Brother of Afghan Leader Paid to Give US Information

by Jack Lee

In a stunning revelation today it was learned that the brother of President Karzai has to be paid for information on the Taliban. US soldiers are fighting and dying to rid the Afghan people of the ruthless Taliban and the President’s own brother has his hand out looking for cash to help us?

Clearly there is a great divide in understand between the US and Afghan’s why we are there if we have to resort to bribery of the President’s own brother. This begs the question, do we want democracy more than they do? Or the better question that is more and more on the minds of the average American, “Why are we still there?” I used to think I had a good answer, but when I hear about how corrupt the Afghan government is and what its costing us, I am beinging to wonder.

New York Times story: “KABUL, Afghanistan — Ahmed Wali Karzai, the brother of the Afghan president and a suspected player in the country’s booming illegal opium trade, gets regular payments from the Central Intelligence Agency, and has for much of the past eight years, according to current and former American officials.

1510-Ahmed Karzai.jpg

(Ahmed Karzai shown left) The agency pays Mr. Karzai for a variety of services, including helping to recruit an Afghan paramilitary force that operates at the C.I.A.’s direction in and around the southern city of Kandahar, Mr. Karzai’s home.

The financial ties and close working relationship between the intelligence agency and Mr. Karzai raise significant questions about America’s war strategy, which is currently under review at the White House.

“Teachable Moment”

Posted by Tina

In the past few decades we have witnessed a sharp decline in the values that make life work and societies strong. Too many of us ate willing to accept that lying, cheating and deception are normal. These methods for getting what you want have become so much a part of everyday life that we often fail to notice, or care, when it happens. Things that in our grandparents day would have caused alarm, are now part of the normal expectations of news, business dealings, political contests and even legislative efforts and matters of the law. The word “illegal”, for instance, means nothing to many Americans when attached to the words immigrant or alien. In the new reality immigration law is made up of suggestions to be interpreted by whim and administered only in certain cases.

The guys over at News Busters noticed another glaring example of this phenomena on the Sunday shows…this is unbelievable in a journalist but it explains a lot:

“Newsweek Editor Admits: Health Care Bill a ‘Fiscal Fraud’ But ‘I’d Still Vote for It’,” by Rich Noyes – NewsBusters

Over the weekend, Newsweek assistant managing editor Evan Thomas offered an intriguing insight into the MSM’s approach to the liberal health care bill slowly rolling its way through the Democratic-controlled Congress. After conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer accurately pointed out how the Senate bill only pretends to be “deficit-neutral” by front-loading the tax collection process while delaying the payouts, Thomas agreed: “Charles is right. This bill is a fiscal fraud.” But he quickly added: “I’d still vote for it.”

One Ugly Unemployment Tax Burden

1498-Unemployment3.jpeg

Posted by Tina

Reporting today by the AP suggests another blow to “hopes” for the unemployed and the “change” that small business keeps praying will happen. Many states will be raising their unemployment rates to pay for benefits for the unemployed. One small businessman reports his unemployment taxes will rise from $3000 a month to $9000. Some increases will be up to 10% higher. Many owners say this will dampen thoughts of hiring new employees. Others say they won’t be offering raises and may even need to lay more people off.

Tax and spend solutions (spreading the wealth around) are not methods that support economic recovery and they lead to severe unintended consequences…it isn’t pretty. In a recession it’s downright ugly! Read the story in the Houston Chronicle:

“Rising unemployment taxes could hinder hiring,” by Christopher S. Rugaber, AP Houston Chronicle

A WEEKEND OF DISASTER PREPAREDNESS TRAINING

by Jack Lee

1497-ArmyNGClassroom.jpg

My class at Joint Forces Headquarters began at 1800 hours last Friday and ended Saturday night at 2330 hours (11:30 pm).

I used military time because it was a military class as the location already implied, although this time some civillians were in the group due to the nature of today’s emergency plans that mandate integrating agencies with the military in times of crisis. Thus the classes were titled as: Integrated Command Systems #300 and #400. This translates to, how people high up in government who deal with disasters will manage your survival when the worst happens, from earthquakes, raging fires, hurricanes, floods and even events like 9/11.

My two bulky work books measured nearly 2 1/2″ thick, hundreds of pages with thousands of factoids, which gave me a little insight why so many officials in New Orleans didn’t follow the federal guidelines and were so ill prepared. The amount of information you have to learn is almost overwhelming.

