Gathering Leaves

by Robert Frost
10dn.jpg
Spades take up leaves
No better than spoons,
And bags full of leaves
Are light as balloons.

I make a great noise
of rustling all day
Like rabbit and deer
Running away.

But the mountains I raise
Elude my embrace,
Flowing over my arms
And into my face.

I may load and unload
Again and again
Till I fill the whole shed,
And what have I then?

Next to nothing for weight,
And since they grew duller
From contact with earth,
Next to nothing for color.

Next to nothing for use.
But a crop is a crop,
And who’s to say where
The harvest shall stop?

Troop Surge in Afghanistan

Posted by Tina

* The United States will send about 20,000 more soldiers into Afghanistan next year in a bid to make the country secure enough for elections expected there in the fall, U.S. Defence Secretary Robert Gates said Friday following a meeting with Canadian Defence Minister Peter MacKay and other allied governments. The troop surge — one of the largest single reinforcements of coalition armies since the ouster of the Taliban in 2001 — has already begun… CanWest News Service *

Obamas Smart Pick

smlissues02112408.jpegPosted by Tina

He was critical of the government’s and the mortgage industry’s lax lending practices, which might be reason enough to be thrilled with President-elect Obamas choice for Treasury Secretary. According to IBD, Tim Geithner is a smart pick in these troubling times:

Picking A Pro – IBD

* Wall Street rallied nearly 500 points on news of Geithner’s pick *** Geithner lends continuity from Bush to Obama as the government responds to the financial meltdown, since he has led the Fed’s response. No learning curve needed. *** Nor is this his first time in a crisis. Geithner spent the 1990s climbing the Treasury ladder, becoming an indispensable part of the team that handled the 1995 Mexican peso collapse, the 1997 Asia crisis and 1998’s Russian ruble meltdown and Long-Term Capital Management debacle. *** Accounts from that time say Geithner was a steadying hand between the cautious Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin and Summers, his aggressive deputy. Yet he earned both men’s respect. As Larry Kudlow has noted, it doesn’t hurt that Rubin and Summers supported free trade and a strong dollar, which suggests Geithner will too. *

Spoiled Old America Meet New Ethnic America

This article reminded me of what America once was, a nation of individuals who believed in hard work, taking care of the family, and saving for a rainy day. Frugality was the norm; waste was frowned upon.

In Ethnic Enclaves, The U.S. Economy Thrives, by Joel Kotkin Forbes.com

* Dr. Alethea Hsu has a strange-seeming prescription for terrible times: She is opening a new shopping center on Saturday. In addition, more amazingly, the 114,000 square foot Irvine, Calif., retail complex, the third for the Taiwan native’s Diamond Development Group, is just about fully leased. *** How can this be in the midst of a consumer crack-up, with credit card defaults and big players like General Growth struggling for their existence? The answer is simple: Hsu’s mostly Asian customers–Korean, Chinese, Taiwanese, Japanese–still have cash. “These are people who have savings and money to spend,” she explains. “Asians in Orange County are mostly professionals and don’t have the subprime business.” *** To Hsu, culture explains the growing divergence between ethnic markets and that of the general population. Asians, she notes, whether in their native lands or here in California, tend to be big savers. In tough times, they still have the cash to buy goods, while others stay home or go way down-market. *

Beware of the Consolidation of Power

by Jack Lee

As government bailouts go forward, businesses fail, businesses merge, people are layed off, we will see a consolidation of power and we will see even more people looking to government for the answers. At the same time fewer people will be in charge and they will be making more decisions… for all of us. There is a great risk to democracy when that happens and we better be darn careful what we do. There will come a time when government no longer serves the people, but people serve the government.

TOLERANCE OR TYRANNY?

By Bruce Sessions

(FRIDAY SPECIAL)

abruce.jpgIt was surreal! A scene reminiscent of 1930s Germany, or of the KGB in the former Soviet Uniononly this wasnt Germany, it wasnt the Soviet Union. It was Lansing, Michiganit was Modesto, California, and Sacramento, and Colorado. It was pro homosexual anarchists demanding public endorsement of what most people consider unnatural sexual behavior. They were demanding it through hate language and fear tactics, and yet they carried signs and banners stating Stop The Hate.

