Tobythis one’s for YOU:

** WASHINGTON Slowly, gradually, President Barack Obama is moving towards closing down the Guantanamo military prison, symbol of US excesses in the “war on terror,” but difficult hurdles still remain. A major step was taken Friday when France agreed to take in one of about 240 prisoners still languishing in the detention facility at the US naval base in southern Cuba, which Obama wants to shut by January 2010. Delusions of Evolution

by OneVike

God.jpgIt is with out a doubt that a majority of Americans believe In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth Genesis 1:1. Unfortunately, most who believe these words cannot answer the questions raised by the thousands of fossils that archeologist’s have dug up and claim are millions of years old. We are told that such methods as Radiocarbon tests to find the levels of Carbon-14 remaining in fossils, U-Pb dating of volcanic materials to determine how long ago lava cooled, helioseismic dating to get a helium diffusion age in the field of astrophysics, and many more scientific fields and the methods they use can baffle the minds of even the most educated believers of God. Depending on what poll you read, this vast amount of technology has convinced 30% to 40% of believers that God must have used evolution in His creative process.

However, what if I told you that many scientists, archaeologists, biochemists, physicists, micro biologists, and astronomers disagree with most of the findings and conclusions by today’s evolutionist experts? Some of these men even go so far as to challenge the very idea that the universe is billions of years old. It is important to remember that the age of the universe is directly related to the science used to convince people of the age of planet earth.

Torture Complaint Filed in Spain

Spain Has No Right to Try U.S. Officials, by Douglas Feith

** A lawyer in Spain — who did his legal studies while serving over seven years in prison for kidnapping and terrorism — has engineered a complaint accusing the U.S. government of systematically torturing war-on-terrorism detainees. He filed this complaint with Baltasar Garzon, an activist magistrate famous for championing the “universal jurisdiction” of Spanish courts. That magistrate is now asking a Spanish prosecutor to bring criminal charges on this matter against former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, four other former Bush administration lawyers, and me. **

The Hospital Letter – A True Story

by Anonymous

As I woke up this morning and looked out of the window of my hospital room at the giant, snowcapped Vigolana mountain nearby, I took in the beauty of Trentino and appreciated being alive in a new way. My roommate, Ivo from the nearby vineyards of Mezzocorona and I had been awakened at 6:30 by the nursing staff who were lined up and ready with the round of shots, pills and blood pressure cuffs that are each mornings regimen. I had been operated on in an emergency surgery in the middle of the night on Tuesday and today, Friday it was Ivos turn

Two months ago while having lunch with my wife Monica, my little world suddenly went out of control As my vision distorted and the room started moving all I could say was: Help me But in a few moments, everything returned to normal and I thought maybe it was something that I had eaten. Then, a few weeks later I had another, much less exciting episode where my vision just became funny for a few moments. It was so minor that I didnt really think to connect the first episode with the second.

Last week the episodes became more frequent and much more severe and I sought medical help. The short story is that I ended up at the Doppler imaging (ultrasound) lab on Tuesday after having several very bad and longer lasting episodes and the tests revealed that my left carotid artery going to my brain had major blockage.

The doctor at the Doppler lab immediately called the hospital here and arranged for me to meet with one of Trentos leading vascular surgeons. I was told that he had mani del orohands of gold. When I arrived at the hospital a short time later, the surgeon with the golden hands did another Doppler exam which confirmed the results at the

SUNSET HILLS REBORN!

flag1a.jpg

abruce.jpgOne of the best places in Chico to learn the intricacies of golf, was the Sunset Hill Golf course. Located on Garner Lane between highway 99 and the Esplanade, the nine-hole 3-par course was perfect for the beginner. Thats where I contracted the disease known as GOLF.

From the driving range to the putting green, Sunset Hills had it all. Even a small little kitchen where a golfer could grab a beer after a round, or a coffee roll and coffee depending on the time of day. Even supplies for a golfer, from gloves to balls to clubs.

Then, something happened a few years ago. The course became dilapidated, overgrown with weeds to the point where all that was left was an unkempt driving range and a mere three holes which nobody wanted to play. The reason, of course, was the probability that Walmart would buy the site to build its new super center. The course fell into disrepair. It was so sad.