To make it more challenging, we went through about 80% of it in record time. And even though we had been scheduled for three days of classroom training, we used only two to get thru it all. The actual course for less experienced students is supposed to be 5 days long and even then it’s a cram course. I mentioned that so you could get some perspective when I say we moved thru it pretty fast. The speed was due in part because our class was loaded with the top managers from Homeland, Cal Fire, DoT, OES and the military and these over-achievers live, eat, sleep and breathe this stuff every day of their working lives; so we cruised through the material faster than your average class. (And having said that, you might wonder what the heck was I doing there? I’ll explain it later.)

The First Thanksgiving, A Lesson For Obama

The Sunday Message by One Vike

When a ship called the Mayflower set sail for the Americas on August 1, 1620, no one would have thought that a historical lesson in politics would be learned by those who gave up everything for a chance at a new life in a new world. 102 passengers set sail with William Bradford that day and once they were on the high seas they all signed an agreement. This agreement, or contract if you may, established what was to be a just and equal law for all members of the new community, irrespective of their religious beliefs. What the settlers signed was a contract we now recognize as the Mayflower Compact. It was a mutual agreement that was entered into by the settlers and their merchant-sponsors back in London England.

Basically what the settlers formed was the first social commune of the New World, something that anyone growing up in the 1960s and 70s would easily recognize as a community where all land, houses, farming and other goods were distributed equally amongst all the inhabitants regardless of religious or political beliefs or station. It was the world’s first society that was truly set up in a way that nobody would own anything and everyone who was in need would have what they required if it existed. In essence, the Mayflower Compact was a concept that would be popularized 255 years later in 1875 by Karl Marx’s slogan,

from each according to their ability, to each according to their needs.

What many do not realize is that the ideas expressed in the Mayflower Compact were thought to have come from the Bible. The Pilgrims were Godly Christians who understood and followed the Scriptures and wanted to do what they thought was right by God. So they looked to the ancient Israelites as the example of how to begin their new society in the new world. After all, if it worked for God’s people it should work for them too, right? And, because of they thought that they were following what the Biblical precedents had set forth in the Scriptures, they never doubted that their experiment would work. Unfortunately they misread the Scriptures, and their experiment in the new world would almost destroy everything they had hoped and prayed for within their first year together in the new land.

Racism – Ugly Tool of Intimidation

Posted by Tina

“We even have blacks voting against the health-care bill. You can’t vote against health care and call yourself a black man.”

So said Jesse Jackson to the members of the Congressional Black caucus at a recent reception. He was speaking about Congressman Artur Davis who was among the Democrats that voted against the house health care bill. The remark is an ugly slur, no matter what the color of the targeted recipient, not only because it demeans the person but because it shows disrespect for personal power and responsibility. Mr. Jackson implies that Davis is not of the collective and therefore is worthy only of disdain. The editors of the Wall Street Journal summed the ugly mess up nicely in the article from whence came the above quote:

“Why We’re Not ‘Post-Racial’ – Jesse Jackson versus Artur Davis.” – Wall Street Journal

Liberals insist that America still isn’t “post-racial,” notwithstanding the election of President Obama. But when a politician’s skin color is gratuitously invoked in a debate about whether the government should have more control of health care, you have to wonder if the political left has any serious interest in a color-blind society.

Indeed. Follow the link to read the very classy response given by Artur Davis, Democrat, Alabama.

Climate Bombshell – Deniers Vindicated?

1487-Bomb__Man.jpg

If the following information is found to be valid the green movement is finished. The information suggests deceit and manipulation of horrendous proportions. The demands that this group have made, the special regulations that have become a nightmare, and the money that climate schemes would generate for select investors in the carbon trading exchange would all now become highly suspect. At the very least it should make people think twice before backing taxing plans at local, state, federal and UN levels. Following the various threads…read on:

“Scientific scandal appears to rock climate change promoters,” by Clarice Feldman – American Thinker

There’s big news for climate change students. A hacker has gotten into the computers at Hadley CRU, Britain’s largest climate research institute and a proponent of global warming, and seems to have uncovered evidence of substantial fraud in reporting the “evidence” on global warming; the unlawful destruction of records to cover up this fraud ,conspiracy, and deceit in the entire operation. ** While hacking into the institute’s records is inappropriate if not illegal, the activities disclosed appear illegal and damaging to science and the economies of the world. ** At first many of us were inclined to dismiss the posted emails from the Institute as fraud, but the head of the institute admits the records were hacked and the emails seem genuine.
