Bank of America Forced to Buy Merrill Lynch

by Jack Lee

From Today’s News: I told you there had to be more to the story about Bank of America buying up Merrill Lynch, this was such an incredibly bad deal. When Bank of America found out the extent of Merrill’s financial condition they tried to back out, but YOUR government stepped in and said you can’t do that! You have to buy Merrill and we’ll give you the money to make it right! So B of A said, ok fine, we’ll buy it and they got bailout money to do it. Right before the deal went through Merrill ($15 billion in the hole for mismanagement) handed out tens of millions in bonuses to it’s top managers. Now you know the whole story.

It Pays to Bribe Lawmakers – 267,208% Return on Investment

by Jack Lee

According to a recent AP story, about 150 of the 300 largest companies who received bailout money, paid out $77 million for lobbying and $37 million for campaign contributions for the 2008 election. That got them TARP bailout money of $305.2 billion or a whopping return of 267,208 percent!

People, I can’t make this stuff up! It’s well beyond even the most fertile of imagination. Is it any wonder the people are so fed up? And now this parting shot: Even in the best economic times, you wont find an investment with a greater payoff than what these companies have been getting, said Sheila Krumholz, executive director, Center for Responsive Politics.
