BAN EVERYTHING THAT IS DANGEROUS! (Gun Ban, etc.)

by Jack Lee

I’ve decided to surrender and join the winning team…liberal democrats, and as my first act of contrition I am going to request our beloved leaders ban certain dangerous items for the good of the children, to protect the poor, to save the elderly and, and all the blue colar union members who contribute so much campaign money to our liberal politicians! No expense should be spared, for our cause is great and lives depend on us!

We already know that guns kill people, right? People don’t..it’s guns. I’ve heard that over and over so many times it must be true. Now lets talk hard facts: Did you know there were 680 accidental gun deaths in 2006 and that represents .000002% of the whole United States population? So any thing or any activity that represents a higher percentage of risk therefore ought to be just as tightly controlled as guns! Restrict or ban dangerous things before its too late I beg you! We have set a wonderful standard for our safety using gun statistics and everything else more dangerous must now fall in line or the world will surely end!

“New Zip Code” for Gitmo?

1624-ist1_4128026-prisoner-xl.jpg

By Tina Grazier

Much ado was made of the Bush administration’s policy of detaining “enemy combatants” at the Guantanamo facility without due process. Nearly one year after the election of Barack Obama not much has changed. Guantanamo is still open and we’re still hoping that other countries will take some of these men off our hands but we’re not having much luck. But the president has a new plan (doesn’t he always) to move some of the detainees to an Illinois prison. What’s interesting is that only a few of these prisoners will be tried in civilian courts. Others will receive Military trials and still others will continue to be held without charges and without trial. Obama has dubbed these characters the “law of war” detainees. As Tom Parker of Amnesty International put it,

“The only thing that President Obama is doing with this announcement is changing the ZIP code of Guantnamo.”

You can read all about this ridiculous sham in the New York Times article, “Obama Tells Prison to Take Detainees,” by Helene Copper and David Johnston.

I’d like all of you Bush bashers to explain how this pretense of Constitutional rights being granted to a few detainees, and not others, is sufficient in terms of the law as you see it. That was the point, wasn’t it? To show the world that we Americans have higher standards and that they are universal?

1975 Warning: Global Cooling Is Coming

(Forbes)- Many of you are too young to remember, but in 1975 our government pushed “the coming ice age.”

Random House dutifully printed “THE WEATHER CONSPIRACY … coming of the New Ice Age.” This may be the only book ever written by 18 authors. All 18 lived just a short sled ride from Washington, D.C. Newsweek fell in line and did a cover issue warning us of global cooling on April 28, 1975. And The New York Times, Aug. 14, 1976, reported “many signs that Earth may be headed for another ice age.”

OK, you say, that’s media. But what did our rational scientists say?

In 1974, the National Science Board announced: “During the last 20 to 30 years, world temperature has fallen, irregularly at first but more sharply over the last decade. Judging from the record of the past interglacial ages, the present time of high temperatures should be drawing to an end…leading into the next ice age.”

You can’t blame these scientists for sucking up to the fed’s mantra du jour. Scientists live off grants. Remember how Galileo recanted his preaching about the earth revolving around the sun? He, of course, was about to be barbecued by his leaders. Today’s scientists merely lose their cash flow. Threats work.

CLIMATE CHANGE IS BIG BUSINESS

482-money2_100.jpg

Posted by Tina

If you’re under the impression that the climate change negotiations going on in Copenhagen represent altruistic desires to save the planet for future generations think again. It is a money-making scheme with BIG GREEN BUSINESS at its heart and key players driving the politics have positioned themselves not only to make huge PROFITS but also to guide the worlds politics to ensure those profits keep rolling in. The following story connects a lot of dots but I found this portion particularly fascinating:

“Climategate: with business interests like these are we really sure Dr Rajendra Pachauri is fit to head the IPCC?” by James Delingpole – Telegraph (UK)

