Frist: Bush Saved Ten Million Lives

Posted by Tina

The media wasn’t interested in this story over the last eight years:

Bush saved 10 million lives, by Bill Frist – CNN

** A legacy of President George W. Bush will be that he saved 10 million lives around the world. *** I was in the first row in the House chamber when three quarters through his State of the Union address, the president boldly said: “I ask the Congress to commit $15 billion over the next five years … to turn the tide against AIDS in the most afflicted nations of Africa and the Caribbean” and “lead the world in sparing innocent people from a plague of nature.” **

Why Athletes Can’t Have Regular Jobs

From Tinman…

New Orleans Saint RB George Rogers when asked about the upcoming season: “I want to rush for 1,000 or 1,500 yards, whichever comes first.”

And, upon hearing Joe Jacobi of the ‘Skins say: “I’d run over my own mother to win the Super Bowl,” Matt Millen of the Raiders said: “To win, I’d run over Joe’s Mom, too.”

LETS TAKE ANOTHER TEST

By Bruce Sessions

********** FRIDAY SPECIAL *************

abruce.jpg I had planned on using this column to answer some of the left-wingers (read Libby) comments regarding last weeks column Demise of Prop 8? However, that will take a back seat; because of something far more important.

You see, I was mesmerized by Jacks pop quiz regarding some questions of a military nature. I thought it was a great idea. I took the test and, of course, I aced it. Its always easy to ace a test when the answers are attached to the test. Im sure everyone that took it, aced it. Jack is Army, and I have to assume thats the way things are done in the Army.

However, in the Navy, it was considered unacceptable to give a test along with the answers. We felt such a procedure would give those taking the test a distinct advantage. I realize the Army may need that extra advantage, but in the Navy, we relied on the intelligence of the test taker to complete the answers to the test BEFORE passing out the answer sheets.

So, I decided wed take another test, but wed do it the Navy way. You see, theres an ol saying in the Navy: Theres a right way, a wrong way and the Navy way.

So, for all you veterans out there, whether you be salts, grunts, flyboys or jar headshere ya go:

1. The word SEALS stands for what?

2. In the Navy, when is a left-handed salute permissible?

3. When in uniform, but uncovered, whats the rule regarding saluting.

4. There is but one place in the entire world where Navy Seals receive basic training. Where is it?

5. What is meant by UDT?

6. There are three aircraft carriers anchored in the harbor. One is a CVA, one is a CVN, and one is an LPH. Whats the difference?

Okay, thats enough. I was going to ask a final question regarding the official designation of a HumVee. But I forgot the answer two minutes after hanging up the phone with the person who had the answer. Ive noticed that my memory isnt as sharp as it used to be. And did I mention my memory isnt as sharp as it used be?

Extraordinary Rendition – The Clinton Years

300px-Lake_Clinton_Panetta_1994.jpegPosted by Tina

The progressive left has been having conniption fits for years now, screaming and hollaring torture every chance they get and vowing to prosecute members of the Bush administration for war crimes. In the process they have undermined our efforts against terrorists and smeared the good name of America and the Bush administration memebers. They have also conveniently ignored past history. Columnists, Network News outlets, the ACLU and even members of Congress made extraordianry rendition equivalent to the act of flying planes into the towers…possibly worse:

When Progressives Are Boss

Posted by Tina

I saw a story in the news today that immediately brought to mind Libbys response to The Boss. The article is about government rather than employers but youll recognize the same general position, that someone else (the taxpayers) should bear the burden of other peoples personal responsibilities and wants. Libby wrote:

…if you (the boss) funded my kids’ schooling, paved my streets, cleaned my drinking water, and otherwise made my life healthy and prosperous … well you just go to it.

Her comment is a very good illustration of progressive thought. The telling part of the comment is the last where she says otherwise make my life healthy and prosperous.

An Idea Can Change the World

by Anonymous

When it seems the whole world is in decline and that nothing good happens anymore, keep in mind that change is only an idea away.

A few years ago Dr. Paul Offit, chief of Infectious diseases at Childrens Hospital in Philadelphia, was frustrated by the hundreds of infant deaths he had scene from Rotavirus. This is a very common childhood disease that is often accompanied with only mild symptoms, but some children can suffer severe life-threatening diarrhea and dehydration. So Dr. Offit and his closest friends and colleagues, Stanley A. Plotkin, M.D. and H. Fred Clark, D.V.M., PhD went to work on a cure. Thanks to these men who had the courage to risk their time and their fortunes for a cure followed through on what began as just a humble idea. Now we have a vaccine that has potential to save the lives of 600,000 children around the world every year!

These American men of science are heroes to countless people around the world who will owe them their very lives. And it all began with an idea brought to reality by people who had the courage of their convictions.

Stupid Is as Stupid Does

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Pentagon said on Tuesday that 61 former detainees from its military prison camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, appear to have returned to terrorism since their release from custody. Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell said 18 former detainees are confirmed as “returning to the fight” and 43 are suspected of having done in a report issued late in December by the Defense Intelligence Agency. Morrell declined to provide details such as the identity of the former detainees, why and where they were released or what actions they have taken since leaving U.S. custody.

In another time in America, these killers would have been hanged and little or nothing would have been thought about it.

Questions Hillary Should Answer

by Dick Morris

Former President Bill Clinton’s massive financial ties with Arab governments raise serious questions for his wife as she tries to clear Senate confirmation and become secretary of state.

The disclosure of Clinton’s finances (wrung out of him by the Obama transition team) shows that the family, through its personal finances and those of Bill’s nonprofits, has received tens of millions from the royal families in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Dubai, Oman, Brunei and Abu Dhabi.

While these funds were nominally paid to Bill Clinton, they inure to the benefit of his wife, as well. Never have we had a secretary of state who has profited so handsomely from foreign governments.
