For Our Vets and One In Particular

ribbon.jpgThis is for our returning soldiers, with our most sincere thanks for a job well done…in particular, it is for one soldier who has served with great distinction that merits special recognition. His amazing Army career will be soon drawing to a close. He has done more than was ever expected, two tours in Iraq, he’s a Green Beret, he’s a former Ranger and a member of the 82nd Airborne, a former member of the California National Guard, he’s a winner of the bronze star and may other awards. He is America’s finest! And his name is… I can’t tell you his name, least not just yet. But, he knows we at Post Scripts know who he is… and that we hold him in the highest esteem. The very best part for us is he has a vision and a plan for America that will re-energize conservatives. A champion is coming home…get ready California, get ready America and welcome home all you heroes!

Joe Kennedys Behind Closed Doors Wind Farm Deal

Kennedy is offering more money but we value trust more than money. – Edward Singer

Joe Kennedy tries wind grab – Navajos: Stop interfering in Arizona energy project, by Thomas Grillo – Boston Herald

** Joseph P. Kennedy II, whose father Robert F. Kennedy championed Native American rights, is at war with a band of Navajo Indians. *** The Cameron Chapter of Navajo Nation is charging that Kennedy, president of Citizens Energy Corp. and its for-profit business Citizens Wind, is trying to seize control of a proposed wind farm on the tribes reservation on Gray Mountain in northern Arizona. *** Kennedys actions have single-handedly obstructed project development, delaying much-needed income and jobs for our nation, said Edward Singer, president of the Navajos 1,500-member Cameron Chapter. *** In a letter to Kennedy earlier this month, Singer accused Kennedy of using his political connections to take control of the project. **

I have always frankly admitted that abortion is murder, the extermination of the powerless by the powerful. Liberals for the most part have shrunk from facing the ethical consequences of their embrace of abortion, which results in the annihilation of concrete individuals and not just clumps of insensate tissue. – Camille Paglia, Athiest

“the state is a great fiction by which everybody tries to live at the expense of everybody else.” – French economist Frederic Bastiat

Where Stimulus Is Not Necessary – IBD

** In 2008, government payrolls topped 22 million. At the same time, manufacturing and construction payrolls fell to nearly 20 million. In the latest employment report, government was one of only two major sectors of the economy to show job growth. This is not a healthy trend. *** For every additional worker employed by a government at some level, there is one fewer worker who can contribute to real economic growth. *** Despite claims to the contrary, governments and their employees cannot force economies to grow by growing themselves. They are unable to create wealth. Instead, they seize wealth through taxes, depriving the private sector of the capital needed for growth, and regulate commerce often to the point of obstructing progress. **

Are you young? Do you work or hope to work one day? How many government employees and recipients of government redistribution will you be able to carry on your back? Think about it…that number is about to get bigger and it’s a heavy burden.

Many Early Black Heros

The following by Chauncey Spencer II was posted in comments on a Post Scripts article about the Tuskegee Airmen. We thought it should be posted on page one today.

Man says black aviators merit place at inaugural… Darrell Laurant, Media General News Service, Published: December 30, 2008

** Chauncey Spencer II has an issue with the committee orchestrating next month’s presidential inauguration. ***
“It’s not a big issue, maybe, but it is an issue,” said Spencer, the son of Lynchburg-raised pioneer aviator and civil-rights leader Chauncey Spencer and the grandson of poet Anne Spencer. “Especially given the historic nature of this inauguration.” *** Because Barack Obama is the son of a black Kenyan father and a white American mother, making him the first black U.S. president, there will be a definite civil-rights subtext to his Jan. 20 swearing-in ceremony. *** And Spencer, who lives in Detroit but was in Lynchburg last week, believes that the National Airmen Association of America — an organization of black aviators of which his father was a charter member — should be included and recognized. **

Boy Scouts in Iraq

“Iraqi Scouts Are Back”

** Originally formed in 1954 and silenced during the reign of former President Saddam Hussein, the voices of the Iraqi Boy Scouts are rising once again. The new Iraqi Scouts have been meeting for seven months now. *** Technology has allowed these young men to talk with their American counterparts back in Texas and Georgia through a video conference. Nearly 100 Scouts in all three areas talked about camping, fishing, their favorite music and more. Its also easy to forget the Iraqis are living through a war. Whats it like being in a war zone? a Georgia Scout asked. We fear the war and because of the American forces we have improved the security situation over here. Im really pleased to meet you, said a 17-year old Iraqi Scout. Boys Life, Pedros Weblog **

And So It Begins…

AM Inauguration Day

** Two of the five men accused of orchestrating the Sept. 11 attacks offered unapologetic admissions of guilt Monday in a sometimes chaotic and possibly final session of the Guantanamo war crimes court. The hearings, scheduled over several days, could be the last at Guantanamo, since President-elect Barack Obama has said he would close the offshore prison at the U.S. base in Cuba and many expect him to suspend the military tribunals and order new AP **

PM Inauguration Day

** Guantanamo Bay, Cuba — In one of its first actions, the Obama administration instructed military prosecutors late Tuesday to seek a 120-day halt of legal proceedings involving detainees at the Guantanamo Bay naval base — a clear break with the approach of the outgoing Bush administration. The instruction came in a motion filed late Tuesday with a military court handling the case of five defendants accused of organizing the Sept. 11, 2001, – Washington Post **

Lacking in Dignity, Graciousness…and Unity

Posted by Tina

President Obama has a big problem in his party and following. A unified America will never be possible until he can transform (bring to adulthood?) those within his own party. The last two transitions reflect the direspect and contention from Democrats that fuels discord in America and has for decades.

It began with a sore loser, contentious court battles, hanging chads, a delayed, difficult transition, missing Ws and trashed offices…and it ends thus:

** As a helicopter carried George W. Bush away from the U.S. capital where he has served as president for the past eight years, those in the crowd sang the taunting sports anthem, Na na na na, hey hey, goodbye. **
