!

That led us to actually believe the citizens of Chico had finally had enough of the liberals. And why shouldn’t we think that? The City is broke and heavily in debt. The town is suffering from job losses and a declining economy. Who in their right mind would not want to change that?

We believed this was the first time in decades where responsible fiscal managers could finally gain control of the council. So, we gave it our all, but we made one huge mistake. . .we greatly overestimated the intelligence of the local voters. This is little Berkely, and as such we are filled with leftists, weirdos and wackos. And the other side is just not up to taking them on!

This morning I awoke to the news the voters of Chico still has not sobered up. Only one conservative, Sean Morgan was elected. Toby Schindlebeck, Dave Donnan, Andrew Coolidge and even incumbent Bob Evans lost, we gained nothing. The council remains in firm control of those who brought a string fiscal disasters and embarrassingly stupid issues which I shall not waste my time repeating.

Let me sum it up like this… we’re screwed., nationally and right here in our hometown. We can overcome dumb liberals in office, but we can’t overcome the masses of dumb voters that put them there, short of a violent revolution.

7088-154438-thumb-268x238-7087.jpg

The demographics of change and the new populism that came with it has traditional Americans in full retreat. This was brought about over decades by a multi-front attack within our educational system that undermined traditional patriotic values. The new demographic is akin to a stacked deck and you can’t win against a stacked deck.

The socialist indoctrination of America has passed the tipping point and there’s no turning back. Coming up…new taxes, new debt, bigger government, more attacks on the 2nd ammendment, more loss of freedom and more destruction of classic American history to be replaced with revisionist history. As for class warfare…you ain’t seen nothing yet. This new chapter in American history will usher in a bolder emphasis on creating the ultimate illusion. . .a socialist utopia.