Sunset Hills became pretty much like a ghost town compared to its heyday. Most beginner golfers eased over to Skypark, those that became good golfers became regulars at Bidwell, and the occasional prodigy, perhaps Tuscan Ridge.

I went to Skypark on Friday and counted eleven golfers waiting to tee off. So, I drove over to Sunset Hills just to get in some swing work on the driving range along with the weeds and trash. To my surprise, Sunset Hills was like the Phoenix, rising from the ashes. Watson Dobbs, the manager (and golf pro) had spent months breathing new life into the course. Backbreaking work for one man, dedicated to the sport of golf.

All nine holes had been renewed, the driving range ready for all who need some work on their swing. The putting green, eager to challenge those who need the challenge. (Remember the ol saying.drive for show, putt for dough?)

Sunset Hills is back in business!! The greens have yet to fully mature, but for beginners, its the best place to learn and practice the sportfrom driving, to short irons, to putting. Itll probably be another month before the greens have fully matured, but, for those that want to become infected with the sport of golf, Sunset Hills is the place for it to happen. ITS BACK!

Wise Regulation – Market Smiles

Making Market Sense Investors Business Daily

** With the stroke of a pen, the Financial Accounting Standards Board has eased one of the most onerous burdens on the U.S. banking system. In case you didn’t notice, it sent stocks flying. *** We’ve felt for a long time that the standard of “mark-to-market” accounting made little sense for American banks. Apparently, markets feel that way too after FASB announced it would be repealed, stocks soared Thursday. **

Budget Details & Our Future

The GOP’s Alternative Budget, by Paul D. Ryan Wall Street Journal

** Today, the House of Representatives will consider two budget plans that represent dramatically different visions for our nation’s future. *** We will first consider President Barack Obama’s plan. To be clear, this is no ordinary budget. In a nutshell, the president and Democratic leaders in Congress are attempting to bring about the third and final great wave of progressivism, building on top of the New Deal and the Great Society. So America is placed in a special moment in our history — brought about by the deep recession, Mr. Obama’s ambitious agenda, and the pending fiscal tidal-wave of red ink brought forward by the looming insolvency of our entitlement programs. If this agenda comes to pass, it will mark this period in history as the moment America turned European. *** House Republicans will offer an alternative plan. This too is no ordinary budget. As the opposition party, we believe this moment must be met by offering the American people a different way forward — one based on our belief that America is an exceptional nation, and we want to keep it that way. Our budget applies our country’s enduring first principles to the problems of our day. Rather than attempting to equalize the results of peoples’ lives and micromanaging their affairs, we seek to preserve our system of protecting our natural rights and equalizing opportunity for all. The plan works to accomplish four main goals: 1) fulfill the mission of health and retirement security; 2) control our nation’s debts; 3) put the economy on a path of growth and leadership in the global economy; and 4) preserve the American legacy of leaving the next generation better off. **

Illegals in CensusWhy Not Vacationersor Pets?

Dog_08.jpgPosted by Tina

I always thought the US census was designed to count Americans and to determine fair representation. Apparently you dont have to be American to count:

** The acting director of the U.S. Census Bureau, Thomas Mesenbourg, told CNSNews.com that the bureau intends to work with community organizations to make sure every illegal alien in the United States is counted in the 2010 Census. *** Mesenburg said: Our job is to count everyone that resides in the U.S. *** So, certainly thats our goal to countevery resident whether theyre documented, undocumented, whether they are citizens or non-citizens. – Cybercast News Service **

Surely working dogs deserve to be represented.

The Myth of 90 Percent: Only a Small Fraction of Guns in Mexico Come From U.S., by William La Jeunesse and Maxim Lott

** You’ve heard this shocking “fact” before — on TV and radio, in newspapers, on the Internet and from the highest politicians in the land: 90 percent of the weapons used to commit crimes in Mexico come from the United States. *** Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said it to reporters on a flight to Mexico City. *** CBS newsman Bob Schieffer referred to it while interviewing President Obama. *** California Sen. Dianne Feinstein said at a Senate hearing: “It is unacceptable to have 90 percent of the guns that are picked up in Mexico and used to shoot judges, police officers and mayors … come from the United States.” *** William Hoover, assistant director for field operations at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, testified in the House of Representatives that “there is more than enough evidence to indicate that over 90 percent of the firearms that have either been recovered in, or interdicted in transport to Mexico, originated from various sources within the United States.” **