As Booker reported, what has been great for Tata’s bottom line has not been so good for useful for the 1700 workers who recently lost their jobs in Redcar, North Yorkshire, when the owner of the Corus steelworks – Tata – decided to close its plant. ** The real gain to Corus from stopping production at Redcar, however, is the saving it will make on its carbon allowances, allocated by the EU under its Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS). By ceasing to emit a potential six million tonnes of CO2 a year, Corus will benefit from carbon allowances which could soon, according to European Commission projections, be worth up to 600 million over the three years before current allocations expire. ** Will this make any difference at all to the quantities of plant food – sorry, deadly, planet-destroying CO2 – pumped into the atmosphere? Not at all, as Booker goes on to explain: But this is only half the story. In India, Corus’s owner, Tata, plans to increase steel production from 53 million tonnes to 124 million over the same period. By replacing inefficient old plants with new ones which emit only “European levels” of CO2, Tata could claim a further 600 million under the UN’s Clean Development Mechanism, which is operated by the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change – the organisers of the Copenhagen conference. Under this scheme, organisations in developed countries such as Britain – ranging from electricity supply companies to the NHS – can buy the right to exceed their CO2 allocations from those in developing countries, such as India. The huge but hidden cost of these “carbon permits” will be passed on to all of us, notably through our electricity bills. ** Thus, at the end of the day, Redcar will lose its biggest employer and one of the largest manufacturing plants left in Britain. Tata, having gained up to 1.2 billion from “carbon credits”, will get its new steel plants – while the net amount of CO2 emitted worldwide will not have been reduced a jot. ** This is the real reason why so many big businessmen, bankers, politicians, scientists – led, of course, by Al Gore – are backing stiffer, pan-global governmental legislation on carbon emissions. Because there are such stupendous quantities of money to be made.

READ THE ENTIRE ARTICLE. You will discover the many connections to business and climate interests that Dr Rajendra Pachauri, the head of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), has. You will also be reminded that the deals being made will not reduce carbon emissions a bit but they will transfer a lot of cash to an elite few. You will also be reminded that the so-called pollutant that everyone is over the moon about is food for our own food source, plant life.

Amazing Coincidences or Something More?

1621-amazingstories-large.jpg

The world is filled with astonishing occurrences of coincidence and synchronicity that defy explanation. Are these incredible true stories of mere chance… or the hand of fate? More of this Feature

“The Gnostics have a theory that somewhere there is a Twin Self to each person who is their, well for lack of a better explanation, higher soul (a kind of soul mate that is yourself). My personal experience has been that of ‘being’ the double – people meet me and apparently there’s someone who lives in a city at the other side of my state who looks and sounds just like me. They kind of freak when they see me, we look so similar. Maybe I’m living out another life in that city!”

Fated bicyclists
Finnish twin brothers, aged 71, were killed in identical bicycle accidents along the same road two hours apart, police said. “This is simply a historic coincidence. Although the road is a busy one, accidents don’t occur every day,” police officer Marja-Leena Huhtala told Reuters. “It made my hair stand on end when I heard the two were brothers, and identical twins at that. It came to mind that perhaps someone from upstairs had a say in this,” she said.

Identical twins. Identical accidents. Identical deaths. Two hours apart. This astonishing coincidence was reported in newspapers and on newswires around the world in early March, 2002. The odds of it occurring seem remote in the extreme, and it causes one to wonder, as the woman did above – even for a moment – if there’s more at play here than mere coincidence. Is it the hand of fate? Is it true, as author Elizabeth Kubler-Ross wrote, that “there are no mistakes, no coincidences. All events are blessings given to us to learn from.”

History is full of amazing and sometimes bizarre coincidences that give us pause and keep us scratching our heads in wonder. Here is just a small sampling:

Other Coincidental Deaths
This is a similar story of coincidence, not of twins but of two brothers. In 1975, while riding a moped in Bermuda, a man was accidentally struck and killed by a taxi. One year later, this man’s bother was killed in the very same way. In fact, he was riding the very same moped. And to stretch the odds even further, he was struck by the very same taxi driven by the same driver – and even carrying the very same passenger! (Phenomena: A Book of Wonders, John Michell and Robert J. M. Rickard)

Mysterious Monk to the Rescue
Joseph Aigner was a fairlly well-known portrait painter in 19th century Austria who, apparently, was quite an unhappy fellow: he several times attempted suicide. His first attempt was at the young age of 18 when he tried to hang himself, but was interrupted by the mysterious appearance of a Capuchin monk. At age 22 he again tried to hang himself, but was again saved from the act by the very same monk. Eight years later, his death was ordained by others who sentenced him to the gallows for his political activities. Once again, his life was saved by the intervention of the same monk. At age 68, Aiger finally succeeded in suicide, a pistol doing the trick. His funeral ceremony was conducted by the same Capuchin monk – a man whose name Aiger never even knew. (Ripley’s Giant Book of Believe It or Not!)

Winnings’ Rightful Owner
In 1858, Robert Fallon was shot dead, an act of vengeance by those with whom he was playing poker. Fallon, they claimed, had won the $600 pot through cheating. With Fallon’s seat empty and none of the other players willing to take the now-unlucky $600, they found a new player to take Fallon’s place and staked him with the dead man’s $600. By the time the police had arrived to investigate the killing, the new player had turned the $600 into $2,200 in winnings. The police demanded the original $600 to pass on to Fallon’s next of kin – only to discover that the new player turned out to be Fallon’s son, who had not seen his father in seven years! (Ripley’s Giant Book of Believe It or Not!)