The congregation of Mount Hope Church in Lansing, Michigan had their Sunday morning worship service interrupted by homosexual anarchist who rushed in throwing condoms at worshippers; several went to the balcony and showered those below with flyers, and hung pro homosexual banners. Others simulated homosexual acts, while two lesbians made it to the pulpit and began kissing.

agay.jpgAt St. Stanislaus Parish in Modesto, 37 year old Jose Nunez was physically assaulted while distributing Yes on 8 yard signs to parishioners after church. A 69 year old woman carrying a cross and a Yes on 8 signs was knocked down and spit on by pro homosexual anarchists. The Calvary Chapel in Chino Hills was spray painted by pro homosexual vandals. The artistic director for the California Musical Theater in Sacramento was forced to resign because of his monetary donation to the Yes on 8 campaign.

Those are just a few of the examples of whats happening in the wake of the success of the Yes on 8 campaign. It reveals that when it comes to tolerancetolerance is a one way street. The pro homosexual community is intolerant of any outcome except the one they desire. And they desire acceptance of their behaviorby force if necessary.

GUN CONTROL REALITIES…2009 and beyond:

by Bud Biddle, Chief of Police, Ca- Retired

(Post Scripts Exclusive report)

agun.jpgRead this article (the speech below) and it’s the reason I carry my gun and keep some others, much heavier, around….!! SOund silly..? umm, I’m not so sure after reading the speech set forth below.

It starts with some Black history issues and gets into a variety of other, somewhat related matters. It’s only important and interesting as to the data encompassed by the speaker as it carefully covers some details none of us hear much about.

2nd Amendment issues must be kept intact

The compilation of data in the speech is factually accurate and produced in a long, disheartening, manner. It illuminates things we need reminding of. And it’s only sent from me from a practical, historical, perspective. It shows me why 2nd Amendment issues must be kept intact in America, forever; though, if any/or our government wishes to take us over (more than they already have) with their modern weaponry and they had gotten enough followers to kill, We, The People, off until we capitulated, they would most likely be successful. Our pop guns we cherish would likely be ineffective against a real-time take-over by the `take overor’s`..~!.

American Self-Reliance

keyimg20080703_9293245_0.jpeg“If an American is to amount to anything he must rely upon himself, and not upon the State; he must take pride in his own work, instead of sitting idle to envy the luck of others. He must face life with resolute courage, win victory if he can, and accept defeat if he must, without seeking to place on his fellow man a responsibility which is not theirs.” –Theodore Roosevelt

Car Tax Hikes for Californians?

Posted by Tina

According to a story in the LA Times Sacramento is considering higher car registration fees as a way to spike revenues. The GOP is apparently willing to consider signing on to the bill if it would impose rigid limits on future spending.

Budget deal would include steeper car fees, by Evan Halper – LA Times

* Motorists’ annual fees would rise from 0.65% of the value of their vehicles to 2%. For a car or truck valued at $25,000, the increase would be $336. *** The car tax would generate $6 billion annually for the state, helping to fill a budget gap that is projected to reach nearly $28 billion over the next year and a half. *** The proposal is being championed by incoming state Senate leader Darrell Steinberg (D-Sacramento), who may be gambling that voters will reject the spending limits, as they have in the past. *** We don’t comment on the specifics of negotiations, but this much is clear: The state is $28 billion in the red and we need new revenue,” said Steinberg spokesman Jim Evans. *

Three words to the GOP…DONT DO IT! These agreements are always made…and then broken. Democrats have proven they are not to be trusted. Let them show us the money first…in savings from restructured programs, reformed programs, trimmed budgets and the elimination of waste…SAVINGS FIRST…maybe then we’ll consider it. Besides havent we been here before?

GOP IN BIG TROUBLE

Rasmussen reports that Saxby Chambliss is clinging to a narrow lead of only four points in the Georgia runoff election scheduled for December 2nd. With Ted Stevens defeated for the Senate from Alaska and Al Franken within two hundred votes of overtaking Norm Coleman with the Minnesota recount yet to even begin, the Chambliss seat is all that stands between the Democrats and 60 votes in the Senate.