Strangers on a Train
In the 1920s, three Englishman were traveling separately by train through Peru. At the time of their introduction, they were the only three men in the railroad car. Their introductions were more surprising than they could have imagined. One man’s last name was Bingham, and the second man’s last name was Powell. The third man announced that his last name was Bingham-Powell. None were related in any way.

Plan to Hold Detainees Without Trial in America

Posted by Tina

“Prison-Gate In America’s Heartland” Investors Business Daily

A leaked memo exposes the hypocrisy of those who opposed indefinite detention of terrorists without trial at Guantanamo. For the right price, they’re willing to hold detainees without trial indefinitely in America’s heartland. ** The plan to ship as many as 100 unidentified terrorist detainees from Guantanamo Bay to a little used prison in Thomson, Ill., a sleepy town of 450 people near the Mississippi River about 150 miles west of Chicago, is well under way, according to a Justice Department memo unearthed by Andrew Breitbart and biggovernment.com. ** The memo allegedly from Eric Holder’s Department of Justice to Defense Secretary Robert Gates, specifies in part: “The Attorney General shall as expeditiously as possible acquire and activate the TCC (Thomson Correctional Center) as a United States Penitentiary, which the Attorney General has determined would alleviate the Bureau of Prisons’ shortage of maximum security cell space and could be used for other appropriate purposes … to accommodate the relocation of (Guantanamo) detainees by the Secretary of Defense.”

Police Gun Deaths in 2009

By COLLEEN LONG

A police officer is gunned down in his patrol car in Penn Hills, Pa., while waiting for backup. Near Seattle, four officers starting their day at a coffee shop are ambushed by an ex-con with a handgun. Another four officers are shot to death in Oakland, Calif., after a traffic stop gone awry. Across the nation, 2009 was a particularly perilous year for officers involved in gun disputes.

The number of officers killed in the line of duty by gunfire increased 24 percent from 2008, according to preliminary statistics compiled by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, a national nonprofit organization that tracks officer-related deaths.

As of Saturday, 47 police officers have died nationwide this year after being shot while on duty, up from 38 for the same time in 2008, which was the lowest number of gunfire deaths since 1956, according to the data.

Over the past decade, small spikes in gunfire deaths have been common, but experts say they are surprised by the number of officers this year who have been specifically targeted by gunmen.

BIG Government Excess and Incompetence

1620-Bureaucracy5.jpeg

Here’s another couple of stories to prove the point…

“Government salaries soar in bad times” – Washington Examiner Editorial

Something President Obama said during his Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech in Oslo about making foreign policy is equally applicable at home, namely, that the world must be dealt with as it is, not as we might wish it to be. This was highlighted by a USA Today investigative report published last week that found “federal workers are enjoying an extraordinary boom time — in pay and hiring — during a recession that has cost 7.3 million jobs in the private sector.” In other words, bad times for the rest of us are good times for the federal establishment. ** This recession has been such a boom time for the tax-supported bureaucracy that “federal employees making salaries of $100,000 or more jumped from 14% to 19% of civil servants during the recession’s first 18 months — and that’s before overtime pay and bonuses are counted.” USA Today was especially struck by the fact that there was only one career federal worker making an annual salary of $170,000 or more at the U.S. Department of Transportation when the current recession began. Today, 18 months later, there are more than 1,600 career employees making that much at Transportation. We can only hope that none of those additional 1,600-plus high-paid workers was responsible for the $2 billion Cash for Clunkers debacle run by the Transportation Department.

And if that news doesn’t frost you this Christmas try adding this chilling news:

“Feds owe Uncle Sam $3B in unpaid taxes,” by Mark Segraves – WTOP.com

WASHINGTON – At a time when the White House is projecting the largest deficit in the nation’s history, Uncle Sam is trying to recover billions of dollars in unpaid taxes from its own employees. ** Federal workers owe more than $3 billion in income taxes they failed to pay in 2008. According to Internal Revenue Service documents, 276,300 federal employees and retirees owe $3,042,200,000.

Historic Sea Levels

1619-Sea_level_temp_140ky.gif

by OneVike

Notice how the sea levels have never been flat? They have always been rising and lowering, and to expect anything different is utterly foolishness! One scientist who knows more about sea levels than anyone else in the world it is the Swedish geologist and physicist Nils-Axel Mrner, formerly chairman of the INQUA International Commission on Sea Level Change. And the uncompromising verdict of Dr Mrner, who for 35 years has been using every known scientific method to study sea levels all over the globe, is that all this talk about the sea rising is nothing but a colossal scare story:

“Rise of sea levels is ‘the greatest lie ever told'” by Christopher Booker – Telegraph (UK)
